Zuko would sometimes randomly buy things for Katara, thinking that ‘she would definitely love this’, ‘this would suite her’, ‘she could use this in her ______’ and every time that he gives it her, her heart never fails to beat for him. Not being materialistic, more of he’s always thinking of her.
Zuko is actually a very artsy person because of Ursa’s influence. However, since she left, he focused more on his bending, military strategy, weaponry and such so that his father could appreciate his existence. But after marrying Katara, it made him want to write letters and poems, and sing love songs for her, and every time he does, she dies from too much love.
Another perk of having Zuko as a husband, is that he’s really give at giving massages. Together with some firebending techniques, Zuko’s massage is the best thing that can calm a pregnant Katara.
Despite having such a crazy family prior to their marriage, Zuko really exerted effort so that their children can grow in a healthy loving family. He renovated their children’s room in such a way that they share a common room where they have bond together - story nights, music afternoons, morning meditations, etc.
During the nights when Katara kicks him out of their room, he would often sleep in the children’s common room. He falls asleep immediately, not noticing that their children join him on one side, and when Katara calms down she also joins them, taking Zuko’s other side. Thus Zuko being the small spoon.
Katara knew that Zuko always looked forward every time Suki visits, because Suki would always drag Katara to go lingerie shopping.
When Zuko names their children, it must always undergo Katara’s approval. Just to make sure that he doesn’t name their child ‘honor’.
Time to time Katara lets Zuko drink with his drinking buddies - some of the Palace Guards, some soldiers from his crew, and some noble men who knew how to have fun.
Later on, fire nation citizen started to appreciate how the love of their Fire Lady and Fire Lord, helped them become the person/leader they are now. On their wedding anniversary, fire nation citizens would throw festivals and parties. Soon it becomes a national holiday and celebrate like it was the Fire Nation’s Valentines Day.
Centuries later, their love story would be like those of Oma&Shu, Tui&La - Katara & Zuko
