A cop in Seattle maced a little girl yesterday after police used pepper spray and tear gas to disperse a non-violent crowd of protesters.
A cop in New York drove a car into a crowd of protesters and ran them over.
A cop in Minneapolis shot a photojournalist in the eye with a rubber bullet.
Cops in Minneapolis also arrested a CNN correspondent on live TV, even after he identified himself as a reporter and offered to move out of the way.
A cop in Louisville intentionally shot two journalists with pepper balls despite them following police orders.
This video shows police in multiple cities across the country attacking protesters unprovoked.
(Oh, and in the meantime, the president is trying to declare anti fascists a terrorist group.)
I don’t care that this doesn’t fit with the theme of my blog. This is wrong and I need to say something. There are ZERO valid excuses for a cop pepper spraying a child, randomly shoving someone into the ground, or running people over with a car. The job of the police should be to de-escalate situations, and all across the country they have done the exact opposite.
This should horrify every single American (and Canadians, too) regardless of political leaning, and the fact that it doesn’t is a very, very scary thing.
Listen to the protesters. Listen to the people who are out there in the streets. They are filming. They are taking down badge numbers. These are not isolated incidents.
Black lives matter. Pay attention.
