I’m really loving Sun Bones. They make me feel like I’m sitting in the warm sun even though I haven’t really left my bed for two days. Listen to their track Driving Song.
Super cool song
Sun Bones is an indie "chamber punk" band based in Tucson, AZ, making a name for themselves with...
I know that this has nothing to do with juicing, but if you want a refreshed mind to go with your refreshed bodies, you should check out these tunes, and follow them on tumblr!
New Juice Fast
A little over a year from the end of the last one, I'm going to be starting again. This time for a month.
A little recap on how my last year has been: I started my career as a teacher, teaching elementary school full time. Needless to say, the first year of teaching was really stressful.
I have now been a vegetarian for about a year (meat just kind of tasted gross to me after I ended the last juice fast etc etc) but that doesn't mean I kept up with eating well. It's surprising how much utter crap you can put into your body that doesn't contain meat.
Anyhow, I've gained back a little bit of the weight (not all, luckily) that I lost during last year's fast, and I am hoping to get rid of that, and then some.
BUT I'm almost forgetting the most important update, and that's that last year's juice fast CURED MY HYPO-THYROID DISEASE! I kid you not, I went to the doctor for the first time in years in February, and my thyroid is now in perfect health!
Day one already sucks, and I feel way hungry. I'd appreciate all of your support and kind words this go around, as my followers on tumblr are a huge part of what kept me going last year and helped me lose almost 50 lbs and cure my hypo-thyroid disease.
Soup!
So, tonight I made a delicious soup! I kind of just threw things together, but it turned out great!
Vegetable Broth Tomato Sauce Carrots Red Potato Celery Kale Green Beans Onions Garlic Salt Pepper
It's a really thick and chunky soup, but it was really good, and I'll probably make it again.
Guess whose pants size is 12 sizes smaller?
Hi, I stumbled upon your blog by chance and am now really inspired to do a juice fast. I bought a juicer today so I guess that's the first start. I was wondering what kind/how much exercise you incorporate into your daily schedule? Congratulations on your results by the way!
It's recommended to only do LIGHT exercise during your juice fast. This means seriously to take a 10-20 minute walk or something similar, and that's it! The way the fast works is that you are taking in way less calories but way more nutrients, preventing your body from going into starvation mode. If you add exercise past the walking, you'll stop seeing weight-loss due to an excess of energy expenditure vs. caloric intake.
Hope that helps.
The end (or is it the beginning?)
Hey tumblr,
So I am cutting the juice fast short. Now, for those of you whom I have been of encouragement to, please do not be discouraged. The reason I am ending the juice fast is because I have started to experience all of the signs that my body is ready to stop fasting. Firstly, my hunger has returned, and all research I have done has pointed to that being your body telling you to return to food. Also, my tongue (which has been white-coated for most of this fast) has returned to pink, another sign from my research that my body is ready to end it. After researching, I talked to many family members and friends and collected several people's advice, and decided that it was time.
Again, I am not stopping because it's too hard. I could go for the remaining 18 if I really wanted to, but the point of this whole thing is to be good to my body, and to listen to what it needs, and it's telling me it's time.
My first meal afterwards was an apricot, a couple strawberries, and some carrots with cilantro hummus.
So what are my plans? I am going to be eating 100% clean starting today, and it will be a plant dominated diet. I am still going to juice for one meal and one snack a day. I still don't know whether I'll ever go back to meat (right now I have no desire to) but I detoxed my kitchen of anything with additives and preservatives, and replaced it with all natural alternatives. I am going to be eating as well as I've been juicing, and I am going to implement a vigorous exercise routine, and get into recreational cycling.
I WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE THIS BLOG ABOUT MY NUTRITION AND EXERCISE
RESULTS
In 41 days, I lost 48 pounds, feel great, and none of my clothes fit >.<
My skin has cleared up
I have tons of energy
My taste buds have changed. I like veggies and fruits I never had before.
Best of all, after doing this, I know I can make a life change

I will post before and after photos soon.
Pizza Everywhere
There's a staff pizza appreciation lunch thing today or something. Everyone has pizza in their hands, and I smell pizza, and I am starting to get hungry again! 20 more days...20 more days...20 more days... (Not that I'd go back to pizza anyway, but at least I could munch on something healthy in these circumstances)
What are some of you fave juice recipes? I need new stuff to try. Tired of the same things all the time.
Breakfast: 10 oz orange juice, 6 oz carrot juice
Breakfast: 2 Apples, 4 carrots, 1/2 inch ginger root
Lunch/Dinner: 4 carrots, 4 celery, 2 apples, 1 bunch spinach
Lunch/Dinner: Pinapple (as much as you want) with 1 bunch Kale
Lunch/Dinner: Peeled sweet potato, 1 orange, 1 carrot, 1 red bell pepper, 2 apples, 2 red beets (with greens)
Lunch/Dinner: Grapes (big bushel) with 1 bunch spinach
Hope this helps.
Cool. Thanks. What kind of juice should you drink? Like homemade or can you use the juice you buy at the shops? How do you make sure you get all of the vitamins and minerals and nutrition? How fast do you have changes happen? Is it hard to stick to? Do you feel physically better? Are bowel movements changed? Can you drink other things like water?
I drink anything that is a fruit or a vegetable. Just try to make sure you keep it about 80% veggie and 20% fruit. Start with a base (something with a lot of juice) like carrots, celery, cucumber, apples, tomatoes, etc. Then add greens (spinach, kale, collard greens, etc) And then you add some flavors (like lemon, ginger, lime, cilantro, mint, etc.) You have to home make it in a juicer (store bought juices are not fresh and thus dont have the nutrients, and are chalk full of preservatives).
Honestly, simply varying the types of fruits and veggies you have will take care of any and all nutrition needed.
As far as the speed in changes goes, I've lost 44 pounds in 38 days.
It actually isn't as hard to stick to as I thought it would be. The first couple of weeks were hard, but if you can stick that long you can stick it out for the full 30 or 60 days (whatever you are going for)
I feel physically great!
Bowel movements are changed in that there are less of them. I usually "go" once a day, and its consistency varies (maybe tmi, but useful info) I've never felt in danger of losing control.
You need to drink a TON of water. You can also drink natural teas, and hot water with lemon.
Day 37
So far I have lost 42 lbs. The weight loss has slowed WAY down, but I am still happy that it's still slowly disappearing.
We are having our apartment fumigated, and therefore had to stay in a hotel last night...without my juicer... It was so tempting to order room service or something, but I just ignored it (not exactly the healthiest choice either, but I don't want to spoil the fast now). And then in the morning, there was a breakfast menu and I had to make myself stop looking at it. Haha
BUT! I didn't cheat, and still have been only putting juice into my body...for 37 days... Ready to be done, but confident I'll do it.
Robeks:
The only place in my town that is actually a juice-bar (We have a Xoom Juice and a Jamba Juice, neither of which actually do juice). My wife and I tried it out for the first time recently, and not only did they have a ton of choices for my juices, but it was also delicious, and they had couches with board games to play while you enjoy your juice!
Also, they allow people to check out the fat sick and nearly dead dvd for free, which is neat.
In other news, I've lost 40 pounds! Woohoo!
Day 31. 1 month Weigh-in.
My one month weigh-loss total ended up being 37 lbs
Day 30 video, as promised!
Hello! I just wanted to congratulate you on your Juice fast so far! It's encouraging to see someone else going for a 60 day juice fast! Now I can tell my friends I am not as "insane" as they think. I am on day 19 myself...looking forward to seeing your progress!
Hey, thanks!I hope you are doing well so far. If you have any questions or any suggestions for me, please don't hesitate to message me.
