sun in the houses. planets in the houses series.
➯ i express myself through…
first house: my capabilities. i am a natural leader, i have a lot to say and i demand people to hear me. i am able to get things done and work harder than anyone else, and i want others to see me through such a lens. i often care too much what others think, however, my ego is most satisfied when i am praised by others for the work i do, the qualities i have, and for my success. i often express myself through my outward appearance (clothes, makeup, etc) and social media may be one of the most important self-expression platforms for me.
second house: my clothes, my belongings, my appearance. the way i physically come off to people is how i like to express myself. i place importance on expression through underrated art forms such as makeup, fashion, etc. i feel the worst when i am forced to dress or act in a certain way; i want to unabashedly be myself and desire praise for the way i present myself and hold myself together. i also like to express myself through the things i own, through my home and my comfort spaces.
third house: words. communication is essential to me. i am unfulfilled when i am not speaking what is on my mind, my opinions, my thoughts, my ideas. i excel in any sort of communicative platform: being an author, blogger, vlogger, etc., will benefit my ego and suit my personality the greatest. my mercury sign is likely a placement i heavily connect to, or want to show more.
fourth house: my home and comfort zones. i feel that my home, or wherever i am most comfortable (*your “home” aka comfort zone could even be your workplace or school desk), should be beautiful and well-presented. i express myself through the way i design and build up my safe spaces. i feel discomfort when i do not have a safe, quiet space to isolate into to be my true, unfiltered self. my self-expression is often more private, but this is what i prefer.
fifth house: my hobbies. i am passionate about my interests, hobbies; they tend to be very central in my life and i feel drained when i’m not pursuing my creative interests. i likely place heavy importance on art and/or music, and express myself through such means. i feel empty when i am unable to commit time to my genuine interests and fear mundane routine of only work and no play.
sixth house: my words and my work. at heart i am a humanitarian, i am always helping others and this is how i express myself; through my love and commitment to building up others. communication is also of huge importance to me, i am a blunt person at heart and want to be able to speak my mind and opinions without filter or feeling guilty. when i cannot express myself and my opinions, or when i am criticized for the way i speak, write or my work; my ego takes the biggest hit.
seventh house: art, beauty, and love. i am heavily into art, likely creating but also appreciating. physical art forms: such as painting, and forms of art such as poetry, are likely central to my self-expression and feelings of fulfillment. i find it important to express myself via loving and caring for others; i feel unfulfilled when i cannot share my heart with others and soak in the beauty the world of art and poetry have to offer. romance is a huge expressive outlet for me.
eighth house: my mind (intuition & knowledge). my mind is the most important thing to me, i am most proud of the things i know, the things i’ve learned, and the frequently intense intuition i have. i generally do not like to express myself and my personality publicly, but when i show off parts of myself, i am showing off the things i know and the power i hold. i want people to know i am not to be messed with, and that i know far more about them than they’ll ever know about themselves. my ego is the most satisfied when i am praised for my intensity, knowledge and abilities to dig deeper and sense out a room. i also frequently express myself through my work, always giving one-hundred and ten percent to everything i commit to.
ninth house: philosophy, growth, words. poetry, philosophy and photography are likely of huge importance to me. i feel the need to express myself through visual representation of myself and my life; and via well-crafted paragraphs containing my thoughts, ideas and opinions. growing as a person on my own terms and sharing that journey is of huge importance to me; travel is a form of self-expression to me and i feel unfulfilled when i remain stagnant in one place (mentally or physically) for a long period of time. to me, change & growth is self-expression as much as sharing an opinion is.
tenth house: my work and achievements. my goals, dreams and ambitions are the most important things to me. i set high standards for myself and for my success, which are nearly impossible to achieve. but the closer i get, the more fulfilled i feel. i am happiest when i am praised for my ambition, my skills, the hard work i consistently put in. i feel empty when i cannot meet my own goals and expectations, i must surpass the bar i have placed and prove to others i can do anything in order to feel satisfied.
