I’ve watched this 20+ times and I’m still not certain how she manages this.
Asuka Teramoto is the 2019 Japanese All-Around Champion. Her score of 55.999 on both day one and day two was enough to beat Mai Murakami’s 54.865 from day one and 55.966 from day two. Hitomi Hatakeda got third with a 54.632 on day one and a 54.766 on day two.
Teramoto is ahead of Murakami by 1.134 after the first day of competition at 2019 All-Japan AA.
Hitomi Hatakeda is third, followed by her sister Chiaki in fourth, and Aiko Sugihara is fifth.
Sae Miyakawa finished 74th today.
Kyla Ross is the first gymnast from UCLA to win a national title on all four events during her collegiate career, and just the second-ever, following Courtney Kupets of Georgia. Ross is also the first gymnast to have won an Olympic, World, and NCAA title.
