A little comic this time! Since it’s only two pages, I managed to put it together in my free time the next short stories I’ll leave for the Patreons to vote on!

A while ago, I came across a beautiful piece of art on Tumblr, and it reminded me that you don’t really know what’s going on inside Pierrot’s head, haha. So I wanted to show just a glimpse of it this time, from the perspective of the very first day. Nothing too big, but I hope you enjoy it! Let’s just say their past isn’t exactly pleasant as you can probably imagine.

About the game:

When will the update be released? I really wanted to release it this month (since it’s my month /o/), but I can’t give a date yet. There’s about 20% left to finish coding (around 25 dialogue pages remaining).

Once I finish coding with the sprites, I’ll move on to music and sound effects. That’s when I’ll be able to estimate a date, and I’ll let you know when I get there.

About translations: The update will include: English, Portuguese, and Chinese.

Someone volunteered to translate into Russian, and another person into Spanish. I haven’t been able to properly talk with them about these translations yet (since I haven’t coded all the dialogue), so keep in mind those languages are a possibility, but please be patient.

How many days will the game have? Haha! That’s a tricky question. See, the second day of the update is huge, and it just goes deeper into the story while introducing the rest of the cast. So there will definitely be a “day 3,” though I’m not sure how far beyond that it will go.

Will the whole cast have a romance route? I have a lot of endings planned, and making the other characters romance options is a possibility. I really like the idea, but I can’t promise anything. Do I want to do it? Yes! Will it be possible? I’ll have to test it in the script after finishing day 2, so I just need a bit more time before I can be certain.

Lore! As I mentioned, I’ve been working on this comic during my lunch breaks for a few days now! There are lots of lore snippets I jot down for worldbuilding, and usually, I don’t share them but I thought you might like to see a bit more while I work on the game.

There are still more snippets that I’m not sure if I’ll turn into comics (because it’s a lot of work), whether to just leave the written bits, or maybe make a simpler comic to illustrate them. These include:

Compilation/Masterlist of Official Information for The Freak Circus

I don't know if anyone has done this yet, but I wanted to put together a masterlist of the asks answered and posts made by @nekoboydreams regarding their game The Freak Circus!

I organized the posts by whether they had something to do with game development, or if they were related to the lore or characters. I'm planning on continuing to add links as posts are made, so this will be updated frequently! I'm going to organize them better as soon as all the posts are linked, but that may take a little while, so I apologize for the mess. 😅

I decided to do this because, as someone who loves consuming lore and understanding the characters as much as possible before writing them, it's a lot easier to find the posts in this format – I did it for myself, but wanted to share it with the people and do my due diligence. 🫡

There are quite a lot of posts to go through, so this list is not up-to-date quite yet (as of 08/08), but I will continue working on it in my free time! I'm currently up to the first post of June 24th.

This one's a birthday present to myself about how IDW Star Saber is actually a brilliant counterpart to his original self by pure accident, and how fascinating it is to actually compare the two versions of the character instead of bitching that IDW Star Saber isn't like his original self

Aww, I'm glad you like how I color! I'll try to explain it in the better way I can! <3

Frist of all I use Paint Tool SAI but you can have similar results with any graphic program! It's pretty easy! ^^

SO! Let's start from the basic stuff!

On the lineart layer with the Magic Wand I select the background, then invert the selection.

I create a new layer (set on normal) under the lineart layer (set on multiply). With the bucket I fill the selection with the base color, that since I'm lazy in this case is the skin color of my character!

Now I create a new normal layer over the base color layer. This will be the layer for the flat colors. I tick the box that says "clipping group" (this option allows you to color only on what is present on the level below.) I use the pen for put the flat colors.

Then it's the turn of the shading! I create a new layer set on multiply, with the opacity around 50/60% and I fill it with one color.

With the eraser I delete the parts that must be in light, then I use the marker, the blur and an eraser with low density for a softer shading.

I add another layer on multiply for the darker shadows. I use the marker here!

More shadows! The opacity of this layer must be very low. I use the marker and the blur.

The shading part is done! Not bad, but all the lights are still missing!

On a normal layer with very low opacity (20% maximum) I put a light color with the marker and then I blur it. This level must be under the shadows ones!

Let's go back over the shading layers! Now let's add a normal or overlay layer for the lights! The opacity of this layer can change.

Under the flat layer I add a layer set on multiply for put some blushes (always with the marker and then with the blur).

It's almost finished! Now it's time to color the lineart!

Above the lineart layer I make a new normal layer, I check the clipping group box, I fill it with the bucket of the color I want and I lower the opacity.
