Pregnancy 2.0 || Rytana
Tagging: Ryder & Santana Lynn When: 4th November (ish, super late either way) Where: Their apartment Notes: Santana shares some news with Ryder, she’s expecting again.
Santana was in shock. She couldn't pull her eyes away from the positive pregnancy test that was resting on the basin, the two lines almost mocking her. This wasn't how her life was supposed to go. Her son would be two years old in a month but she knew she wasn't ready to be a mom again. She still wanted time with just Joshua and Ryder, that was enough for her. Biting down on her bottom lip, the brunette washed her hands before picking the test up and throwing it in the trash. While Santana was on a hiatus from work to focus on her family, she couldn't help but feel this baby had come at the worst time. She and Ryder had only been married a few months, this was supposed to be their Honeymoon phase. It was about to be ruined. Remembering how her husband reacted when she informed him of her first pregnant, the Latina sucked in a breath as she prepared herself before walking out of the bathroom and into the couple's bedroom.
Ryder had gotten ready for bed earlier than Santana, now playing on his phone as he relaxed and waited for his wife to come and join him in bed. He switched his phone off as he saw Santana coming back in from their bathroom, putting the phone on the bedside table, smiling as he caught sight of the framed wedding photo that was now sat there. Their wedding had been one of the best days of his life and not just because it meant he was now Santana's husband, and he got to wear a ring that told the world that. It'd just been a fun day of celebration with all of their family and friends. "Hey." He smiled, turning his attention back to her. "What's up?" He asked, thinking to himself that she looked nervous for some reason.
Santana offered Ryder a forced smile as she joined him on the bed. Licking her lips nervously, she glanced down at Ryder's wedding ring before locking eyes with her husband. "Don't freak out, okay? Because I swear to god if it's a repeat of last time, I will cut you." She warned, sucking in a breath. "I'm pregnant." Santana whispered, carefully studying Ryder's face as she broke the news.
Ryder noticed Santana looking at his ring, smiling as he looked at it himself. He still was still on a post-wedding and post-honeymoon high and he didn't see that coming to an end anytime soon. He frowned as she spoke, wondering what she had to say that was so bad she thought he'd freak out. Her comment made sense though as she continued and told him that she was pregnant. "You're... you're pregnant?" He repeated slowly, staring at her as he tried to process the news, the news that he was having another baby with Santana. "We're having another kid?"
Santana nodded her head. "Yes." She replied, still trying to process it herself. "I've known for about five minutes... So it's a shock to both of us." She felt the need to add. "God." She mumbled, laying back so that her head was resting against her pillow.
Ryder was continuing to process it but a grin slowly spread across his face. "Wow another kid... this is so awesome." He wouldn't have particularly picked this as the best time to have another baby but any addition their family would be very much loved and welcome in his eyes, no matter what the timing was. He hadn't reacted so well the first time around but they were married now, with a walking/talking toddler and he was a lot more confident in his ability to handle this. He frowned as she didn't seem so happy about it, turning on his side so he could face her. "Are you okay San?"
Santana was relieved that Ryder was happy but she just couldn't make herself feel the same way. "I don't know." She replied honestly. "I don't think I'm ready to have another baby... Plus I'm not exactly looking forward to labour because whoever said you forget about the pain is a fucking liar." She mumbled before letting out a sigh. "Besides, Josh is not even two... I wanted at least another few years with just him."
Ryder "Santana..." He started before trailing off, not really knowing what to say to her. It wasn't like he could make her un-pregnant so they were going to be having a baby whether she was ready or not. "I get it, I wasn't expecting to have another baby for another few years and we both know this wasn't planned, but neither was Josh and look how awesome that turned out." He shrugged. "I can't do anything about the labour part I'm afraid but I can promise you that it will be worth it. Spending time with just Josh may have been your first choice but just think about how much fun he'll have playing with a brother or sister and they can grow up together. I freaked out on you last time but you knew we could do it, and maybe it's my turn to believe in us."
Santana felt herself tearing up so she quickly wiped them away before they had a chance to fall. "I'm just scared." She admitted softly, letting out a puff of air as she tried to compose herself. "What if we can't give them equal attention? The baby is going to take up so much of my time, especially since I'll be breastfeeding. What if Josh starts resenting me? What if he doesn't understand why I'm not around as much? I can't have him hating me."
Ryder slid himself closer to Santana, wrapping his arms around her in an attempt to comfort her. "That is so not something you need to worry about. We'll definitely be able to give both our babies the equal love and time they deserve. We handled everything the first time around and now we know what we're doing so it'll be easier the second time. We might be walking zombies for a few months but we can do this Santana, everything will be fine." He murmured. "Josh will never hate you. He might say he does when he's 16 and we ground him for throwing a house party behind our backs but he won't mean it. You're already an amazing mom, you got this."
Santana wrapped her arms around Ryder when he moved closer, burying her head into her husband's chest. "Everything is going to be twice as hard this time around. I'm not sure I'm ready."
Ryder sighed, not sure what exactly he could say that would convince Santana that everything was going to be okay. "Who cares if it's twice as hard? We're in a much better place than we were before so we're at least twice as strong. We were still getting to know each other again back then, but now we're freaking married and we live in an awesome apartment in Manhattan. We won't have to worry about having enough room or having to move whilst you're pregnant, we know everything about each other, we've already done this once and we'll still have all of Josh's stuff which we can re-use. I know it's scary and I know it's not the best timing but I know that we can do this, Mrs Santana Lynn."
Santana wasn't 100% sure but she trusted Ryder and she knew that believing him would be her best option. "Okay." She whispered, biting down on her bottom lip. "Just promise me that we'll make extra time for Little Man so he understands everything and that we won't forget out date nights when the new baby comes?"
Ryder smiled softly when she seemed to at least verbally agree with him, whether she actually believed him or not was another thing entirely. "I promise." He nodded, knowing it was one that he fully intended to keep. "You're on hiatus from work, right? I just have my writing so it's not like I have set hours or can't work from home or take a break. We'll have all the time in the world to dedicate to our two babies. Of course we can still have date nights, I think I might go a little insane without them."
