Julian for the merm au is here!! I really wanted to give him dramatic, pretty scales and fins designs, tho I stole all the colors from his canon sprite — the inside of his jacket? Hella bright. Anyways he likes to chat up visitors and flirt and they had to jokingly put up a sign, in Cassius’ pretty calligraphy, “Do Not Give Coffee To The Dramatic Merman,” because even in this AU he’s a coffee addict xD

Some of my friends asked me how I did my watercolor Arcana fanart, so here's the step by step tutorial.

Step 1: Sketch some basic shapes. I normally brainstorm the poses on a separate draft before doing the real one.

Step 2: Make the sketch clean.

Step 3: color the base, from this I will know where to apply which color I wanted, and also I can adjust the lighting. I prefer using wet on wet technique.

Step 4: Go for details like shadows and pattern, I think the basic of watercolor is "applying layers", I normally paint the light spots first and then add layers for darker ones.

Step 4: finish all the details and lines.

I use Maruman sketchbook and Van Gogh watercolor set. Actually I'm not really confident with my skill, I think the color is still too thick, I want it to be more soft and smooth and still trying to improve.

Eventhough this is not perfect but I hope it will help 😉
