This is my Baldur's Gate 3 side blog. I use it to reblog BG3 related things.

I may be a bit more Tav-/OC-centric (most notable character of mine is Michael who I took through a few universes at this point, but there is a few more too) but out of canon characters I am also interested in Gale's character the most.

I understand people are just horny but like. It feels like such a fundamental disservice to Gale's character to put him in poly relationships when he clearly and frequently expresses that he is absolutely not into it. I just see so much Gale/Tav/Astarion stuff and I know the "mlm ship x reader" fantasy is popular on this site but... and I mean this in the least parasocial way possible... do you actually even like this character? If your fantasy is to immediately change a very fundamental part of dating him. There aren't many pieces of media where a character is propositioned for polyamory and will specifically be cool or not cool with that and bg3 is one of them. Astarion is kiiinda poly (only okay with it if the player dates Halsin, and probably just because of wood-elf stereotypes), Gale is very much NOT.

Plus considering this is a game that very explicitly punishes the player for denying Astarion's agency with Araj Oblodra or failing to see him as more than the sexy vampire fantasy with the ascension route it just comes off as extra tone deaf. These characters are whole people that you are supposed to respect as they are.

Now that I’ve been playing bg3 for a while and seen enough fan content about it I have a confession to make

I do not understand bloodweave at all I don’t understand how it’s the most popular non tav ship, they’re is nothing compelling about their relationship to me, putting astarion with wyll or Karlach seems much more interesting to me, even halsin or shadowheart I can understand but astarion and gale??? I don’t understand why it’s so widely shipped.

Part of me thinks it’s just people saw the two white male companions and shoved them together bc they wanted a mlm popular ship bc that’s what fandoms want idk

If you have a Gale romance involving a male or non-binary tav, then this shout out is specifically for you, because I've seen a few folks talk about how they don't always feel as welcomed in the Galemancing gang, or that they don't get as much love as those of us with ladies to romance the rizzard, and you deserve to have your moment to shine too. Gale isn't exclusively for the girlies, he's a man of many tastes.

Notable of course how in romance scenes Gale only ever seems confident at all when the Weave is involved, and becomes noticeably more insecure and self deprecating whenever something romantic is happening in, sorry I was about to call it "meatspace". The mortal plane or whatever.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people posting about the BG3 fandom burning out or being disappointed that artists they love have moved to other fandoms - so I just wanted to post a little update from my corner of tumblr.

There is a TON of BG3 fan art and discussion still going on. My queue is like overflowing, even more so than it was several months ago. Like, normally I might see a post and it would be scheduled for reblog within 3 hours, now it’s more like 7+ hours with how much stuff I have in queue.

So, even if your favorite artist has been lured way by Dragon Age, there’s tons of other fabulous artists out there worth checking out for your BG3 fix!

Fandoms grow and change, that’s healthy! It’s also healthy for artists to draw what excites or inspires them! And there are plenty of people still inspired by BG3 right now, just give some new or smaller artists some love 💕 My blog is full of them if you need help finding any 😉

Imagine crying about fandom dying and how there is no fanart while there is tons of art made but it barely reaches 10 notes and on top of this people in this fandom are really allergic to reblogging so the art you liked doesn't even receive any traction.

I'd be more enthusiastic making art for that fandom consistently but people truly just focus on most popular artists then cry when they leave while ignoring smaller artists, who eventually leave too because posting art to a bunch of people who ignore them or never reblog is not fun.