Santana smiled softly and leaned forward to press a kiss to his lips. "Maybe I should tell my bosses no more music for a while. Do photoshoots and interviews but keep a low profile throughout my pregnancy. We have enough money for me to take a year off. I should probably take advantage of it... Maybe just write and even look over some scripts."
Ryder smiled against her lips as he kissed her back. "Do whatever you want." He suggested softly. "If you want no music and a low profile then do it, you've already made two successful albums so I'd say you've deserved it." He shrugged. "Maybe we can even do some more writing together whenever we're not using our spare time to sleep or catch up on sex." He joked.
Santana laughed softly. "I think I deserve a break... and my son deserves me to be 110% present while it's just him." She admitted. "Oh god, remember how horny I was when I was pregnant the first time around? I might go nuts."
Ryder "Sounds like a plan to me." He smiled. He didn't like that Santana was guilt-tripping herself so much about it all but he was sure that Josh would also love having both of his parents around. They just had to careful not to over-do it in case he got used to it and then there was suddenly a huge difference for him when the second baby arrived. "Yeah, I remember." He chuckled softly, deciding not to joke about the fact it was sex that had led to their huge fight the last time around. "Well if we're both here all the time then we can totally take care of that whenever Josh is asleep." He smirked. "Afternoon nap time will have never been so fun."
Santana laughed quietly, feeling herself relaxing over the idea of having another child. "I can't believe we're having another kid." She whispered after a moment. "God, I'm going to get so fat."
Ryder hummed in agreement, definitely relating to the disbelief she was feeling. He wasn't even sure it'd hit him fully yet that he was going to be a dad again. "We're having another kid." He repeated softly. "Josh is gonna have a little brother or sister... it's crazy." He smiled before shaking his head at her. "Being pregnant is not the same as being fat, and you still look sexy with a bump so it'll be fine."
Santana rolled her eyes. "Trust me, it is. My back was so sore last time... I couldn't see my fucking feet and my ankles became rolls. You feel so massive when you're nearly the seven month mark and then you cry in the shower because you still have two months left." She laughed.
Ryder "Well I can give you all the back rubs and foot rubs that you want if that makes it any less painful." He offered, not liking how much Santana had to go through with all this compared to him. His part was over and done with until the baby came. "And if you ever want distracting in the shower then you know where I am."
Santana pouted. "You won't be able to lift me up in the shower for too much longer." She pointed out, her fingers tracing over his arms. "My stomach is going to take up too much room."
Ryder "I reckon we still have another few months before that happens." He replied, watching as her fingers moved over his arms. "And then we'll just have to get as many rounds in as we can before that happens." He added playfully. "If last time is anything to go by then the worst part will be the time between when you're too pregnant to have sex and the time your body needs to recover... that'll be our longest dry spell since the last time around."
Santana groaned. "We didn't have sex for over two months. By eight months pregnant, I was over everything penis shaped and then when I wanted you again, my body physically couldn't handle it."
Ryder laughed as she groaned, remembering the feeling well. "Yeah, that sounds about right... I guess we better make the most of it before we reach that point again."
Santana hummed softly. "Yeah, I guess that means we should." She replied, running her fingers through her hair. Without thinking, Santana placed her left hand against her stomach like she normally did before bed because it was a comfortable position. This time, it took on a while new meaning. Running her thumb against her stomach and smiled softly at Ryder. "I'm pregnant." She restated, the moment finally hitting her.
Ryder smiled, gently placing his left hand over the top of hers, smiling both at the idea of the baby growing inside her stomach and the sight of their wedding rings next to each other. "You're pregnant..." He repeated, another grin spreading across his face as he pressed a kiss to her temple. This moment was so much sweeter than the last time this had happened and it just made the whole thing more enjoyable.
Santana let out a teary laugh. "I'm barely even pregnant and I'm already crying." She told Ryder, shaking her head at how stupid she was being. "This feels a lot better than when I told you about Josh." She whispered after a moment.
Ryder laughed, bringing up his right hand to brush her cheek gently and wipe away any stray tears. "You're allowed to be emotional, I know you do have a heart." He joked, humming in agreement with her second statement. "Yeah it does. That's because I was scared last time and that turned me into a jackass. But I'm not scared this time around. Well I am but it's a good scared. It's an exciting, I know we got this scared."
Santana "You can come to the first Doctor appointment this time." She reminded him. "It's amazing... Seeing him for the first time. I know you came to the second but it's going to be great seeing this one together."
Ryder "Sounds great to me." He grinned, looking forward to getting to enjoy the whole pregnancy with Santana. Sure they'd probably have their arguments, especially when she was feeling super hormonal, but it would probably be nothing compared to their last pregnancy fight. "I can't wait... seeing our new little boy, or girl, is going to be awesome."
Santana smiled. "We make a good looking kid so boy or girl, it has won the genetic lottery." She laughed, her thumb brushing against Ryder's hand that was still resting on her stomach.
Ryder "Hell yeah we do. Josh is like, the cutest kid ever." He smiled. "Basically our family is perfect and it's only going to get more perfect."
Santana "He's so tiny and perfect. I just fucking love him so much." She replied, moving her body to snuggle in closer to Ryder. "Thank you for helping me through my little meltdown." She added after a moment. "For reminding me about all the good this baby will bring."
Ryder smiled, wrapping both his arms back around Santana as she cuddled in closer to him. "No worries." He murmured. "You helped me last time so I was just returning the favour, and it will. It will bring so much good." He added softly. "I imagine our parents are gonna be stoked too, a second grandkid for them to spoil."
Santana: pressed a kiss to his chest and smiled. "My mom was talking about us having another kid at our wedding. I guess she'll get her wish early since we probably conceived on our honeymoon."
Ryder "Yeah I guess she will." He chuckled, knowing his own parents would be thrilled too. Plus it was yet another addition to make the Lynn family events even bigger. "Probably... there was a lot of sex that happened." He laughed, knowing they'd really made the most of their time away.
Santana smirked as she remembered their honeymoon. They had spent two weeks in Mexico, the first week alone as a couple and the second week Joshua joined them. "Who would have thought weddings rings would make us so horny?" She laughed.
