The Simple Things

Saturday was the day of a long-awaited hair appointment with the amazing 0rlando Stylist @stylesbychesca. Because she’s my friend and my sons’ godmother you would think I can get to her at any time to get my hair done. The truth is she is so good that she is always booked so when I finally get an appointment, I rescheduled three times and she had to reschedule once. I decided to reschedule my appointment again   I wanted to spend quality time with my family. The past three weeks I worked overtime six days a week and when I finally got a free Saturday, I chose my family over a beautiful set of braids. 

Because of the quarantine my family has been in the house nonstop and there was a loss in our family so I figured my husband and I can get an above ground pool and we took it a step further and got a barbeque grill. I totally forgot that the very next day was Easter 

Today was amazing. My husband, son, father in law, and cousin got in the pool While I was on the grill. My husband was grilling first but, my son was scared in the pool, so my husband got in to help him have more fun. Today was my first-time grilling and it was a success. After the pool we all sat and ate on the patio. We never did that before. It felt good. I was right. My husband cleaned up afterwards and everyone too their baths and went to sleep. This is a tradition I want to keep forever. Enjoy the simple things because the simple things turn into the greatest moments.

Yesterday I totally forgot that today was Easter Sunday. We’ve been inside so we decided to get a pool and grill to have fun. Today was successful! I’m not small enough, I don’t look cute enough, I’m not a good writer, I don’t have the perfect voice. Blah, blah, blah! We all tell ourselves something along those lines, but I've told myself all of these things and more.  I have a dream to be a singer. Not just any singer, but a worshipper that's able to be vulnerable through the music that I write. I would say that there are many things standing in my way but that would be a lie. The truth is the only thing that's standing in the way of me and greatness is...Me. I always tell myself that the conditions have to be perfect, but if I never start how can the conditions be right? Don’t lose out on precious time because once it is lost it can never come back. They say the law of mastering a skill is that you have to put in 10,000 hours. When will your 10,000 hours begin?

Don’t sweat the small stuff.

This is my first time blogging and I sure the rule is you’re never supposed to start a blog with “I”, but...here it goes. I’ve never been the most positive or free person, but I have become more aware of my desire to be happier. not just a joy that is reflected upon outside conditions, but a choice that only comes from the happiness within myself. I have so much to learn and a lot of growing to do, but choosing my happiness is the best thing I could have done not only for me but for everything and everyone around me. I’ll keep you posted on my journey.
