“Winter’s just cold, but that’s not a reason to hate it.  Especially since we live in New York.  Christmas means faking that you like people, trying not to shout at people that get in your way at the store, and having to listen to the same ten Christmas songs on repeat.  It sucks.”

“Curious. What are your other requirements?”

“Their name has to be Mila Kunis.  No, seriously, it just depends on the chick.  Like, there are some that are always the same, but sometimes things change.”

“No, it’s just one of my requirements.”

“So you hate winter because it’s cold.” She raised a brow as she inquired.

“I don’t hate winter.  I hate Christmas.  There’s a difference.  Winter’s fine.”

“So you’re an old fashioned type then.”

“And I’d also need about five drinks.  If that counts as old fashioned, then sure.”

“My mother is preparing for my family to come over from Russia for Christmas and it sounds like it’s going to be a packed house. I’m so excited. They’re all coming to see my show too.”

“You’re going to bare your naked ass in front of your entire family?  And then be locked up in a place with them for days?  Please, let me know how it goes.  Because this sounds like it’s going to be fucking epic.”

“And if I was?” She mused before grinning. “But no, I’m not. If I was trying you’d know.”

“I’d insist on at least having dinner and a movie first.”

Ellie gasped. “No way! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”

“Is it really though?  Because I think the summer is pretty fucking fantastic.”

catrionamac:

“Wouldn’t you like to know.” She teased. “I don’t know. I’d probably have to get another look.”

“Hey, you do you.  I’m not going to judge you based on who you’re sleeping with.  ...Are you trying to get me naked?”

“Absolutely not! Christmas is the best time of year.”

“See, everyone says that, but I’m not so sure they all believe it.  Christmas actually sucks if you think about it.  Anything you might think you like about Christmas can just as easily be turned into something you could hate.”

“I mean, if you drank enough, it’d be just like New Years. But, that’s the only advice I have for you- drinking is the only advice I ever really have.”

“Personally, I think it’s the best advice you could give someone.  It’s pretty much the advice I give to people when they have problems.  Maybe I should listen to myself for a change... and you.  Since we make the same point.”

“Just think. At least you aren’t flying out to Chicago to see them. Can’t you just put the movie on and tune it out? Let her watch it and you can work on other shit you’d rather be doing? Embrace the sweaters. Sweaters are great, unless they’re like those ugly Christmas Sweaters, then I’d probably punch someone too. Ban sweaters. Anyone who gets you one can no longer step inside your house?”

“Very true.  They’re just all coming in to see me.  Maybe, but she has a bad habit of following me around, too.  I might just have to sit there and work on shit while she watches it.  I think that seems like a pretty sensible solution.”

opheliapatterson:

“You don’t have to put up lights. Back at home,my mom would always make us kids string popcorn. I’m sure your niece would just love to do that instead of waiting for Santa. You just got to find the silver lining.”

“But why would you string the popcorn when you could eat it?  Besides, I’d still have to hang it up somewhere or put up a tree and that sounds like so much effort.”

noel-vreeland:

“Exactly. I have one day a week to do whatever I want. I should be able to enjoy it. And I choose to spend that day sleeping off a hangover from the night before before waking up and doing it all over again in the evening. I’m almost ready just finishing up my makeup. My makeup in the show is really bland.” 

“Hey, no judgement here.  Especially since that’s how I like to spend my dark days.  Can’t say I know what that’s like anymore.  Used to, but now I look like I’m wearing an entire thing of eyeliner.  Which takes way more effort to get off than I really want to admit.”

“Who said I was talking about him, hmm?” She shook her head with a laugh. “I suppose yours is okay.”

“Well, who else’s ass have you seen on a regular basis?  Totally better than okay.”

“But it’s Christmas, you know..” She began to sing,”The most wonderful time of the year?” She laughed, “There has got to be something you enjoy about the Christmas season.”

“Please don’t sing that.  I hate putting up Christmas decorations, they run my electricity bill up, the entertainment is the same every year, I get to wait in line so my niece can sit on a creepy old man’s lap, so... no.  Not a fan of Christmas.”