Ryder laughed, remembering spending most of their honeymoon unable to keep his hands off Santana and vice versa. It had been amazing to just get away from everything and relax for two weeks. "For real." He chuckled. "That was honestly the best trip of my life." He smiled, it'd been the perfect mix of letting loose and getting drunk for the first week and a relaxing holiday with his family for the second week. "We definitely need to go away more often."
Santana hummed softly. "We should go away for Christmas?" She suggested softly. "I'll still be newly pregnant and probably throwing up so maybe we could rent a cabin and have a quiet Christmas since last year was hectic?" She suggested softly.
Ryder "Look at you, thinking about Christmas already. It's almost like you're looking forward to it." He teased, knowing it was usually him who brought up Christmas first. "If you wanna do that then sure, sounds good to me. We did the Lynn Christmas last year so I'm happy to do it your way this year." He shrugged. "What are we gonna do for Thanksgiving too? That's in a few weeks... did you wanna go home for it or stay here?"
Santana relaxed when Ryder agreed to a relaxed Christmas. She wasn't sure she could do two Lynn Christmases in a row. Scrunching up her face in distaste at the mention of Thanksgiving, the brunette shook her head. "The idea of turkey makes me wanna puke." She admitted with a laugh. "Maybe we can go home? Have it at my mom's? That way I can be comfortable in my old bedroom if I'm sick."
Ryder knew his family Christmases were intense and he was grateful that Santana had gone last year. He still wanted his kids to experience them but he was also happy to wait, knowing they'd appreciate it more when they were a bit older anyway. "Well Thanksgiving dinner might be interesting if that doesn't change." He laughed. "Sounds good to me, I'll even come hold your hair out the way if you like."
Santana smiled softly. "You better... Since all the hard work to create this baby for you was never really that hard to begin with." She laughed. "Well I mean you were hard but it wasn't exactly difficult."
Ryder laughed, humming in agreement. "Yeah I was." He chuckled. "But for real, anything you want for the next nine months, just let me know. I can hold your hair out the way, get you food, I can handle Josh when he gets too hyper or too much and you can treat me as your booty call too."
Santana "I planned on it." She admitted with a grin. "Thank you though. For offering, I needed to hear it." Santana added softly.
Ryder "Not a problem." He whispered, leaning in to press a kiss against her lips. "I love you... and I love our new baby already."

Spring Cleaning || Rytana
Tagging: Ryder Lynn and Santana Lopez Where: The apartment When: 7th May Notes: Santana decides to clean their room up and comes across some old mementos.
Santana sat in the middle of the walk in wardrobe she and Ryder shared with her legs crossed as she began going through the few boxes she had stashed away from her old apartment when they had moved into their current home. With Joshua at Quinn and Sam's place for the night, the blonde had been wanting a night with her godson for a while now, Santana had decided it was the perfect time for a little Spring Cleaning. Their apartment wasn't big enough for all the junk they, mostly Santana, kept in their wardrobe so it was time for a change. Throwing a few things to the side which she would donate, the brunette couldn't stop the smile that graced her lips when she came across her 'Ryder Box' that she had made sure to keep even years after their break-up. She remembered packing it when they moved into this apartment but beginning heavily pregnant and tired, Santana hadn't paid it much attention. Actually, she had forgotten all about it completely. Biting down on her bottom lip as she opened it, the Latina smiled when the first thing she saw was Ryder's old football jersey neatly folded.
Ryder was still getting used to the idea of Santana being friends with Quinn again, not that he minded since the blonde had voluntarily taken Josh for the night. But instead of wanting to relax on the couch with him, Santana had apparently decided that she wanted to clean their apartment with her child-free time. It wasn't like it didn't need it though, he liked to think it was all Santana with her extensive wardrobe with more clothes than she could ever need, but there was a lot of his crap too. They'd made a start on some of the wardrobe before he'd decided to go get a drink from the kitchen. He grabbed two beers from the fridge, opening them both before heading back to their wardrobe. "Is that what I think it is?" He asked, stood in the doorway as he noticed his jersey in the box Santana had open in front of her. He walked back in, sitting down opposite her and offering one of the beers to her as he took a swig from the other.
Santana looked up from her spot on the floor when she heard the sound of her fiancé's voice. Accepting the beer, she opened it before taking a quick mouthful. "Yeah it is." She replied, placing the bottle on the floor in a place that it wouldn't be knocked over. "It's my Ryder Box." She laughed, handing Ryder his old jersey as she continued to go through it. "I kept everything worth keeping the first time we dated." She explained softly. "From photos to a coaster from the bar I got you drunk at for the first time."
Ryder "Your Ryder Box?" He repeated, raising an eyebrow at her. He took his jersey from her, running his hand over the fabric. He'd loved being on the Titans and being able to wear the jersey in his hands was definitely the thing that had saved him in high school. Without football, he would have just given up on his grades entirely and probably become a social recluse who was too scared to even talk to girls. "Oh my god, are you serious?" He laughed, leaning over to look at the things Santana had stored away. "You're even soppier than I thought you were." He teased, taking another sip of his beer.
Santana narrowed her eyes at Ryder. "Tornillo te." She muttered, ignoring the smile on his lips. "I never did that shit with anyone else." She felt the need to say. "You lived so fucking far away... I wanted something that reminded me of you at all times." She added before locking eyes with him. "Besides, you can't tell me you never kept anything of mine. I know for a fact the naked photos I sent you would have made an appearance once or twice."
Ryder laughed as she narrowed her eyes at him, and he just gave her a playful smile. His smile became softer as she spoke, knowing how it was just another example of how much he'd meant to her and the feeling had been very mutual. "So far away... too far away." He nodded in agreement. The distance had sucked majorly for them, but being together hundreds of miles apart was still better than not being together at all. "Well I'm not gonna deny that." He laughed as she mentioned her naked photos. "Best photos I've ever been sent, hands down."
Santana "Damn fucking right they're the best photos you've ever been sent." She replied with a laugh, reaching for her beer and taking a few mouthfuls. "Besides look how cute we look." She added, picking up one of the many photos she had kept of the couple and handed it to Ryder. "I'm pretty sure we were drunk." She laughed.
