Also if you wanna go a little further back My Wife and Kids replaced Jazz Raycole with Jennifer Freeman. In fact, for the promotion of the show after the new Clare was cast, they didnât even bother shooting new pictures; they just put Jenniferâs head on Jazzâs body.
#Facts If we are serious about inclusive representation, then we have to get into colorism and the erasure of darker-skinned Black female characters.
Another fact, Black Hollywood content creators often inflict this problem on their own. Thatâs why âInsecureâ, âI May Destroy Youâ, âSelah and the Spadesâ and any number of recent TV shows and movies are important. And it is no coincidence that a lot of these new good projects are created by darker-skinned women who knows whatâs up and are centering more sisters on the darker spectrum. Long overdue.
take the time to read this post itâs important
this is a really really important thing to talk about and something we have to keep talking about, especially when people fan-cast gugu mbatha-raw into roles originally written for dark-skinned black women. i see you, i get you, we all want gugu mbatha-raw in absolutely everythingâŠ.but widen your pool and elevate dark-skinned black women too. colorism in hollywood is no fuckin joke and your fancasts can challenge that
feel like this is worth reblogging again especially considering we now KNOW Hollywood literally takes tumblr fancasts into account when casting popular shows (thanks Ben Barnes)
anyways, japanese imperialism is not a thing of the past and still exists today. japanese propaganda is in the little things, and to end it you have to recognize them. stop glorifying the rising sun flag. pay attention to how japanese media treats its korean characters as opposed to the white ones. be on your guard when anyone or anything implies that japan is in any way superior to other asian countries. above all, listen to and support any poc who has been affected by japanese imperialism.
you can reblog this post instead of liking it btw
this isnât really my usual sort of post but i think itâs important to talk about
im half japanese, and i love to learn about my culture and history, but this stuff almost never gets brought up. i didnât know what the korean comfort women were until a few years ago. when my history class taught us about wwII, they didnât get into the full effects that Japanese imperialism had on the pacific islands. the countries that were harmed by japanâs empire were treated as landmasses that the Japanese just sorta claimed, and we never learned about how horrifically violent their conquest could be, how they erased the identities of other poc, and how truly destructive their history is. japanese history hides all these little things, while subtly preaching that japan is somehow superior.
Japanese history is fascinating, but you canât cherry-pick what parts of it you want to learn. op is 100% correct! Japanese imperialism is very much still a thing, and if you pay close attention, the amount of propaganda youâll see is horrifying. Japanese media is full of blatant racism. be aware of the media you consume, and be conscious of what youâre taught. people have suffered, and are still suffering. please be careful.

Quarter of white Americans donât view anti-Asian racism as a problem, report finds
37% of white Americans say they are not aware of an increase in hate crimes and racism against Asian Americans over the past year, even after the Atlanta shootings and mainstream outletsâ reports on anti-Asian hate. These numbers are higher for respondents who identify as Republican (46%) compared to Democrats (22%). 35% of Republicans and 12% of Democrats do not believe anti-Asian racism is a problem that should be addressed.
Americans are most comfortable with Asian Americans as doctors or nurses, friends, and co-workers. They are less comfortable with Asian Americans as their boss, in-laws, and president of the United States. Asian Americans are significantly underrepresented in senior positions in companies, politics, and media, but nearly 50% of non-Asian Americans believe the opposite is true.

