It's so sad to learn the Japanese voice actress of Ran Mouri has passed away. Wakana Yamazaki had been with the series since the very beginning and for 30 years she stayed with her character that so many people loved.... and now it's sad to think the series will go on without her. I prefer English dubs, but I still appreciate Japanese voice casts and Wakana Yamazaki truly had a real angelic voice that was perfect for Ran Mouri. She will be greatly missed.

Wakana Yamazaki left a void behind in the Detective Conan that no one can fill. My heart goes out to everyone, family, friend or fan who loved her. May she rest in peace.

Ran's Tears

Ran's crying is so contagious, and the way she carries herself when she cries makes her look naturally beautiful. I never noticed until a fan pointed out that her tears are actually "one-of-a-kind" in the world of Detective Conan.

Aoyama-sensei has given her beautiful, round shaped tears that are pearl-like, in contrast to other characters' streams of tears (no offense to the others).

I absolutely love this special treatment Aoyama-sensei has given Ran, and I can’t agree more when people say he loves and cherishes her like his own daughter.

Q: Aoyama-sensei, of everything you've drawn so far, what is your favorite story?

Aoyama: Ah, definitely "Ran GIRL" and "Shinichi BOY". I think I did a good job with that one (laughs).

Host/Emcee: Every year, you're like "I love Ran-chan", "I love romance", "I love lovey-dovey stuff", aren't you?

Aoyama: That's right (laughs).
