“A bit.” she said, rolling her eyes. “Well, I don’t know, maybe your brother is the mad scientist that will blow us up or stutters even more?”
“He’s angry and sullen b-but not mad. I guess.”
“Yeah but I’ll do everything today.” He decided not to speak on how hostile he was being, pushing the thoughts out of their practically shared mind. He did, however, roll his eyes and screw the cap back onto the bottle of whiskey and place his glass into the sink before walking over to his twin, taking his arm. “..Fine. Fine, fine, fine. Ok. But you don’t get to complain when I’m rude to people. They deserve it.”
“Of course you will.” He sighs in resignation but smiles at the small victory that is beating down his brother’s will. Leaning closer, he nudges him gently. “I will complain and you’ll be rude nonetheless.”
C-c-c-c-cool, sh-should I w-worry?
“Y-you’re mocking me.” He sighs in defeat, shaking his head away. “N-not worry, why would you worry?”
“What do you mean, decency? I don’t care about that. I don’t care about anything here.” He picked up the glass and placed it to his lips with a sigh before tipping his head back and downing the liquid. “Don’t ‘for Jehova’s sake’ me.”
He sighs tiredly and groans inwardly. “You got here late, you make a mess and leave it to me, you’re hostile to everyone and drink in the morning? Jay come onnnn.” He stands up to reach out for his brother’s arm. “Stop drinking early in the morning, let’s go for a walk.”
Oh my, you have a copy?
A-an identical twin? Y-yes. I-I mean it’s been years since I-I last saw his face but I s-suppose we look the same.
“I know it’s seven in the morning. I have no idea why on Earth you’d think this was alcohol. It’s just a very nicely aged syrup with several flavourings.”
“Jay, I can smell the alcohol from here, have some decency, it’s seven and we just got here for Jehova’s sake.”
Holly looked at him for a moment before realising, and she reached out and took his hand, shaking it gently. “Lovely to meet you too. Jules, right?” she asked, having heard someone else saying his name earlier.
He leans in closer, taking in her presence and scent as they shook hands. “Y-yes, Jules.” He offers a smile and leans back. “B-been here for long?”
“I’m uh-err-what? That’s a pretty strange name you’ve got there, I’m Justin.”
“JULES! M-my name’s Jules-- ‘m sorry.”
“Oh yeah, there are tons of people here just like you and me. I’m sure you’ll meet them once you settle in. No problem. Yeah it’s not too bad, you’ll be able to explore it very soon. You too Jules, so do you know who your parent is?”
“...yeah, u-uhm, right. Athena, she’s talked to me? A-apparently that’s why I’m at law school. Justice is blind an’ all that.”
It’s a pleasure. And it’s not an inconvenience at all. If you’re an Athena kid, then yeah, that’d make you my brother. Which just means you’re part of the coolest group of kids here, in my obviously professional opinion.
T-this is a bit awkward, huh. Okay. Then that’d be the first time ‘m one of the cool kids, hah.
“If I’m being honest I don’t care which you are. That doesn’t change the fact that I think you’re attractive.”
“I’m...uh...err....what?”
Alright. Well, you can stick with me until we find him. And believe me, you’re fine. I’ve dealt with worse.
The name’s Annabeth Chase, by the way. Daughter of Athena, camp counselor, and junior at Cornell. Not necessarily in that order.
O...kay? Uhm. Right. Annabeth. ‘m Jules, n-nice to meet you, s-sorry for the inconvenience.
Athena. Right. Uhm. D-does that makes us...siblings?
“That’s awesome. I’ve never known that many twins in my life. Don’t worry about it. Well, welcome I guess. Hopefully you’ll feel right at home. I’m Percy by the way.”
“A-are there others here? Thank you, I s-suppose, it’s odd, I wish I could see it. It sounds like a beautiful place. N-nice to meet you Percy, ‘m Jules.”
“You look pretty familiar, so that must be it then. Did you just get here?”
“We’re identical, yes. S-sorry. Yes, we just had our finals and uh, got here?”
“Do you have a twin or something?”
“I...actually do, yeah. Uhm. We look alike, I s’ppose.”
“Actually, it is you I’m looking for. I’m one of the medics at camp, Chiron’s asked me to make sure you settle in nicely.”
“Chiron. The horse-man, right? T-that’s him. Uhm. I-I’m alright, yeah, don’t worry, being blind isn’t new to me, if I can do that in New York I can do it here.”
Which one’s your brother? Sorry, it’s been awhile.
Jake...he uh, looks like me, I suppose? I mean uh, I haven’t seen his face in six years but we’re identical twins...uh I’m rambling. Sorry.