eleventh house: music and art. music is of vital importance to me, i feel a need to learn instruments, to write music, to produce, to create art in many forms (drawing & music especially) and share these things with others. even if i am not necessarily musically or artistically inclined, i feel an extremely strong connection with music and art; i probably always make endless playlists to share with others, and am praised for my taste in music and art; this makes me feel the most fulfilled.
twelfth house: creative outlets. my mind is a whirlwind of intense energies, i am frequently scattered but i feel grounded when i am involved in a creative outlet. i feel most satisfied when i am able to express myself and share my feelings through any sort of creative outlet. this can range from graphic design to photography to creating music to painting and so forth; i must have a creative platform or i will not feel happiness. i do not care that my work reaches a large audience, i am happy with doing these things for myself.

“His remotness is uncommonly illuminating for the nature of Apollo. If we compare him with Athena, the great difference between them becomes clear instantaneously. Just as she is the ever-near, so he is the withdrawn. He accompanies no hero as faithful friend, as ever-ready helper and counsellor. He is not, as Athena is, a spirit of immediacy, of clever and energetic mastery over the moment. His chosen ones are not the men of action”
— The Homeric Gods: The spiritual signifcance of Greek religion by Walter F. Otto.
first of all, i love your whole page! it has so much information 😊 but i was wondering if you knew when apollo and artemis were born?
Thank you ^_^
I’ve read that the 6th day of the month is sacred to Artemis, due to her being born on that day, and Apollon a day later on the 7th. However, I can’t find any ancient sources backing up this claim. The only source I can find cited is Parke’s Festivals of the Athenians (1997), which I don’t have on hand. I don’t disbelieve it per se - it certainly fits with what I know of Ancient Greek calendars and sacred days - but I wouldn’t go around toting it as established fact until I have an ancient source to prove it.
That said, UPG-wise, I do strongly associate the number 6 with Artemis.
The Signs and Magic:
THIS TOOK MUCH LONGER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BUT HERE IS MY COMPILED NOTES ON HOW ASTROLOGICAL SIGN CAN AFFECT INBORN MAGICAL ABILITY BE SURE TO NOTE THAT THIS IS BY NO MEANS THE ONLY DECIDER OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO MAGIC AND THE INFLUENCES OF CULTURE UPBRINGING AND GOOD OL STUDY SHOULD NOT BE DISCOUNTED Aries: People born under Aries have a natural affinity for evocation, the manipulation of natural forces like heat and light. Aries is the sign of firecallers and weather mages. While Aries have an advantage in terms of raw energy, this often comes at the cost of control.
Taurus: Taurus is a tenacious sign. Those born under Taurus have a natural resistance to the arcane. This can be a bit of a double edged sword, as it can make it more difficult to work with the more delicate forms of magic. On the other hand, this thick arcane skin can be useful for handling more dangerous, high-energy spellwork.
Gemini: If you understand how a battery works, those born under Gemini’s dualistic nature have a propensity for the quick absorption/discharge of energy. This manifests as an aptitude for counterspells and redirection. It should also be noted that the more energy one tries to channel, the higher the chance that one may overheat.
Cancer: Cancer is an attentive sign, those born under it often have a talent for the more precise forms of magic like Enchantment or Psychomancy. Cancers tend to be scalpels, not hammers. The largest obstacle a cancer will likely face is a low overall stamina when it comes to magic.
Leo: Leos burn bright. Their relationship to energy is inefficient, often resulting in unwanted side effects. The most common side effect manifests as a mild purifying effect. With practice, this can give the leo an advantage when attempting to rid themselves of unpleasant effects.
Virgo: Virgos are liminal. Their bindings to this plane of reality are a little fuzzier. This makes them adept at breaking those boundaries. Visions of the other side are not uncommon in Virgo children. Know that doors work both ways.
Libra: Libras tend to be a sort of jack-of-all-trades. With no particular astrological affinity for any sort of energy, Virgos tend to be the explorers and experimenters of the arcane arts. All energy seeks to expand. Libra’s have the most naturally harmonious relationship to magic.
