Made an alt just to say this as I dont need these people coming for me or whatever is happening. But this is disgusting behavior on the end of the "victims"
I barely wish to call them that. I'm 27 years old and like many people on the internet I'm a victim to grooming. Actual malicious intended grooming. Theyre not victims of grooming here. These folks are absolutely valid for feeling disgusted and angered by Cupids actions, she did hurt their feelings and damage their friendship, she fucked up! However, shes not a groomer. She was a teenager that made mistakes.
Ive known Cupid in online spaces long before they joined the bandai fandom and made that server. She doesnt have it in her heart to be malicious as these people are making her out to be. She was actively groomed while running a pretty large server with her free time between needing to coddle a grown man and needing to work to live. She was 17 when she made her mistakes and 18 when she was being manipulated. I dont cast blame on her one bit for being scared or "dry" or snappy, its not okay behavior but if you were in her shoes constantly working, living in an abusive home, constantly putting out for someone grooming you, all while needing to tend to the wants of people in a discord server, would you be happy go lucky all the time? Not an excuse but for the love of pete let that sit with you for a minute.
On top of this, why is there so many inconsistencies in the original document when it comes to the actions of 17 year olds. TJ was 17 during this documents release and they were coddled from what I was reading, "Just a widdle guy." is the vibe im getting from it. Cupid? Who was 17 at the time? Old enough to know better! Old enough for this, old enough for that! Make a point and stick to it. You cannot have double standards in a document like this! Cupids points with this document outwardly sneaking in ways to make her look worse than she is? Shes not wrong!
Especially when they put stuff back into the document that was proven to not be true? I was shown the document before and after the "f-list" content was removed. And especially after Cupid cleared the air with both TJ and Briar, darn, I think she was nicer than she should have been when we consider these people posed as her groomer, who had her terrified mind you, throwing her legal name and such just to play in her face! The authors of the document did all of this strategically because they knew that new eyes would be seeing this. For that they are disgusting.
And again, as a victim of grooming myself, I feel repulsed considering the authors of this document victims of grooming. No victim is gonna chase someone around on the internet that theyre supposedly scared of. Cupid wanted nothing to do with her groomer after dropping him but she was pressured by TJ into making a document! Just for it to get swept under the rug by the ones who told her to speak up! Cupid left out things in her document out of respect but the youngest person involved, Briar, made an alt to try and follow Cupid on her 18+ private. Would this not be actively trying to not only evade an 18+ space as a minor but also cyberstalk someone who has done all they can to keep you away from them? With the "victims" comfort and safety in her consideration mind you! Tracking down her uninvolved friends just to send a message thats seen as nothing but a joke? What victim goes "Your friend is a pussy" when allegedly wanting to "just talk"? I dont blame Cupid for shutting that down and stepping back because that is mental behavior on another level. Especially when all she wants is to recover and grow from this. In another post its stated that Briar is allegedly in counseling by the way. I say allegedly because to me it looks like its not working, does their counselor know about them stalking and harassing a grown adult that wants nothing to do with them? The same adult theyre apparently scared of? Theyre not scared and they see this as nothing but a game of chase. They dangle a half assed callout document over the head of someone who has been fighting for their recovery. That doesnt give them the superiority they think it does. Cupid has gone to therapy online and in person, shes been to support groups that I showed her! Her progress is clear as day to people that actually cared and took the time to know her, to people that took two seconds to realize "this was blown out of proportion".
I hate callouts and everything they stand for, this situation was one that should have been and was intended to be handled in private! But again, clout chasing as the kids say these days. Buzzwords and a name to go with it is enough to get the pot stirring. Theyre twitter users so I dont know what else I could have expected when I first read that document.
I noticed from someone elses reblog too, something about TJ emotionally exploiting Briar? And after that TJ is allowed to be friends and keep interacting with them? I feel more worried about that than Cupid honestly! TJ had intentions to weaponize Briars frustration to the point where Cupid was told by another adult that Briar was scared of TJ! But theyre cool right? They were only 17 right? Sound familiar? The double standard is disgusting.
I dont blame Cupid from stepping back, I dont see this as cowardice like Briar and TJ do. I see it as being grown. She made a document to get the facts straight, took accountability and apologized several times, and she left. Frankly I feel that people calling her a groomer and calling her a pedophile owe her an apology. Pedophile especially, where do you get off?! Accusations made like that without the full picture are disgusting and water down terminology. You cannot throw such strong, serious, harmful labels like that.
This is all I wish to speak on the matter. My heart goes out to Cupid in these crazy times. TJ and Briar deserved a better leader and a better friend, they deserve to heal from the turmoil of this situation, but they also need to learn to act right themselves. Practice what you go and preach. I will add Cupids fandom tags to this too, her old friends need to know whats right. May everyone involved heal and drop this.
