• at the age of twelve, jude witnessed his mother get murdered in front of him by a mafia boss looking to get revenge on his dad
• it fucked him up for a long time and in result caused him to harbour a lot of resentment towards his dad
• he helped to raise his little sister (mostly on his own) as his dad took to disappearing for long periods of time without any explanation until he just up and left and didn’t come back when he was fifteen
• jude fell into the “wrong crowd” around that time. falling into a circle of drugs and gang wars
• he numerous things he wasn’t proud of but everything was crashing down around him. he lost his way but after a short stint in prison, he cleaned himself up. kinda.
• after he left prison, at the age of twenty one, he went in search for his sister. determined to get himself sorted and lead by example for her.
• things were hard for a while. he had to earn olivia’s trust back and prove to her that he’s dependable.
• he got a small apartment and tried to get a “normal job” so he could pay the bills and after about six months, liv agreed to come and live with him
• the problem was just couldn’t just do a “normal job” and after not too long, he fell back into old habits. and got in touch with some old contacts
• jude was no stranger to handling guns. he’d held them plenty of times, shot them more than he’d like to admit so when he was offered a job as a gunrunner he didn’t really think twice about it
• he didn’t really know what he was signing himself up for at the time but he liked this job a lot better than his last. he lived off the thrill, the anticipation of doing something he wasn’t supposed to be doing, something illegal
• he would sometimes land himself in dangerous situations and he would come home covered in cuts and bruises or on the odd occasion a bandaged up bullet wound
• but jude soon learnt his role and then at some point, he’d landed himself a side hustle of a contract killer
• jude knew he could shoot a gun. and he had so much anger and rage pent up in him from years of unresolved conflict that taking out his anger on somebody else didn’t really faze him
• over time, he’d established himself as a very good marksman
• and over doing this job for the last coupe of years, he found himself eager to track down his mother’s killers and avenge her death
• he knew he had to be careful though. because this mafia was dangerous and he had to make sure that liv was safe. at all times. he wouldn’t let any harm come to her. he wouldn’t allow the same thing to happen to her that happened to his mom.
• and with that. he went on the run. he needed somewhere he could live and work and where he wasn’t putting his sister’s life in danger
• so he moved to santa ysabel
• as much as he hated the predicament he was in and as much as he missed his sister. he knew it was the right thing to do