Scorpio: Many Scorpio’s can go their entire life not realizing their proclivity for magic. Alchemy is an art that relies on the sort of gut instinct and intuition that actively resists careful thought. More often than not, their friends will realize alchemichal skill before they do. They just make the tea better. Nobody is really sure why.
Ophiuchus: Those born under the serpent bearer have the least harmonious relationship to magic. While this can make the initial learning significantly more difficult, it can lead to significant advantages in the underappreciated arts of unraveling, like hexes, counterspells, obfuscations of magic.
Sagittarius: Equal parts precise and explosive, those born under the archer generally have a great deal of power and control over their abilities. The most common downside to this is little to no control over the amount of energy they discharge, often leading to boughs of exhaustion.
Capricorn: Capricorn is an ever-shifting sign. The fluid nature of magic requires the ability to adapt to and understand new circumstances. Those born under Capricorns are quick learners, but their impressionable, bend-dont-break nature can make heavier lifting difficult.
Aquarius: Aquarians burn cold. Their relationship to the arcane draws energy in from their surroundings like a sponge. They are incredibly sensitive to the world around them, able to pick up on more subtle energies. This is a common sign for psychics, emapths, and those sensitive to spectral energy. If they are not careful to disenchant themselves, this sensitivity can overwhelm, leading to panic attacks and anxiety.
Pisces: Pisces tend to be fickle when it comes to energy, born with the most sensitivity but also the least control. Pisces carry an affinity for glamours, enthrallment, and charms. Untrained, this can lead to Pisces getting themselves in trouble, which is why this sign is associated with faeblood.
Toilet paper pill box.
Another small fun project for recycling! These are perfect for little gifts and a cute way to send your jewelry to customers… it not only give a nice shell of protection to the treasures you put inside, its cost free, customizable and keeps recycling on the mind <3
All you need are - toilet paper rolls - decor ( i used stamps) - Tape or glue
Step one: decorate your roll. I used some of my stamps, but don’t limit yourself to just that… you can use old paper, photographs, tissue paper, paint, sharpie and whatever else you have laying around to decorate. Mod podge and some pattered paper would be fun!
Step two: Once your roll is decorated to your liking, fold down the corners on one end, making it look like little cat ears. Make sure they fold over each other so there is no open gap, and tape down ( you can also glue the end down) * side note… if you dont like the look of regular tape, they sell something called washi tape? that comes in all sorts of amazing patterns!
-Step three: When you have some side sealed and taped down, wrap and place your item/treasures inside the box ( i wrapped up some earrings) and seal the other end, again making sure they fold over one another so there are no gaps.
- Step four… your done!
Again these are wonderful for gift giving and product packaging. Small, sturdy, cheap, recycled pill boxes…. you can use old paper towel rolls too! those are larger and can fit a bit more than TP rolls.
Holy crap I wanna do this.
This is actually great if you have a jar spell that gets buried! It’ll decompose rather than glass that will just take up space and turn into trash overtime. :)
OMG THIS IS EXCELLENT
HEY help Do you think it’d be disrespectful to get a tattoo of a statue of a greek god/goddess?wow that question wasn’t well written ANYWAYS
i personally dont but then again i'm not an authority? in any case ancient greek religion had no prohibitions on depicting deities that i know of, like some other religions do. i think you're good
As a Hellenistic Polytheist with a tattoo of Apollo, this is complicated... On one hand, the ancient greeks did not feel the same way we do about tattoos, as they usually only used tattooing to mark slaves and criminals.
"Herodotus, a Greek historian who lived from 484 to 426 BC, wrote of those who received tattoos in Greece, describing criminals, slaves, and prisoners of war."
"The Greeks had a firm belief that anyone who participated in the act of voluntary tattooing was a barbarian."