MÄori Sailors May Have Reached Antarctica 1,200 Years Before Europeans
Antarctica is considered to be the last of Earthâs continents to have been conquered, with the first recorded voyages to the icy south occurring in the 1820s. Yet a new study in the Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand provides evidence that MÄori exploration of Antarctica predates these European expeditions by 1,200 years, with the first vessel reaching the continent in the seventh century.
"Hui Te Rangiora's voyage and return are part of the history of the NgÄti RÄrua people, and these stories appear in a number of carvings," write the authors, before noting that âMÄori participation in Antarctic voyaging and expedition has continued to the present day but is rarely acknowledged or highlighted.â

At gc2b we have been mourning. At gc2b we have been angry. At gc2b we have been fighting. As a Black/Latinx owned brand with Black leadership, we have BEEN familiar and in constant pain by murders, violence, and police brutality of Black people in the United States. George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Sean Reed, Tony McDade, Iyanna Dior, and countless others look like our family and friends.
This knowledge, experience, and resiliency is embedded in our company. Not only do we support the protests, calls to justice, and action being taken to dismantle white supremacy, but we stand in firm solidarity with ALL Black lives! We will continue to do the work that is necessary for the justice and liberation of ALL Black people.
We are aware of the privilege we hold as an independently owned company and it is our mission to leverage our resources, talents, and platform to rally and demand justice. We know our following and customer base is very white and very young, so it is important that we use this moment to directly call out and hold our followers, supporters, and customers accountable to challenge their own anti-blackness and racism. To recognize their own privilege and leverage and make change in your own lives â that means holding yourself, your family, your friend circles, and ultimately white America as a whole, accountable and commit to being not only ânot racistâ, but ANTI-RACIST.
In the past we have used our platform to educate folks on the sacrifices that Black queer people, specifically Black trans women, have made in order for ALL of us to have liberation, and specifically having the ability to celebrate Pride every year. As many of you know, Pride was born from the protests and riots, led by Black and Latinx trans women and queer people, that were fighting against police brutality. We must not forget these struggles and sacrifices as we go further into June. Do not become complacent. Do not stop centering Black lives. We must continue to fight against police brutality, and continue to speak out and hold one another accountable.
Audre Lorde said that âWithout community, there is no liberation.â In a society underpinned by white supremacy that was designed to drain us of our will to fight for liberation, it is critical that we center community as it is a source of nourishment. Remember that all things exist together, and that it is okay to be sad, full of rage, and tired â but it is also important for all of us to remain with one another through community and joy.
In the following, we will list our action steps:Â
FIRST STEPS â We immediately leveraged our platform and revenue to raise funds for Black Visions Collective MN and Reclaim the Block. We raised a total of $5,118 and sent $2,559 to each organization.Â
FROM WITHIN â The gc2b team has collectively and independently been on the ground at local protests, using our individual pages to raise awareness, and making independent donations to various groups. We are privileged to work at an office with a community where we can find support and solidarity. Our team has committed to creating a shared resource bank to support our own continuous learning in fighting for liberation and equality. It is our hope that this resource will serve as an educational tool, allowing for more accessibility to continue to examine our consciousness surrounding race, justice, and equity. We are not perfect, but we will continue to heal and grow as a company.
OUR FOLLOWERSÂ â We are now calling on our non-black followers to do their part: recognize your own privilege and bias in your life, have conversations with your family and friends, donate to organizations leading the movement if you can, sign the petitions, go to protest and vow to look to Black leadership, use your platform to raise awareness and to center Black voices.
OUR PEERSÂ â We are asking that our fellow queer / trans brands and organizations look inward! Who is in your meetings? Who is at your table? Make a real effort to hire Black leadership within.
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT  â In 2019, we raised $8,121.77 for MPJI through âRebel Rootsâ. This past February, we raised $20,000 for BTTF. We are relaunching the âRebel Rootsâ and âSafe Travelsâ collections into one âBlack Trans Liberationâ capsule!
We will now merge these two projects to relaunch both of them to raise more funds for MPJI, BTTF, No Justice No Peace, and Emergency Relief Fund (which specifically bails trans people out of jail). 100% of the profits from this capsule will go into these orgs doing the work and fighting the fight. In the spirit of Pride, weâve made a few changes to some of these items and are asking folks to once again support this mission that needed now more than ever.
The fight against White supremacy is a marathon, not a sprint. Lock in.
In solidarity, the 2b.team
Kingdom/Crest Pride flags! So I saw a tumblr post on twitter, mentioning how the flags were always stripes, which they found boring (and upon thinking about it, I also realized itâs not very color-blind friendly) so I made some prideflags with crests for fun! The symbolism shouldnât be taken too seriouysly, nor was it my intent to create something to replace the current flags. This was just a design challenge!! I also noticed that the black looks kind of purple-y/grayish on some of my designs (such as the ace flag). Sorry for that!! Once again, these were designs for fun! In no way am I trying to boil people down to a stereotype!! Also note that these were made for twitter originally. They allow only 4 pictures at once, hence why I only made 7 so far (the original post included the tumblr post). Iâm not trying to be exclusive and might make more ;;; Some of them are also available on my redbubble, if someone would be interested:Â

