I’m starting to think this dog/werewolf thing might be some kind of built-in coping mechanism. Well, I started to think that a while ago, when I noticed it cropped up when I got stressed, homesick, or otherwise upset. Now, I’ve just kind of confirmed it.

It’s still not something I 100% consciously do, make myself “feel canine”, but crops up more frequently and is an easier headspace to get into when I’m upset. That leads me to believe it’s something I do subconsciously to make myself feel better, even though it doesn’t actually work.

I’m still not sure what to do about the whole thing because it’s not something I think I can get rid of or stop doing. It doesn’t seem like I have much, if any, control over.

I think it’s actually really really awesome that you can recognize this! It’s not necessarily a bad thing to be using those feeling as a coping mechanism (regardless of how well they work). I wouldn’t say I feel like a canine 100% of the time (anymore, as I think I’m getting better at accepting my current state) but I certainly have a strong connection to them and if I allow myself to tap into those feelings, they’re there.

Terms for joining: - must be 16+ (15 year olds still qualify but will be considered Younglings until they reach 16) - must have been awakened for at least one full year - must be a therian (obviously) - must be located in North America (this makes communications easier to maintain) —

So what makes Bristlecone different from all the other packs that seem to pop up every day? In simple terms, we are the exact definition of what a pack is; give or take a few twists. Let’s be honest, while we are animals, we are still human, too. A pack is a family unit that lives and hunts together. That’s what we do. We are a family unit that live the same life together. We share that path of therianthropy, the journey of self-discovery, but instead of facing it alone, we support each other. We learn, we grow, we explore.