Source:
In today’s society, tattooing is a part of our culture – virtually worldwide. The practice has become about expressing oneself in a very per
However, it is clear that decorative tattoos were common in the Roman Empire, as decorative tattoos are found in Thrace, Dacia, Gaul etc. The Macedonian Pharoah Ptolemy IV (221-205 BC), was said to have been tattooed with ivy leaves to symbolize his devotion to Dionysus.
So I say go for it! I imagine whatever Greek God you're thinking of getting inked will be honored rather than offended. I feel very often that Apollo is pleased with mine.
I’m looking at a flower called ‘Apollo cinnamon’ and just internally screaming
This is how it looks like
Oh and these are called ‘Apollo lovesong’ and I’m about to cry
Okay here’s my research paper on why Apollo should be called The Flower Prince ™
Apollo rose
Apollo lily (Lilium Apollo)
Spring Dream Apollon
Apollo iris
Peruvian lily Apollo
Orange Apollo
White Apollo
Comet Apollo
Apollo hibiscus
Magnolia Apollo
I like how most of them are colors that are usually associated with Apollo.
Do you ever have doubts the the Greek gods are real?
Of course I do. Doubt is a natural and necessary part of belief. Asking questions and challenging what you hold as true leads to self-reflection, and self-reflection is sorely needed for any belief, religious or otherwise. Without it, all you have is blind faith.
Honestly, I would think that any religious (or spiritual) person who has never, ever doubted the truth of what they believe is either lying, overly gullible, or deluded. This is because, as human beings, we simply can’t know for sure what is or isn’t out there. Has anyone ever seen Zeus in the flesh? Taken a picture of Hera? Touched Athena’s aegis? No. Even written accounts can’t be proven to be unmistakeably true. Religion is not something we know, and we shouldn’t expect it to be. Religion is something we believe.
And when we believe, we doubt. Maybe we are wrong. Maybe I am putting my faith in the wrong place, maybe the Theoi aren’t real, maybe the one true religion is orthodox Judaism, or Shaktism, or 4th century Arianism, or Māori polytheism, or maybe there are no Gods at all. Who knows? Certainly not me, nor you, nor any of us.
But that doesn’t - and shouldn’t - stop me from believing. Rather, it enhances my religion because it forces me to ask myself what, exactly, I believe, and why. Among other reasons, I believe in the Theoi because the world seems to point towards the existence of a plurality of deities, and when I approach my altars, I feel something that I interpret as their presence. (Note the use of the verbs “seem”, “feel” and “interpret” - this is my personal experience, and others’ personal experiences will vary.) And even when I doubt this, even when I feel like my worship is pointless because ultimately, I only believe, I can’t know, I still take care of my altars and pray and make offerings, because doing so brings me comfort. Religion isn’t just about finding truth, after all; it’s also about finding meaning in life.
🌿Hellenismos Positivity🌿
🏺 Our religion may not be as widespread as it was but that doesn’t make it less valid
🏺 Just because the modern world is mostly monotheistic (and some only worship one Hellenistic god which a-okay ) doesn’t mean we’re “crazy” or “weird”
🏺Don’t worry about being inexperienced the gods are understanding and as long as you do your research and are sincere they care (I literally offered Dionysus multiple pine cones on multiple occasions)
🏺 Aphrodite ( Artemis , Hera and any other gods you may associate with a certain gender) loves their worshipers no matter their gender (that’s right terfs Aphrodite loves trans women and you can stay mad)
🏺 Feel free to add some more cause it’s late and my brain is a lil fried 🏺
Reblog for Aphrodite loving Trans, Genderfluid and NB folks!!! Read your Greek Myths, Terfs. I'll give you a search term, here you go: Salmacis.
Okay but like why aren’t any of my fellow southern witches talking about moonshine ??
Like fr, it’s alcohol that’s usually homemade and can be infused with literally anything.
If you charge it in the moon, it would be like moon water on steroids.
