Good advice Ganondorf, what are good cheap gifts/necessities for Angel Trees? I want to help but I am a broke college student ;-;
Hi! So I'm not going to do a Ganon edit for this, since I want to go into this one a little deeper.
First off, operation Santa can get pricey considering you have to mail those. It's best to do that only as a last resort if you're tight on money, and desperate to help.
Look through the different wishlists and find ones that would be decently cheap. Simple things like kid's art kits, or yarn if you're doing a nursing home's angel tree. Do not pick a wish list with something on it that you can't afford! If a kid wants a scooter, then leave that for someone who could afford a scooter, and so on.
Babies and the elderly in general seem to be the cheaper options. They need clothes and other simple things like teethers, treats, and coloring books.
There's no shame in looking at places like the dollar store, five below, Ollie's, other cheap/discount stores, or clearance aisles. My local Walmart's clearance aisle always has a bunch of toys, and even if you find nothing specific, toys for tots doesn't call for specific.
From what I saw on operation Santa, a lot of kids want robux, which I think is pretty cheap, depending on how much you get? Idk
Just look for vague wishlists, not asking for anything specific. If a kid just asks for "bluey" you could get them a simple $5-$10 bluey plush and I'd imagine they'd be happy.
Only thing else is that you should absolutely not get them anything from thrift stores or your own home! Most wish list fulfilling projects don't accept them, and not everyone is okay getting a used gift.
Tldr; look for wishlists you know you can afford, and don't pick out one you know you can't! Angel trees are huge this year (apparently it's a trend ?), someone will pick out any kid you leave behind :)
