Unpopular Opinion Time

The Mercy change is a step in the right direction, but Blizzard doesn’t have the guts to do what they need to do and pull out hero resurrection altogether.

As long as she has the ability to res, Mercy is going to be a must pick in all but the highest echelons of Overwatch gameplay, and will bring her team higher win rates if the person playing her is any good.

“She’s not broken!” Many cry. Yes she is. She’s the only hero with a battle res, and it basically costs her nothing. None of the other healers, not even Moira, can compete with that. Buffing their healing output isn’t going to do anything to improve their pick rates or their win rates. Not when the person who wants to heal can just pick Mercy and have the ability to undo a character death once every 30 seconds.

“Okay Jpec then what should she have instead?”

Oh I dunno, something balanced? An ability where she can reduce the damage someone in her stream is taking, or possibly even prevent them from dying? The ability to do damage while she’s healing (since she’s the only support who can’t)? Something that isn’t undoing character death?

I can see maybe a Stockholm Syndrome type thing happening (or whatever the reverse of that is, where the captor falls for the captive). Like, say Junkrat and Roadhog tried to do a heist on Vishkar. Of course Symm would be there to stop it. And her being Symmetra (and him being Junkrat), she'd probably catch him easily.

From there it's interrogations, bickering, building tension...

I’ve seen a lot of people theorizing that, if she ends up being a playable character, she’ll either:

A. Be an adult, and the articles about her will be several years old. B. Be “fighting” remotely (via drones and other kinds of mobile cameras, a remote-controlled robot or mech, etc).

But yeah, I HIGHLY doubt Blizzard is going to have any (killable) characters that are literal children.

I tend to think the remote thing has the most merit. I think it would be really cool if they gave her the ability to interact with the map like a MOBA or RTS game, either floating overhead from one of her drones, or first-person.

Training rounds have been good for exploring characters I don't normally play. Even though this would never have worked in Quick Play or Ranked, it feels good to get a sextuple kill as Symmetra.

Play of the Game tonight as Lúcio. This was an incredibly satisfying match, and it reminded me of why he's such a good healer on escort maps. Entire team stayed on the payload the whole time, and we were able to relatively effortlessly push through the defenses of a team that had plowed through ours in the previous round. The one thing I wish this had showed was how in the moments that followed, I helped shoot Pharah out of the sky. Given how much she'd harassed me on Widowmaker in the previous round, it felt good to take her out.

Actually, I think it is--and it's more than just a special visor.

Amélie was given several physiological and bionic enhancements to make her a more efficient killer.

If you look at how her mask operates in the short, it seems to function almost like eyes, and without a visible external control mechanism.

That suggests that it IS bolted to her skull, because it is a neurological implant that directly feeds all of this information directly to her brain, and is controlled directly by her brain.

The Quick Play rounds tonight were all fairly lopsided, but there were some fun moments. In this one, the defending team had retreated behind the choke to recover, but a timely ultimate from me on Pharah ensured that wouldn't happen. Immediately after this, my team rushed in on the power play and captured the final point after a very quick round. I felt kind of mean having Pharah kill Ana there at the end, but healers cannot be suffered to live.

...I have caught myself trying a lot more to remember what I learned in Spanish V in high school. ...I have been obsessing over how freaking *adorable* she is. ...I can't stop imagining her and Tracer being BFFs. ...I honestly think she would try to set Tracer and Widowmaker up on dates. ...I have found a new definition image for Chaotic Neutral. ...I think I may finally have an offense hero I really want to play.

About Sombra

So Sombra's whole thing is that she's some kind of ace hacker, so what if her gameplay revolves around typical FPS hacks? Some examples could include: - Movement glitches that make her look like she is where she isn't - Wall hacks - Aiming hacks - Latency spiking - Latency exploits - Shooting through walls - Taking reduced/zero damage Just some thoughts.

Wait a sec...

Sombra hacked Bastion unit E-54. Bastion E-54 is our friendly neighborhood Bastion with PTSD. What if... What if she was the one who woke him up in the wilderness? Or what if she was the one to crack the programming that the god program had implemented, effectively "freeing" Bastion E-54? What if the reason it took so long was because she was literally fighting against a god program? We don't know when that short happened, or when the ARG occurs in the timeline.