Ryder "See I hope you appreciated my photos just as much." He joked, taking the photo from her. He smiled as he looked down at it, they looked so young and innocent - with no idea what the future held for them. "Probably. You were a terrible influence on me, getting me drunk all the time and getting me to have sex. Just terrible." He laughed. "Can you imagine what we would have said if the person taking this photo would have told us we'd be here now? Living together in an awesome Manhattan apartment, engaged and already killin' it at the parenting game?"
Santana offered Ryder a smirk. "You loved it. Teaching you sex was the best thing I've ever done and I know you appreciated it." She replied before her smirk softened into a smile. "I wouldn't have believed them but I would have hoped like fuck that person was telling us the truth. I wanted you to be my happily ever after... Even before I worked out I deserved one just as much as any other girl." She admitted honestly.
Ryder "Of course I loved it." He laughed, nodding in agreement with her. "I'd have been crazy not to enjoy it or appreciate it." He shrugged, his own soft smile playing on his lips. "Yeah that sounds about right, and you deserve the world Lopez - I'm glad you're starting to see that now." He replied sincerely, knowing she'd never really believed she could be happy before. "And it's so crazy to think that I came to New York to spend a few weeks out of Lima. I just thought I'd be crashing on your couch and that would be it. I don't think I ever even dreamed that we'd kiss, let alone end up here. I definitely wasn't expecting that." He added, jokingly referencing his own song. "So, what else do you have in your Ryder box?" He asked, putting the photo in his hand down.
Santana laughed. "You are so fucking corny." She told him before leaning forward to press a quick kiss to Ryder's lips. "I'm glad I told you to kiss me. Best decision ever." She added before she continued going through the box. "I printed out a few emails you sent me. The important ones." She announced, picking up the pieces of paper before handing them to her fiancé. Handing Ryder a few more photos, the Latina bit down on her bottom lip as her eyes landed on a sheet of paper that had the words 'The Ryder Song' jotted down messily as a title. "Oh wow." She whispered, her eyes widening slightly before she took out the slightly crumbled piece of paper. "I completely forgot about this."
Ryder rolled his eyes at her corny comment. "It's called being romantic, San." He replied with a jokingly serious tone, kissing her back as her lips met his. He took the emails from her, beginning to read through some of them. "God my spelling was even worse back then." He laughed as he read about his old high school problems and how they seemed so insignificant now. "What did you forget about?" He asked, looking up at her as she spoke.
Santana shook her head. "You were trying and I know writing to me helped, even if only a little." She replied, defending him from his own words. "A song." She added after a moment. "I wrote it six months or so after we broke up. Tom tagged you in a photo on Facebook with a Cheerio at a party. You weren't kissing or anything but she was hugging you and I just... It made me realize what I had lost." She admitted quietly.
Ryder smiled at just how quick Santana was to defend him, even if he had meant it an observational way rather than a self-deprecating one. "Oh..." He murmured, thinking back to exactly how it felt in those months after the break up. He didn't remember the photo in question but then he had been to a fair few parties in his senior year, trying to get drunk and forget about how lonely he was without Santana. "I see... can I read it? Or hear it?" He asked softly. "And you can say no." He added, knowing stuff like that could be pretty personal.
Santana focused back on the piece of paper at Ryder's question and after a moment, she nodded. "I'll sing it." She whispered, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as she tried to remember the melody.
I miss your soft lips, I miss your white sheets I miss the scratch of your unshaved face on my cheek And this is so hard 'cause I didn't see That you were the love of my life and it kills me
I see your face in strangers on the street I still say your name when I'm talking in my sleep And in the limelight, I play it off fine But I can't handle it when I turn off my night light
But I can't handle it when I turn off my night light
They say that true love hurts, well this could almost kill me Young love murder, that is what this must be I would give it all to not be sleeping alone Alone
The life is fading from me while you watch my heart bleed Young love murder, that is what this must be I would give it all to not be sleeping alone Alone
Ryder smiled softly as she agreed to sing it for him. He took a sip of his beer before putting it down as he listened to Santana start to sing, the lyrics resonating with him immediately.
Santana moved her eyes to focus on Ryder's before offering him a small smile.
Remember the time we jumped the fence when The Stones were playing and we were too broke to get in You held my hand and they made me cry while I swore to God it was the best night of my life
Or when you took me across the world We promised that this would last forever but now I see It was my past life, a beautiful time Drunk off of nothing but each other 'til the sunrise
Drunk off of nothing but each other 'til the sunrise
They say that true love hurts, well this could almost kill me Young love murder, that is what this must be I would give it all to not be sleeping alone Alone
The life is fading from me while you watch my heart bleed Young love murder, that is what this must be I would give it all to not be sleeping alone Alone
Ryder smiled back at her, listening to her lyrics as she continued to sing her song for him.
Santana It was a past life, a beautiful time Drunk off of nothing but each other 'til the sunrise
They say that true love hurts, well this could almost kill me Young love murder, that is what this must be I would give it all to not be sleeping alone Alone
The life is fading from me while you watch my heart bleed Young love murder, that is what this must be I would give it all to not be sleeping alone Alone
Ryder listened to her lyrics, looking down at the photos in front of him and all the memories from their past and he couldn't help but smile softly to himself about how far they'd come.
Santana placed the piece of paper back in the box and let out a small humorless laugh. "I was so sad when I wrote that." She admitted softly. "But it's kind of awesome how far we've come."
Ryder "I was so sad when you wrote that too. I may have been hugging Cheerios but I was lonely without you." He confessed. "It really is, I can't believe we get to spend the rest of our lives together, we never have to be that sad again." He smiled. "And your song was awesome, by the way."
Santana smiled softly. "It's just for us... I'll never release it." She admitted after a moment. Pushing the box to the side, the brunette moved to straddle Ryder's lap and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I didn't really even date after you." She told him. "I focused on earning money and becoming a singer. When I saw you in that bar my heart skipped a beat. We always said you might see one another again and I just... I was hopeful, even if you were waiting for a date."
Ryder "Got it." He murmured, not that he minded either way. It was Santana's song and she could do what she liked with it. He smiled, moving his beer bottle of the way as she moved to straddle his lap. He wrapped his arms loosely around her waist, leaning forward to press a quick kiss to her lips. "I had a few things with girls here and there, but nothing was ever serious. I was just trying to move on from you and I think I convinced myself I had but I never really got over you." He shrugged. "And yeah, even if I was waiting for a date, I'm glad we ran into each other again."