I love these!!
I forgot the login for a while but happy pride month my loves!!
Now is the perfect time to google that sexuality you never quite understood or call out your casually homophobic brother but the most important thing to do this month is to remeber and appreciate how hard the LGBTQIA+ community has fought to be here today and how homophobia is not dead contrary to popular (but ignorant) belief.
This is all uk based because thatâs where I live
Even though having gay sex was legalised in 1967 that was gay men over the age of 21 in a private space, laws that did not apply to straight people of the time. And even worse lesbian sex was lesgalised in only 2001. When I was researching these stats that shocked and disgusted me to no end.
Same sex marriage was only legalised in 2014. Meaning there are no married same sex couples in the uk that have been married for a decade but there are heterosexual ones that have been married for nearly a century.
Gay people have been able to adopt in England since 2005 in Scotland 2009 and in northern island only 2013. But straight people have been able to adopt since 1926.
Transgender people have only been able to change their legal gender since 2005, 16 years ago thereâs still no legal representation despite the countless petitions for a shred of recognition from the people who are meant to be helping their whole countries citizens not just the middle class heteronormative white ones.
In short even though the stonewall riots happened 52 years ago the lgbtqia+ community is still fighting for the same rights as heterosexuals. For too long change had been coming but coming far too slow, how about this pride month we try change that.
There is far more that I could talk about but I just realised this is huge and I havenât spell checked this so my apologies for that.
I think this is very important
People are constantly mixing up or confusing anxiety attacks and panic attacks
I know this post wonât get a lot of notes and a lot of people probably wonât see it but I think itâs important and I wanna make sure that at least a few people see it
Feel free to add more if you know any
I would reblog this so people actually know the difference because again, I think itâs important
âWomen speaking of mirrors and prettiness make it all too clear that even for pretty women, mirrors are the foci of anxious, not gratified, narcissism. The woman who knows beyond a doubt that she is beautiful exists aplenty in male novelistsâ imaginations; I have yet to find her in womenâs books or womenâs memoirs or in life. Women spend a lot of time looking in mirrors, but the âcompulsion to visualize the selfâ is a phrase Moers uses of women in her chapter on Gothic freaks and horrors; the compulsion is a constant check on oneâs (possible) beauty, not an enjoyment of it.â

Survey finds that 42 percent of people in U.S. can't name one Asian American
When asked to name a famous Asian American, 42 percent of respondents answered âdonât know.â The next most popular choices were martial arts legends Jackie Chan (11 percent), whoâs from Hong Kong, and Bruce Lee (9 percent), who died nearly a half-century ago. The results were similar across racial groups: Among Black, white, and Latino Americans, âdonât knowâ was the most common answer.
The survey found 1 in 5 respondents thought Asian Americans were âmore loyal to their countries of origin than to the U.S.â The result, Paul Watanabe said, reflects the persistence of the âperpetual foreignerâ trope in the country, nearly two centuries after the first major wave of Asian immigration. Another question showed that Americans were most comfortable with an Asian person as their doctor, friend, or colleague and less comfortable as their boss, in-law, or president of the United States. The finding tracks with the groupâs social standing in America, as Asians only occupy 2.6 percent of leadership positions nationwide.
