I write a lot of stories where Zuko gets hurt, let’s sort them into relevant categories.

I barely hurt Zuko

Broken Arrow (Zuko & Aang, Gaang; he doesn’t get hurt but he is uncomfortable!) | Flickering Like Fireflies (Zuko, Azula, Ozai) & A Life You Choose (Zuko & Suki - technically I don’t hurt Zuko in either of these but I do make him deal with a plague) | Take Care Of (Zukka, a micro sicfic) | A Dragon’s Guide to Life and Love in Ba Sing Se (WIP; Zukka with a very ridiculous toddler Druk) | Hands (Zukka, and I hurt Sokka, minor injury)

I hurt Zuko….but it’s not like he was going to die!

Cooler With You (Zukka + hypothermia) | Cracks (Zuko & Iroh & tooth pain) | Tea. Blankets. Tea. (Zuko & Iroh + fairy tales & blood loss) | To Begin Again (Zuko & Iroh, before season one)

I hurt Zuko…and it’s pretty bad

Boxed (Zuko & Iroh with Ozai flashbacks and heat stroke) | Burning Within (Zuko & Sokka, Gaang; to prison and beyond) | Without Which Not (Zuko & Katara; bending suppression) | Fragile Flame (Zukka with a spiritual injury) | Warriors of Sun and Shadow (Zuko & Gaang, spirit attack + paralysis) | Something You Give Yourself (Zuko & Sokka, Iroh, Gaang; Ozai loses his bending, but keep his throne and tortures his son) | You Cannot Take My Heart Alive (WIP; Zukka, with Vampire Zuko in a monster world - this was for Zukka Reverse Big Bang and has AMAZING ART)

Today's ATLA musing:

So, wait... if Aang was so against being involved in killing living things, from tiny animals to bloodthirsty genocidal dictators, and would only eat vegetarian meals and all... what was that in the first episode where he and Katara were joyfully baiting otter penguins with fish in order to get them to allow sledding on their backs?

Sure, the otter penguins would have found & eaten fish anyway, circle of life and all, but... shouldn't he have had an attack of conscience about being involved with feeding them the fish?

(Yip the Younger's take, which I believe is correct: Bryke didn't know they were going to lean on pacifism as a theme at that point in development.)

Honestly, I think lots of people would be more at peace if they followed Younger’s lead and accepted that sometimes writers don’t think things all the way through. Especially if those things happen in pilot episodes. And especially in a kids show, because sometimes you need to bend logic to let kids do stuff. And especially on a show that can be funny, because sometimes you need to acknowledge that they did something for the joke and it doesn’t have to be deeply significant…

That said, I don’t think the theory that things are different because animals is a bad one. I could see Air Nomads having a different rule set for handling animals, especially in an animal husbandry sort of context, where it could be bad for the animal to not eat meat due to being obligate carnivores.

big fan of the kid show logic where aang is virtually unrecognizable if his head arrow isn't showing.. then i thought, "what a shame that aang only wears the earthbending academy outfit for like 5 minutes".. and then i thought, "wouldn't it be funny if aang and zuko ran into each other while they both wore earth kingdom disguises"

Zukka week Day 7: Free day

As a horror fan, horror!au’s are sooooo underrated. Anyways I can’t believe I drew and rendered art for 7 whole days! Unheard of!!!

My first time finishing an art week ever. I’ve attempted many times and dropped after 2-3 days so I’m happy I have enough brainworms and love to get me through this time. The power of zukka…
