eumheather:
“Cute, like a puppy. You’re right, he’s probably a little pathetic, don’t want to take on that chance,” she said, before swiping left. Huffing, she placed the phone screen down and leaned into her arm. “For either one, it’s not quality by any means. Just anything to pass the time. And get out of my aunt’s house some nights. That helps.” Straightening (hah!) up again, she continued. “You’re dating that hot senator, aren’t you? You have time for that? My career is only just starting and this thing–” she picks up her phone and waves it. “It’s the only thing that makes getting company quick enough.”
Juliette nodded in understanding while she spoke. It was one of the good things that came from having her own apartment when she was single. She didn’t need to get out of someone else’s house, and work kept the time pretty well occupied. “I am,” Juliette agreed. She was dating the hot senator. “I think I only have time because he’s just as busy as I am. There isn’t a lot of time for actual dates. Our dates are ordering takeout while both of us do work, occasionally commenting on it or helping the other person out. Well that and the sex, but we live together so it’s not as difficult to have a little time for just us.” Despite how concerned she had been about moving in together early on, it really helped give them more time together when they otherwise might have been too busy. “If it makes you feel any better you’re doing the right thing with the quick company. I got married when I was around your age and I was divorced within three years. Starting a career in D.C. and nurturing a relationship does not go hand in hand until you’re settled in your career.”