Santana ran her fingertips along Ryder's biceps. "I noticed your arms straight away." She grinned, not being able to stop the laugh from escaping her lips. "And how manly you looked. Not that you didn't the first time around it was just... Different."
Ryder laughed, he knew how much Santana liked his arms and they had got a lot bigger and more defined in the five years that they were apart. "Well I guess puberty finished and I wasn't a kid anymore." He shrugged. "I mean I can grow facial hair now for starters." He added. "And the Bieber cut didn't help either." He chuckled.
Santana ran her fingers through his hair. "I liked the haircut." She told him softly before she moved her hands to cup his face. "Lots to grip onto when you were between my legs." She added with a smirk before she glanced at her ring. "I still can't believe we're getting married."
Ryder "Well do you want me to grow the Bieber hair back?" He asked teasingly, even if he knew Santana loved his shorter hair too. He followed her eyes to her ring, smiling softly. "Me neither, I'm just so happy you said yes." He murmured. "We've come so far from those first makeouts on your couch... and now we're gonna spend the rest of our lives together. It's actually crazy."
Santana shook her head. "No, this look is more 23 year old Ryder and he's pretty great." She replied before smiling. "I know... It's crazy how far we're come."
Ryder "Thanks, 25 year old you is pretty great too." He murmured. "For real... I love you so much San, thank you for being you." He added, looking around at the photos scattered around them on the floor. "We've had some pretty great times and I can't wait to have a lifetime more with you."
Santana scrunched her face up. "God I'm so old." She laughed, glancing at the photos that Ryder had placed next to them. "I can't wait either. I'm so fucking excited to become a Lynn even if it's the whitest last name ever." She teased.
Ryder laughed. "You say that now but how about when we're both 50 odd? Then we'll be old." He teased. "And Josh will be... god he'll be 28." He murmured, slightly thrown by the idea of their baby being all grown up. "Shut up, I am white in case you hadn't noticed." He laughed.
Santana shook her head at the idea of Josh being 28. "He'll be completely grown up. Graduated from college and he'll probably live states away from us to try and escape his Latina mom." She laughed. "Oh I've noticed but you are half Cuban which means you aren't the whitest guy I could be getting married to."
Ryder laughed softly. "Probably, although 28... he may have kids himself. We might be grandparents." He murmured, the idea being pretty surreal to him. "That's very true." He chuckled. "And at least I don't have a last name like Smith or Jones or something. So it definitely could be worse."
Santana frowned at the idea of someone calling her Abuela. "Fuck that. He can be 30 with his shit together before he has a baby. We got lucky and things worked out but it might not be the same for him." She replied before adding. "Plus I'll be too young to be someone's grandmother."
Ryder laughed at the look on Santana's face, her clearly finding it just as weird as he did. "I mean it's his life, if it worked out for us then it could work out for him." He shrugged. "But this is all hypothetical and we gotta get him through school and college without scarring him for life first." He teased. "So we really shouldn't get ahead of ourselves too much."
Santana hummed in agreement. "I'll try." She laughed before smiling at the thought of their son. "He's so cute." She added randomly. "He's walking and his speech is improving every day. He's just perfect."
Ryder loved that the two of them were sat on the floor of their wardrobe, Santana still straddling his lap while they just had a casual conversation going. Everything just felt so natural and comfortable with her. "He really is." He agreed. "It's so exciting that we'll be able to have actual conversations with him soon."
Santana "I'm just happy he can finally say mom." She admitted. "I'll probably cry when he says I love you for the first time though. I want him to say it so badly."
Ryder "See now I'm just offended because you didn't cry when I said I loved you for the first time." He joked. "He'll say it soon enough, and you know he loves you already even if he can't say it yet." He added with a shrug.
Santana pressed a kiss to his lips before running the pads of her thumbs against his jawline. "I said it first if I remember correctly and I wasn't going to cry because you needed me to be strong." She replied softly, remembering what had prompted her first 'I love you'.
Ryder kissed her back, smiling against her lips. "You did say it first." He nodded. "Although I think I was already crying, or on the verge of it anyway." He chuckled. "And you were just awesome with me, I'll always be grateful for that."
Santana kissed him softly a few more times. "I just wanted you to know that I would love you no matter what. Even the parts that left you with scars and you did the same in return."
Ryder couldn't help but laugh to himself. "Sorry, I just can't believe we're having this conversation sat on the floor of our closet." He chuckled. "But I'm glad I could do the same for you, you're my everything Lopez."
Santana laughed in return before she moved herself off of Ryder's lap and began packing away her Ryder Box. "We're not a very traditional couple so it's fine." She replied with a laugh,
Ryder watched as she began to pack up her box, picking up his beer and taking a swig. "I wouldn't change what we have for anything... so if we're not traditional then that's fine by me. Traditional's probably boring anyway."
Santana placed the lid on the box before picking it up. Standing to her feet, she moved it to a higher shelf so Joshua wouldn't come in and destroy it should he manage to get into their wardrobe. "Traditional fucking sucks." She replied confidently before picking up her beer and draining the majority of it in one go. "You know we have the apartment to ourselves for the night and the majority of the cleaning is done. Maybe we could make a kickass dinner and watch a movie?"
Ryder followed Santana's lead, standing up off the floor and watching as she put the box back on the shelf. "Well dinner and a movie does sound better than cleaning." He laughed. "But yeah, sounds great to me." He smiled.
First Steps || Rytana
Tagging: Ryder Lynn, Santana Lopez and Josh Lynn When: February-ish? Where: The apartment Notes: Josh takes his first steps alone in front of both his parents.
Santana was sitting on the floor her legs crossed and her back leaning against the couch as she watched Joshua standing, gripping onto the coffee table for balance. Their son had been crawling for months and had started standing on his feet more confidently over the past three weeks. All the baby websites had indicated that this was a strong sign their son was about to walk. "Come on Little Man." She announced, smiling as Josh locked eyes with him mother and laughed. "Babe he's standing again... and rocking. Get out here." She called for Ryder, hoping today would be the day.
