a lot of people have worded the tommy neg twitter stuff a lot better than i have, but i have something to say about it, and i also want to talk about wilbur.

that stuff he told tommy on his stream about it "not being about him," that was a shit take.

now, it's not a shit take for a 25 year old. i'm glad that wilbur has come to these conclusions after having explored some of the world in his adult life and ultimately deciding to leave twitter. i feel the same way wilbur does, i think my choir professor put it best when he said "just make an effort to support everything you're not." but this is a shitty thing to say to a seventeen year old boy who already goes out of his way to help those around him (who notably talked to wilbur every day when wilbur had bad anxiety back in january). it's a shitty thing to say to any teenager who hasn't had the time to really explore the world for themselves. and it's incredibly unfair for wilbur to insinuate that tommy's mental heath is less important than being a "political activist," especially when wilbur isn't even on twitter.

what the people on twitter need to learn, specifically the kids, is that they aren't supposed to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. they aren't supposed to be constantly educating themselves on human rights issues or politics. shit like that is traumatizing, it's anxiety inducing, and combined with all the hate, it's literally the reason tommy is going to therapy. it's perfectly fine to research or learn about topics you're interested in. tommy mentioned he was really interested in lgbtq+ activism, and i think that's great! but i don't expect him to be constantly retweeting threads or talking about it because it's not his responsibility.

if you want to raise awareness for an issue, twitter is a good place to do that. if you want to try and solve that issue, go somewhere else. you can use twitter to support activists, but don't use it to do research or, god forbid, spread another petition because 99% of the time, those do fuckall. do you think that greta thunberg spends her time retweeting petitions or caards about climate change? no! she's organizing rallies, helping fund charities, speaking to an audience not exclusively on twitter. if you're passionate about climate change, support her. follow her examples of activism. don't long on to twitter and get disappointed because your favorite minecraft streamer isn't spending every minute of every day being and activist. and then go ahead and ask yourself, why am i putting those same unrealistic expectations on myself?

i just had the funniest fucking thought. what if phil asks the syndicate to play nice with wilbur just for a little bit. ranboo is completely fine with it and techno makes one or two comments about wilbur being the president of a now blown-up country every once in a while, but all in all they treat him pretty nicely. and oh fuck is niki pissed at him. but phil did ask very politely and they are his friends so she very begrudgingly promises not to kill his son

one day wilbur gets home and the rest of the syndicate are out and about on a quest to a woodland mansion or something. and niki knocks at his door holding a cake for him. wilbur's a little suspicious about it at first but hey, it's niki! she's always been so sweet, maybe sometimes too sweet for her own good, and he trusts her. there's no way she'd give him a poisoned cake, especially since she's on such good terms with phil.

so at niki's insistence he takes a slice of it only to freeze. mid-bite. because whoopsies that's not granite texture like he thought! she put fucking sand in it. and niki's face is slowly splitting into a wide grin because hey, phil never said anything about sabotaging her baked goods. there's an indecipherable look on wilbur's face and she thinks she finally has him until he starts