Oooou you could do it with Sun Tea also why have I never thought of this???
apollo and the muses 💞
*tastes potion like a chef testing the soup* hm. needs more eye of newt.
this is hilarious + its even funnier if u kno that eye of newt is probably mustard seed
so who else was today years old when they learned that “eye of newt” is mustard seed and not the literal eye of a newt or am i just dumb
Theres even more beyond eye of newt
no wonder my potions never work the way they should
So I got banned from the zoo for nothing?
Historically Sacred Items/Offerings to each of the Ouranic Theoi! I made this for my Hellenic polytheism group on discord, so I thought I’d share this information with all of you as well.
All information has been taken from theoi.com as well as various historical books on the gods, and I have decided to make this powerpoint so that other people don’t have to sift through all the pdfs and books themselves.
Make sure to click each image to get a fullview! Ευχαριστώ!

The houses role in Astrology 2✨
& a breakdown of the modalities, elements, 4 sections of the chart, & the MC, ASC, DC, & IC.
This post is Part 2 of my “The Houses role in Astrology” posts. Part 1 explains the house wheel & breaks down each of the 12 houses. In this post I will be breaking down the different divisions of the house wheel by going through the quadrants, the elements, & the modalities briefly. Part 1 here.
Quadrants - What are they? There are twelve houses & four quadrants. This means that 3 houses make up 1 Quadrant. The quadrants are basically four sections of the house wheel that can tell you a lot about the direction in which your life is focused. If you have a lot of planetary energy in one or two quadrants, then that can tell you a lot about the focus of your energy. If you have planets all over the place, that can also tell you’re a bit scattered in direction or that you’re balanced in all areas of life.
✨Quadrant 1 (Awareness of Self): 1-3
The first Quadrant refers to houses 1-3 which are primarily self focused houses. Having a lot of energy focused in this Quadrant can indicate that in this lifetime, your purpose is to really hone in on your personality & yourself. Info on Quadrant 1 here.
✨Quadrant 2 (Integration w/ Environmnt): 4-6
The Second Quadrant refers to houses 4-6 which are primarily environment related houses. Having a lot of energy within this Quadrant can indicate there’s a lot of focus on your foundation, home life, routine, creativity & self expression, & your relationships with your mother, family, & children. In this life it’s heavily emphasized that you really develop through your relationships with those closest to you and you really work on building a foundation that’s comfortable for you. Routine, the arts, & comfort are a big theme within this Quadrant as well. Info on Quadrant 2 here.
✨Quadrant 3 (Awareness of Others): 7-9
The Third Quadrant refers to houses 7-9 which are primarily relationship & people oriented houses. Having a lot of energy within this Quadrant can indicate that there’s a really big focus in this life to learn through your relationships with others. You most often feel like yourself when you’re around others & the more you meet new people or spend your time with others, the more you learn about yourself and the environment around you. A really big part of this life is to learn about partnership and working with others. Info on Quadrant 3 here.
✨Quadrant 4 (Integrarion w/ Society): 10-12
The Fourth Quadrant refers to houses 10 - 12 which are primarily humanitarian & society oriented houses. In this lifetime there’s a lot of focus to really learn and expand through friendship, society, & healing. These people are very goal oriented & they have a lot of focus on their career, goals, & things that are highly important to society or “the bigger picture.” Info on Quadrant 4 here.
More info on the Quadrants here, here, & here.

What are the modalities? There are 3 different modalities (cardinal, Fixed, & Mutable). The modalities within the wheel chart are called “Angular” which corresponds with cardinal energy, “Succedent” which corresponds with Fixed energy, & “Cadent” which corresponds with Mutable energy. If you are not familiar with cardinal, Fixed, & Mutable energy than look here for reference. My post on the modalities is here.
✨Angular Houses: 1, 4, 7, & 10
The Angular Houses corresponds with the Cardinal signs - Aries (1), Cancer (4), Libra (7), & Capricorn (10). These houses are more so about the “action” in life & they showcase a lot about you and your relationship with others. The first house is the house of self, the 4th house is the house of your upbringing, the 7th house is the house of interpersonal relationships, & the 10th house is the house of your goals and dreams. More info on the Angular Houses here.