Ryder was getting himself a cup of coffee in the kitchen when he heard Santana calling for him. He tossed the spoon in the sink to deal with later before heading into the lounge. He smiled when he saw Josh standing, taking a seat on the armchair as he watched his son balancing on his own two feet. It was crazy that they were at this point already, it only felt like yesterday he was born. He noticed Josh looking round at him, and Ryder nodded his head towards Santana. "Go on... go see mommy. You can do it dude." He smiled, taking a sip of his coffee as Josh did in fact look back at Santana.
Santana clapped her hands in an effort to encourage Joshua towards her. "Come on Josh, come to mommy." She grinned, her eyes meeting Ryder's briefly as their son wobbled and turned to face Santana. Focusing her attention back on Josh, the Latina clapped her hands a few more times. "Get your phone." She whispered, wanting this moment recorded so they could show their family and friends.
Ryder put his coffee down on the coffee table, far away from where Josh was gripping it before sliding his phone out of his pocket. He already had a several failed videos on his phone from where they thought it was going to happen but never did, although they were still adorable videos regardless. He unlocked it, opening the camera app before hitting the record button and focusing it on where Josh was still stood.
Santana smiled at her son, trying to encourage him. "Vamos, puedes hacerlo." She told him, her eyes widening when Josh took a step towards Santana even though his hands were still gripping the table. "Let go baby, you can do this. Come to mommy." She encouraged, her smile widening as Josh listened and let go of his support.
Ryder smiled as he watched Josh let go of the table, but also as he saw the look on Santana's face. She just looked so happy and it was infectious as the smile easily spread to his own face. He kept quiet, not wanting to distract Josh since he figured that he'd fall if he tried to turn round and look at Ryder now. So he just kept the camera on Josh, waiting to see if he'd make it to Santana.
Santana didn't tear her eyes from Josh and as her son made his way towards his mom, she had to stop herself from leaning forward when he fell on to his bottom. "Come on Josh!" She encouraged, wanting her son to stand up and keep trying. Watching him get back on his feet, the Latina couldn't stop the proud smile that graced her lips as he continued to walk towards his mom. Wrapping her arms around Josh when he was within reaching distance, the brunette showered his face with kisses. "You did it!" She celebrated, tickling him slightly as their son's giggles filled the room.
Ryder smiled as he watched the interaction in front of him, Josh falling like he always did when he tried to walk on his own. But instead this time, he managed to get himself back up before walking the rest of the way to Santana. "Nice one Josh!" He grinned, loving the sound of Josh's laugh. He moved himself off the chair, sliding onto the floor with his back up against the chair. "Now can he make it to daddy?" He asked, keeping his camera recording just in case.
Santana pressed one last kiss to Josh's forehead before turning him around and steadying him. "Go to daddy." She whispered, smiling as her son began making his way towards Ryder.
Ryder watched Santana steady Josh before he began to wobble towards him. "Come on dude." He grinned, keeping his camera on Josh with one hand as the other reached out towards Josh.
Santana couldn't stop herself from smiling as she watch Josh make his way towards his father. "He's walking." She grinned, her eyes meeting Ryder's briefly. "About time Little Man." She added.
Ryder "He's walking...." He repeated after Santana, looking up at her with a grin on his face. "He's growing up so fast." He smiled, putting his phone down so he could wrap both his arms around Josh when he made it to his dad. "Aren't you Josh?" He chuckled, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
Santana moved from her spot in order to be closer to her boys. Running her fingers through Joshua's hair, the brunette pressed a kiss to his temple before offering Ryder a smile. "He's growing up so quick."
Ryder "He really is." He nodded, standing Josh on his feet again between him and Santana. "He'll be going off to school before we know it."
Santana scrunched up her face. "He's going to be my baby forever." She replied, pressing another kiss to Josh's temple as their son smiled at his parents.
Ryder "Yeah, tell me about it." He chuckled, smiling back at Josh. "I don't think he'll appreciate us calling him our baby forever though."
Santana shrugged. "I don't care." She replied before biting down on her bottom lip. "At least he has two parents who still want him to be their baby."
Ryder smiled, humming in agreement with Santana. "That he does... and he always will have that. That's never gonna change."
Wedding Planning || Rytana
Tagging: Ryder Lynn and Santana Lopez When: March sometime? Where: The apartment Notes: The couple discuss their upcoming wedding and make a few important decisions.
Ryder was relaxing in bed after a long day of running around after Josh and trying to fit in some time to sit down and write too. It was exhausting and the fact that he and Santana were getting married in about five months only added to the list of stuff they had to do. Deciding he wasn't tired enough to sleep just yet, he got up and found his laptop before returning to the bed. He opened it up, looking up wedding planning and exactly how much they had to do in such a short amount of time. It was a lot, even with a wedding planner. Before he knew it, he found himself looking at wedding venue websites and smiling as he imagined him marrying Santana in each of them.
Santana stepped out of the bathroom having just showered and brushed her teeth for bed. Making her way into the bedroom she and Ryder shared, the brunette smiled at her husband-to-be and joined him in their bed. "What are you looking at?" She asked softly, moving closer to Ryder and smiled when she saw what was on the computer screen.
Ryder turned his laptop so that the both of them could see it, showing her what was on the screen. "Figured I'd get a headstart on looking at this stuff but it's just making me more excited right now." He smiled, clicking through to pictures of another venue. "I mean we don't even have a date yet but it doesn't hurt to look, right?"
Santana loved how excited Ryder was to marry her. "I've been looking a little too... During my down time, my phone seems to have quite a few tabs open." She admitted quietly. "Well we're both awake and you have a few websites up... Maybe we could plan a little bit now?"
Ryder smiled, turning his head to press a kiss against her cheek at her admission. "Sounds like a good idea to me." He nodded, flicking his eyes back to the screen in front of him. "So where do you want to start?"
Santana bit down on her bottom lip. "Probably a date... So we can go through and narrow down a place that we want and that's available. We can't really do any planning until we know when to plan for."
Ryder "Okay a date sounds good." He nodded, opening up the calendar app on his laptop. "So... when were you thinking? And when are you getting back from tour?"
