JR in Rio.
For the 2016 Olympics, French artist JR created three huge installations in Rio before opening ceremonies. Created from scaffolding and semi-transluscent material, the installations feature high-jumper Mohamed Younes Idress and swimmer Léonie Periault. Both of these athletes did not qualify for the 2016 Olympics and JR explains them as icons of hope, “people working hard for the passion of sport.”
