The final installment of the Jay Legaspi Sessions is out now! Presenting, Paper Shapes. This is an all vocal performance using a loop pedal. Everything was recorded live, with no parts pre-recorded before me pressing the big red button.
This video was the biggest undertaking in terms of the sessions, and the one I’m the proudest of. Thank you to JR Pena and Daniel Dai were the creative force behind this project, and to Luke Villapaz and Michael Fernandez, who provided additional camerawork. A special thank you as well to Amanda Yu who recorded the audio and worked behind the scenes to make sure the session ran smoothly, and to Grace Subervi, who offered additional assistance on set. This video was all due to their hard work, and I can’t thank them enough!
More info can be found here on my blog. Please help me spread the word!!

This was a fun session that I produced for Jay Legaspi and my favorite of the entire sessions because of the work involved (behind the scenes blog coming early next week!). Please like and reblog to show your support, enjoy!

Part 2 of the JL Sessions is now up! More info here! Please share with the world!
Here are the lyrics:
10 Past 3 It’s 10 Past 3 and I’m wondering If I’m in past over my head and I’m Filled with a lot of anxiety I apologize in advance for Not giving you any type of warning I hope that you won’t get too mad at me
Don’t read too much between the lines, ’cause I haven’t written much this time Just want to see if I’d be fine without you in my life And my heart says no But my mind says it’s possible But can’t get you out of my head Ironic, and I know I’m not prepared
Take one last step, take a breath and just clear my head Wipe the tears from my eyes and go to bed Can’t believe the dream is ending Still I can’t stand holding back when I’m feeling us slip away Oh darling, you know that I just can’t stay And leave me at that
Lyrics and Music by Jay Legaspi
Special thanks to JR Pena and Daniel Dai for their creative direction in producing this and all the videos in the series. A big thank you again to Luke Villapaz and Shelby Chung for the additional camerawork, and a big thank you as well to Amanda Yu who was behind the scenes and the Protools rig making sure I looked and sounded good.

"Concrete jungle where dreams are made.."
It's been quite a while since I last posted, over a month to be exact. A lot has happened in that time with the major reason of my absence due to the start of my new job as an Electrical Engineer in New York City. I love it..so far. It's always been my dream to work in this great city - a city that will never get old no matter how many times I'm there. This year has been one of tough decisions, taking risks and not settling for less than what I know I'm capable of. Needless to say, it's been a long road. I'm blessed and very thankful for this opportunity to work at a top-rated engineering consulting firm - working alongside and learning from some of the brightest minds in the industry.
As I get settled into things at work and take care of this tremendous photo backlog (I still owe my sister photos from our visit to Korea..back in April!), I will start to update this as frequently and regularly as I did before. So keep an eye out for my latest work and thank you for all the inquiries - your support of my photography is why I continue to enjoy it as much as I do.
~ JR Pena
Been awhile since I've uploaded anything, just been working on wedding photos. Will get back to posting regularly once I clear all this backlog! -=)

Congratulations Marion and Joseph!
One of the best moments that one can experience in life. It was an honor to be invited to come and document this special moment tonight for two good friends of mine who just flew in from Los Angeles, CA this morning. Marion used to live up the street from me - we went to high school together, and Joseph has helped me a lot in giving my photography exposure in the NYC/LA area as part of CEmuzik. Capturing moments like this is what makes photography very fulfilling and why I will never grow tired of it - I love what I do.

Here's a video by M3 Crew's Daniel Dai of Ruby and Kevin's formal portrait session after their wedding. You can see the making of the "Spider-Man" shot shown in the previous post at the 1 minute mark. Enjoy!

Ruby and Kevin
It was definitely a huge honor for me to cover Ruby and Kevin's wedding. We all went to Bishop Ahr high school together and my mom and Kevin's mom were also classmates in nursing school in the Philippines. As I mentioned in my October 4, 2010 post from their engagement shoot, Kevin was the guy who got me into Adobe Photoshop which definitely plays a role in a lot of what I do nowadays with my photography. This personal connection to the couple made the day even more fun and memorable to cover - I would even go as far to say that it was the best event I've covered.
They put a lot of work into their wedding - there was nothing cookie-cutter about it since they literally made everything themselves. From the comic book invitations, the decorations at the reception venue, tailoring on the bridesmaids' dresses, even making their own backgrounds and props for the photobooth we provided. The list goes on and on...and on.
This is my favorite photo of the day from their formal portrait session after the wedding at Cooper's Pond in Bergenfield, NJ. Knowing Kevin's personality I knew he would be up for hanging off of the beam in the gazebo. I think it's also important to note that they had a superhero theme to their wedding. We were trying to replicate the Spider-Man kiss from the movie but since he was too far up we ended up with this shot instead -=)
Special thanks to Luke Villapaz for assisting me on the day - keeping my equipment close at hand and dumping photos onto my laptop. Definitely a tremendous help which allowed me to not miss a moment!
More photos to come soon...