Santana ran her fingers through her hair. "I leave early June and I come back late August... So we'll have to get married after that. Maybe September or October?"
Ryder nodded, flicking through the calendar until he was on September. "Well either of those works for me. But I know you wanted a summer wedding and if we do early September then it'll be the end of summer but still summer. Do you think that's enough time to get everything sorted?"
Santana smiled softly and kissed him gently. "I can't believe you remembered that." She admitted before shaking her head. "I should have known." Santana added before smiling. "That sounds really great... We can make it work. We'll hire a wedding planner and just make sure we make the time to plan."
Ryder "What can I say? I remember the important things." He joked. "Sounds good to me." He smiled, nodding at her suggestion. "Okay next is probably day of the week... do you want to get married during the week or at a weekend? Then do we go Saturday or Sunday?"
Santana raised an eyebrow. "We aren't getting married on a weekday... Saturday has to be the day. So people can be hungover on Sunday and not have work." She laughed.
Ryder "Okay... no weekday." He laughed as he saw the look on Santana's face and her raised eyebrow. "Saturday works for me. How about the first Saturday in September? That makes it... the 3rd?" He suggested, looking at the calendar open in front of him.
Santana thought over the date and nodded her head. "The 3rd sounds like our day." She replied softly, pressing a kiss to his jawline. "We have a date." She whispered, an excited smile gracing her lips. "We should work out where we'll be getting married next."
Ryder smiled as he felt her lips against his skin, happily clicking on the 3rd September in his calendar. "We have a date." He repeated excitedly, typing in 'Get married, best day ever!!!' before saving it. "That makes sense. Where were you thinking for place? Like do you wanna do it here in New York, or we could go back to Lima or even go somewhere entirely new like a beach in Hawaii?"
Santana bit down on her bottom lip. "I think we should keep it either here or in Lima so our loved ones won't have to pay a lot of money to get to the venue." She replied after thinking it through. "We have a lot of memories here but we also have a lot in Lima so this may be harder than picking the actual date." She added.
Ryder "That sounds good to me." He nodded, happy to have it somewhere that meant something to them anyway. "You have a point there." He chuckled, thinking it over. "I mean New York is really where we met and started off obviously but then we both came from McKinley and McKinley is why we knew each other in the first place. Plus you came to visit me as much as I visited you before the break up so it really could be either... I guess we could always look at possible venues for both and then see if any grab our attention?”
Santana smiled softly. "Do you remember when you realized you loved me?" She asked quietly. "I mean... I know I said it when we were in New York after you told me everything but do you remember when you fell in love with me?" She asked before adding. "Because I do. Maybe that's the place we should get married?"
Ryder thought over her question. It was hard to say where he fell in love with her when they spent their relationship zig-zagging between Lima and New York but the moment where he realised he was in love with her was probably easier to pinpoint. "December, junior year." He replied after a moment. "You came back to Lima to visit me and I don't think I stopped smiling the whole time, and it wasn't just because Christmas was coming up." He added jokingly.
Santana smiled softly at the memory and pressed a quick kiss to his lips. "I realized I loved you in Lima too." She admitted softly. "I had managed to get three days off work and when I told you, you convinced me to fly to Lima. Even though I had spent my entire life trying to escape that place and had built a support network in New York, the second I saw you at the airport I felt like I was home. Not because of anything else Lima has to offer but because I felt like I was home whenever I was with you. I realized that has to be love, right?"
Ryder couldn't help the smile on his face, if only 16 year old Ryder could hear the words Santana was saying now. "Right..." He nodded before leaning in to kiss her again, deepening the kiss a little this time. "You felt like home to me too, and still do now." He smiled. "I guess we're getting married in Lima then."
Santana gently cupped Ryder's face with her left hand, the band of her engagement ring pressing against his cheek. "The feeling never went away. It's only gotten stronger since we had Josh." She added softly, smiling at his statement. "I guess we are. Now if only planning a wedding would be this easy, we'd be able to get things done tonight." She laughed.
Ryder "For real, I feel that." He nodded, humming in agreement. "We're a family and I love that." He smiled. "Well we're on a role, so is there anything else we can decide tonight?" He asked. "I'm gonna throw a big one out there... first dance song?" It was the first thing that came to mind when he tried to think of more wedding things they could decide on. "Or do we need to come back to that one?"
Santana laughed softly at his question. "I almost want to suggest the song you wrote that we'll be singing but who dances to their own song at their wedding?" She laughed. "I haven't thought about it much... Have you?"
Ryder laughed at the idea of dancing to his own song at their wedding. "Well most people aren't that talented to have the option but no, we're not dancing to that song." He chuckled. "I've thought about it a little... or really I just heard a song the other day and thought it'd be an awesome wedding song. Whether it's a first dance song or a second or third dance song is debatable."
Santana "What is it?" She asked, generally curious about the song that had prompted Ryder to think it could be good enough for their first dance. "You have really great music taste so I'll probably love it."
Ryder "Well I was thinking about using that watch me whip, watch me nae nae song... except we could totally change the words to 'me' to 'us' to make it more wedding-y." He replied, just about managing to keep a straight face before laughing himself at the mental image of him and Santana doing that dance in front of all their friends and family in their wedding dress and tux. "But for real, it's called Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran."
Santana shook her head and gently pushed at his chest. "So wrong." She laughed, before smiling at the mention of the actual song. "I've heard that song and it's amazing. I wouldn't mind my first dance as a Lynn to be that song."
Ryder laughed as she pushed at his chest, giving her a playful smile. "Oh really? That's awesome. I mean we can always just keep brainstorming as we go along but for now, we really are on a roll." He grinned.
Santana hummed in agreement. "We are but we're forgetting the most important thing... What lingerie I should wear underneath my wedding dress. I heard that's the most important part."
Ryder smirked at her question, shrugging his shoulders. "I don't know... I mean, you're smokin' hot in every piece of lingerie I've ever seen you in so really you could wear anything you wanted."
Santana smirked. "I was thinking about going with a lacy, white set. Virginal and pure and bridal, even if I'm only one of those things." She laughed.
Ryder laughed, letting his eyes run over her clothed body as he imagined her in nothing but lacy white underwear. "Well you can at least act it, right? No one is gonna call you out for being a fraud." He joked.
