my bad for assuming everyone has critical thinking skills btw
okay i did two (2) pastel sketches of the lupine fields at mt rainier. left was on gray paper and and right is on white. it’s cool seeing side by side how that changed the colors! i like the one on white a lot better, but the gray one was referencing a picture i took when it was starting to fog up so i guess it fits.

First Becca Meyers, who is a swimmer, had to drop out of the Olympics because she is deaf and blind but wasn’t allowed to bring her care assistant
Now it turns out that Simone Biles had to drop out of the Olympics because they made her go off of her medication and what’s worse is that we know this because her medical history was leaked
For the record, Biles isn’t accused of using the medication as an enhancement, Japan has banned the medication from the country because they used to use it to drug their soldiers
Not to be that guy but this shit wouldn’t have to keep happening if all of you would add disabled people’s civil rights to the agenda. Maybe right after you get around to banning all plastic straws. I don’t know. Fuck us, I guess
this is not true. the discussion of ableism at the olympics and in sports in general is incredibly important, but by simone’s own account, this is NOT why she had to pull out of the olympics.
first, the article whose headline is shown here is from 2016.
second, athletes can apply for a therapeutic use exemption to bring their adhd medication to the olympics. we do not know if simone still takes this medication, and if so, if she applied for this exemption. it is NOT our business to speculate on that.
third, simone herself has repeatedly said she is suffering from the twisties. here is what she said on her instagram story on 7/30/2021, where she did a q&a about what’s happening.
it SUCKS that simone’s medical records were leaked in 2016. that’s horrible. and it’s very worrying what’s happening to her now, and it’s prompting a much needed discussion about the importance of athletes’ mental health. but spreading your own speculations based on a 5 year old article as if they’re fact, with no sources, when simone has given her own explanation of what’s going on (when she DID NOT have to!!), is disrespectful and invasive.
Me when an athlete wins the gold and they stand on the podium while their country’s anthem is played and they’re emotional