✨Succedent Houses: 2, 5, 8, & 11
The Succedent Houses correspond with the Fixed signs - Taurus (2), Leo (5), Scorpio (8), & Aquarius (11). These houses are mainly about possessions & resources which ultimately goes to this idea of “security.” More info on the Succedent Houses here.
✨Cadent Houses: 3, 6, 9, & 12
The Cadent Houses correspond with the Mutable signs - Gemini (3), Virgo (6), Sagittarius (9), & Pisces (12). The Cadent Houses are all about our though process and why we do the things we do. The 3rd house is all about communication and lower education, the 6th house is about service and routine, the 9th house is about philosophy, religion, & higher education, and the 12th house is about our dreams, subconscious, & fears. More info on the Cadent Houses here.
More info on the modality of the Houses here, here, & here.
-
What are the Elements? There are four different elements within Astrology (fire, Earth, Water, & Air). Each element has corresponding qualities & those different elemental qualities will reflect in the houses. Info on the elements here for reference.
✨Fire Houses: 1, 5, & 9
The fire houses - Aries (1), Leo (5), & Sagittarius (9) - are houses that involve action, energy, & the experience of being/feeling “alive” which all in turn leads to this idea of Idenity. 1st house is the house of self, 5th house is the house of self expression, creativity, & “fun,” & the 9th house is the house of religion, philosophy, travel, & our beliefs. More info here.
✨Earth Houses: 2, 6, & 10
The Earth Houses - Taurus (2), Virgo (6), & Capricorn (10) - are houses that involve routine, comfort, & this idea of money & stability. The 2nd house is about finances, possessions, & values, the 6th house is about service & routine, the 10th house is career, our goals, & our dreams. More info here.
✨Air Houses: 3, 7, & 11
The Air Houses - Gemini (3), Libra (7), & Aquarius (11) - are houses that involve our connection with others. The third house is the house of communication, the 7th house is the house of interpersonal relationships (romantic & business), & the 11th house is the house of friendships. More info here.
✨Water Houses: 4, 8, & 12
The water houses - Cancer (4), Scorpio (8), & Pisces (12) - are all houses that involve death? Rebirth, the subconscious, & overall this spiritual/“psychic” essence. The 4th house is our roots (involving death/resting place), the 8th house is rebirth, death, & destruction, and the 12th house is illusion, the subconscious, & dreams. More info here.
More info on the elements here, here, & here.
Please be mindful that these are the most brief & basic of interpretations in order to get you started on the idea of these divisions. I have some helpful links to help & there are also other ways to divide the chart - these are just the three basic beginner ones that I found were the easiest to learn.
The chart image used is from here. Part 1 here.
Bottle Hex: Have A Terrible Day
SOURCE: Allura Hightower
INGREDIENTS:
Small Bottle/Jar (an empty pill bottle is ideal) 1 Black Candle 1 Small Slip Of Paper Black Pepper Saliva
INSTRUCTIONS:
Write your target’s full name on the slip of paper, and place it in your bottle or jar.
Pour a teaspoon of black pepper into the bottle, and spit a good amount of saliva in on top.
Close the bottle and shake the mixture together, thinking about why your target deserves to be hexed. Picture the kind of bad day you want them to have, in as much detail as possible. Open the bottle and whisper a quick “fuck you” in, before sealing the top closed with black wax.
This spell is best performed a few moments past midnight, so as to affect your target’s whole day from the very beginning.
NOTES:
This simple hex is designed to be short-lived – for when someone just deserves to have a terrible day. What makes their day a terrible one is up to you and your imagination.
The components of this hex are very easy to come by, and require very little effort on your part to put together.
This hex only has two ‘active’ ingredients: black pepper banishes evil and negativity, and saliva is widely seen as a display of disgust and contempt (and as such, is always useful in hexing and cursing).