Santana raised an eyebrow. "Who is everyone? The only person who will see it will be you." She replied. "And I doubt you'll call me out for being a fraud since I have the ability to drive you insane with all the things that make me corrupt."
Ryder "Very true." He laughed. "I really wouldn't anyway... I'd be too distracted by how sexy you were looking to think about stuff like that."
Santana hummed. "That's very true. Kind of how I feel whenever you wear a shirt without sleeves." She laughed, running her fingers through her hair.
Ryder chuckled, knowing how much Santana loved his arms. "Well maybe I need to invest in some more vest tops then, with summer coming up and all." He teased, flexing one of his arms.
Santana glanced at the way Ryder was flexing one of his arms before shaking her head. "Don't be mean." She told him softly. "Unless you're planning on fucking me against the wall tonight, don't do that." She added with a playful groan.
Ryder laughed, dropping his arm back down to his side. "I can do that... I'll fuck you anyway you want me to." He shrugged, leaning in to press a kiss to her lips. "That goes for our wedding night too."
Santana kissed Ryder back and smiled against his lips. "I love that we can say that... Wedding night." She admitted quietly. "Thank you for asking me to marry you." She added, laughing softly. "I'm so fucking excited."
Ryder "I know right... our wedding night... the night of our wedding." He repeated, chuckling softly. "They all sound so great. You're thanking me?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at her. "In that case, thank you for saying yes. Oh I am too, it's gonna be awesome."
Santana moved the laptop from his lap and closed the lid. Placing it on her bedside table, the brunette straddled Ryder's lap before wrapping her arms around his neck. "Before you, I never even wanted to get married." She admitted. "My parents had such a shitty marriage and I didn't think there was any other kind... You changed that."
Ryder watched as she took the laptop from him and moved it to the side. He smiled as she straddled his lap, resting his hands against her thighs. "Well I'm glad you came around to it, although I would have also happily spent the rest of my life with you without marrying you." He shrugged. "I never thought I'd find anyone as good for me as you, that anyone would even want to spend their life with me. But I'm glad you do."
Santana smiled softly. "I know." She replied honestly. "We could have just been boyfriend and girlfriend for the rest of our lives and that would have been enough." She told him softly. "You are delusional if you don't think you're a fucking catch. You are the best person I know."
Ryder "For real." He agreed. "Well when I met you, I was just a guy who was failing his classes, couldn't let a girl touch him and the only thing going for him was being semi-good at football and telling lame jokes." He shrugged. "So no, I didn't think I'd ever end up with someone like you."
Santana cupped Ryder's face and ran the pads of her thumbs against his jawline. "Your jokes aren't lame." She replied softly, smiling a small smile. "I knew you were someone special because I waited to have sex with you... Even before I found out about your issues. I just... making out was enough because I was spending time with you."
Ryder "Yes they are and I'm fine with it." He chuckled, smiling softly as he thought about what she was telling him. "I didn't tell you about those because I was terrified you were gonna leave me but I'd have totally told you sooner if I'd known that we'd end up here. But yes, all those make out sessions were awesome... even if it was pretty hard to not let myself get... hard or too carried away." He joked.
Santana pressed a soft kiss to his lips. "I know the feeling. I used to get really turned on, it was hard to not grind up on you while we were making out." She admitted with a laugh. "Remember when joined me in the shower for the first time?" She asked softly. "I was proud of you. Honoured that you had chosen me to do all these firsts with."
Ryder smiled against her lips when she kissed him. "I mean 8 months of just making out and nothing else... I don't think I could do that again." He laughed. "I do remember that." He nodded, smiling at the memory. "Although the first time we actually had sex in the shower may have been better." He couldn't help but add. "Well... thanks. There was no-one I would have rather had those firsts with. So thanks for being patient too, and for wanting to do all those firsts with a newbie like me."
Santana groaned at the memory. "Never doing that again. Eight months without you inside me is far too long." She replied crudely before smirking. "It was amazing. I remember you were so deep since I hitched my leg up... No wonder I became addicted to it." She laughed, smiling softly. "Being your first was sexy. It meant something and knowing I was the first person to make you fall apart... God, it was so hot."
Ryder hummed in agreement. "We can barely go eight days now." He teased, a smirk playing on his lips. "It really was, and it only got better with practice." He chuckled, having been worrying about slipping the first few times before he got the hang of it. "I'm glad you thought so, and apart from being my first kiss, I think you were my first everything."
Santana rolled her hips against his, her own smirk matching the one Ryder had on his face. "Even eight days is too long." She replied before smiling. "As long as I'm your last kiss, I really don't give a fuck."
Ryder "I'm surprised we even last eight hours to be honest." He joked, running his hands along her thighs as he started to roll her hips. "Well who even wants to be a first kiss anyway? First kisses are terrible since you don't know what you're doing." He laughed. "And you'll be my last kiss, for sure."
Santana arched slightly into his body before chuckling. "I know... I mean we stopped for a while when Joshua was born because we were so fucking tired but now that he sleeps through the night and we're used to 6am starts, I say our sex life is pretty awesome for a couple with a kid."
Ryder "I don't think anyone would blame us for that, I felt like a zombie most of the time." He laughed. "I'd say so too... although kid or no kid, you're just too hot to keep my hands off so it was only ever gonna end up like this." He teased.
Santana "God no. Lack of sleep makes even eating difficult let alone having sex." She replied before smirking. "Well you aren't too bad yourself baby. Though I like the fact that you can't seem to keep your hands off of me."
Ryder laughed, nodding in agreement. "For real, and when else would we turn down food and sex?" He joked. "Thanks, we're just such a good lookin' couple clearly." He murmured, leaning in to press a kiss to her lips.
Santana "Clearly." She repeated softly before kissing him back, her arms moving to wrap around his neck in an effort to bring Ryder closer.
Ryder wrapped his arms around her waist as he moved in closer to her as she kissed him back. "I love you." He murmured. "I'm so excited for September 3rd."
Santana: "I love you too." She whispered back. "I can't wait either... I can't wait to be your wife." She told him quietly, her eyes falling closed as she kissed him softly.
Christmas suits you, babe.
