“It’s beautiful anyways. We just help people who can’t already see it look at it from a different angle, is all. Oh come on, do you not agree with me? It’s like the most attractive thing someone can put on their body. Crushed velvet is pretty damn gorgeous too though, I can’t deny that. Uhm-- Jules? We can just got with Jules.”

“New York is a little too busy for my liking but for a lot of people it’s the perfect fit. Some of the trends are complete shit, if I’m honest, yet some people can pull them off. I don’t understand. Favorite trends of 2016. Go. Ah, another Julian. I’ve only met one I’ve liked over the years so far. I’m Hadley Rose.”

“I like it. Busy is actually interesting when you stand back and are on the outside of it. Put a lens between you and everyone else and it’s actually magical. My all time favorite thing in fashion is lace. A little bit can make almost anything better. Especially leather. You start mixing leather and lace and there’s a 99% chance I’m gonna wanna shag you. Ah, well if it makes any difference I usually go by Juli anyways. Or Jules sometimes.”

it had been an early night for bethany — she had nearly passed out on top of one of her text books when it was barely nine, and she had made the decision to get a proper night of that day, just to catch up with the hours she had missed before. she woke up, however, when she heard someone else’s voice coming from next to her, making her turn around. “ holy — ” she muttered, as her eyes widened. “ what the fuck are you doing here ? ”

The reaction he got wasn’t what he’d been hoping for and yet he still wasn’t surprised by it. “I was hoping you would be able to help with that but uhm-- clearly not.” Julian rubbed his eyes, his senses slowly coming back. “Fuck. Sorry. You’re probably not used to waking up to a strange british man sleeping on your floor, are you? I’m also not quite sure where I am or, frankly, how I got here. I was at a club last night and now... and now I’m here. That’s all I’ve got.”

“Yeah, I got a few pretty good shots while I was out and about so it was worth it.”

A small, almost agonized groan slipped from Julian’s lips as he woke. His muscles hurt, his head hurt, and his throat was beyond dry. There was no memory in his head of the night before past the one of the molly disintegrating on his tongue. Opening his eyes the boy sat up slowly, surveying his surroundings. Apparently he hadn’t made it back to his and instead was on the floor of a room he didn’t recognize. “--What...?” he trailed off, groaning again “Fucking hell. Uhm-- excuse me?” he asked, spotting someone on the bed he didn’t recognize but was hoping could help him piece something together.

“I wish I could just do that. I usually try to make them less mad, so I give them the reaction they want. Why go out of my way to make people hate me, you know? At least if I take it, there’s still a chance they won’t completely hate me.”

“I was always told to remember that not everyone is gonna like you so you shouldn’t waste your time trying to convince the ones who don’t.”

“So being away from home is all you’ve ever wanted or just being in New York makes it so great? Agreed. Fashion is so fucking strange and it’s always changing, and honestly the shit people wear. It’s incredible. Ah, I see. Why most of us are here, really. You got a name?”

“New York city in general. Exactly! it’s changing and things fade off and then years later all of the sudden it becomes popular again. And don’t get me started on the people that are ahead of the curve and other people are so critical of it and then bam a few months later the trends caught on. Of course I’ve got a name. Everyone’s got a name. Mine’s Julian.”

“Literally any time. I don’t have concrete plans very often.”

“I’m not high enough to listen to it, if I’m being honest. I’m almost intrigued enough to do so.”

‘Let’s make an appointment to then. We’ll both get very high and talk only philosophical.”

“If you kept going, yeah.”

“Thankfully I stopped. I’m not nearly high enough to start getting philosophical. Catch me after 9 though and I’ll lay some serious shit down on you.”

“You’re in New York, I’m sure there’s plenty of amazing people you can photograph on the streets. Found one or two I liked my first day here. Oh you’re into fashion? You’ve done any runways?”

“It’s been amazing. Being in New York alone is more than I ever could have imagined. I’m very into fashion. It’s honestly one of the most fascinating things ever. Uhm-- nothing big. I’ve covered a few local things for people in London to pad my portfolio but nothing anyone would really know. I’m hoping after I get done with Wake I can get into some bigger stuff. Work my way up.”

“I’ve been with my fair share, yeah. Don’t see why that’s real important though.”

“ i have to say i’m more of a dogs person but i can put up with cats. ” she smiled. “ my father once got me a cat called cat like holly golightly from breakfast at tiffanys but we had to give her to my grandparents because we were away too much. ”

“She’s not any trouble. Swear. She mostly just sleeps and wants to cuddle up next to you. She looked like a little gremlin when I found her rummaging through my trash-- hence the name Mogwai. Dogs are nice and all but-- a little too high maintenance for me, I think.”

“ well it’s not uncommon, id o seem to have the effect on people. ” she spoke casually before letting out another smile as she heard her two favorite words, high fashion. “ no shit ! it’s like the roommate gods have shone down on us. ” he had already peaked the brunettes interest in a mere matter of minutes. “ can i call you jules ? ”

I don’t have a doubt in my mind that’s true,” Julian mused. “Of course you can call me Jules. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Oh-- another quick question. Do you like.. cats? Because I kind of have one with me. She’s technically an ESA so she’s allowed basically everywhere. Her names Mogwai.”
