Every now and again
A wave of interns flood the office with idiocy and immaturity. I can’t even trust these kids with my coffee order.
That’s because your perception of what a “dash” of cinnamon is differs from what the general public determines a “dash” to be.
On a scale of 1-10,
Wow, okay. How much coffee have you had today? Also, there isn’t any sunshine at night, which is the time of day I’m making plans for. Plus, I’m planning to rest so my time of death will be farther in the future.
Just my regular amount. You know, one cup with my breakfast, one while I get ready and one in my travel mug when I’m on my way out! Which reminds me, do you know where my green mug is? You know, the one with the white polka dots I can’t find it anywhere.
Anything potential yet in the plans department? I suppose I’ll let you rest if it means that you’ll stick around for a long while.
On a scale of 1-10,
Not particularly. But a restful night could make for a positive end of the day.
Oh come on, Sebastian! It’s a beautiful day outside! No sense staying inside. Be restful when you’re dead and enjoy the day!
What a Beautiful Sunday
What perfect weather to wake up to an exciting schedule ahead! There’s only a few things that I love more than spending the day with my “What If?” cast mates. Fingers crossed for an incredible day!
On a scale of 1-10,
Today is hovering at a solid 5. Let’s see if tonight will tip it one way or the other.
Big plans tonight or something?

Before the Parade Passes By
CHARACTERS: Sebastian Smythe and Blaine Anderson LOCATION: Streets of New York City TIME FRAME: Saturday June 28th, 2015 GENERAL NOTES: Sebastian and Blaine get separated from their group of friends during New York City Pride. Steps are taken in their relationship.
Blaine looked out to the crowd as Sebastian spoke, hearing the volume of the music grow louder and louder as the line of floats drew closer only to snap his head back at Sebastian's words. "Flash someone?" he asked, his voice flushed a shocked as he brought his hand up, hooking his index finger into the collar of his, already low cut, tank top to pull on it and expose more of his chest. "You mean, like this?" he asked, looking up at Sebastian with innocent eyes before releasing the fabric, a playfully coy smile flashing across his lips and a sparkle in his eye. "This isn't Mardi Gras, Sebastian. Everyone gets beads here." he laughed, turning his attention back to the parade.Blaine looked out to the crowd as Sebastian spoke, hearing the volume of the music grow louder and louder as the line of floats drew closer only to snap his head back at Sebastian's words. Everyone gets beads here." he laughed, turning his attention back to the parade.Blaine pushed up onto his tip toes in an effort to somehow peer over the crowds of people that had flocked to the East Village for the New York City Pride celebrations. "I can't see them!" He called out to Sebastian, falling back to flat feet when someone jostled him and his yellow backpack from behind. "Maybe if I call her-" he offered, shouting to be heard as he dialled Quinn's number. "Quinn? Quinn, look, it's Blaine, call me when you get this. I'm with Sebastian but just- call me. Okay- okay bye." Clicking off his phone he looked up at Sebastian, shrugging his shoulders, "Voicemail." He explained simply.
Sebastian used his height to look around the crowd, searching for the group of people he and Blaine had come with. He had a better vantage point than Blaine, but he still couldn't catch a glimpse of anyone he knew. "Voicemail? She must have it on vibrate." He said, snaking an arm around Blaine's shoulders to guide him through the crowd, glaring daggers at the man who had bumped into him. "I'll text Jesse, but I don't know if he'll respond." He said, pulling his phone out of his pocket. After he texted Jesse he tugged on Blaine's backpack to get his attention. "Do you have any sunscreen? I can feel the freckles forming."
Blaine tucked himself close to Sebastian as the two of them weaved through the crowd, looking up at the sky he knew that he couldn't have hoped for a better day. The sky was blue, the sun hot and a relieving breeze that allowed everyone a refreshing rush of cool air every so often making it nothing short of perfect. "And this is why," Blaine began, the teacher in him starting to show, "I insisted on the overlapping buddy system. You know, keep an eye on your buddy as well as your friend's buddy. It's fool proof! So we-" he stopped himself when Sebastian nudged his backpack. "Oh, oh of course. Middle pocket... Right side." He said, turning his backpack toward the taller boy.
Sebastian chuckled when Blaine began to rant. His concern was so cute, and although he was revealing himself to be a responsible adult Sebastian wanted to shrink him and put him in his pocket. He knew that one of the reasons that the plan had fallen apart was because he hadn't been able to take his eyes off
Blaine in his short shorts and bright tank top, but he certainly wasn't going to admit it. "Thanks." He replied. "It might be fools proof, but not pride proof, I guess. This crowd is unbelievable." He said as he dug around Blaine's backpack, successfully withdrawing the sunscreen. He began to apply it to his face, bumping his shoulder against Blaine's. "Mind betting my back?" He asked, gesturing to the large patches of skin revealed by his thin tank top.
Blaine rolled his eyes at Sebastian's comment, convincing himself not to laugh as his irritation towards their other friends subsided. However, his attention was quickly moved, giving Sebastian a quick nod before shifting them out of the main stream of never ending foot traffic that paraded down the sidewalks and streets. "Sure, of course." He said as casually as possible, plucking the bottle from the other boy's hand and squeezing some lotion into his own. "You're already a little red." He mentioned, pushing himself back up onto his tip toes to better reach Sebastian's shoulders, "That should be better. We'll reapply in..." He glanced at his watch, "Two hours, yeah?" He asked, moving around to face Sebastian.
Sebastian turned his back to Blaine, glad that they were out of the stream of traffic. The sidewalk and streets were absolutely packed and while Sebastian had anticipated a crowd, this was like nothing he'd ever seen before. He was just glad that out of all the people to be stranded with he was with Blaine. "Really?" He said, looking back to try to catch a glimpse of his shoulders. white sunscreen smeared over a his cheek. Blaine's hands felt nice on his shoulders, even if the touch was far more purposeful than he would have liked. The older man finished applying the sunscreen to his face, rubbing the leftover mess on his chest. "That sounds about right." He said, readjusting his sunglasses on his nose. "Well, I guess we should try to find a spot for the parade and hope we can get in contact with the others." He held out his hand to Blaine, hoping he would take it. "So we don't get separated."
Blaine 's eyes looked down at Sebastian's outstretched hand, his brain taking longer than usual to comprehend the words that the other boy had said which was something he put off to the heat that had clearly clouded his mind. "Totally." he said after a quick second, reaching out and grasping the other boy's hand tightly as they merged back into the crowded streets. "You know, there's a pub up the street here, it has a really great patio," Blaine began, blabbing excitedly to Sebastian as they continued to walk, "And, rumour has it, they have a drink menu just for Pride weekend. Besides, the parade is always better with a little buzz." he joked, feeling a flip in his stomach at the memory of the last time he had been drunk with Sebastian.
Sebastian laced their fingers together as casually as he could, not wanting the touch to carry an importance they weren't ready for. He lead them through the crowd skillfully, managing to press through the throng of people while still keeping Blaine within earshot. "They made a drink just got us gays?" He asked, looking back at Blaine with a wide grin. "What a time to be alive." He tugged on Blaine's hand gently, pulling him out of the path of a drag queen and her entourage. "Are you trying to get me drunk, Anderson?" He teased. "Still, a drink sounds perfect right now. We've got some time to kill before the parade starts." He bumped his shoulder against Blaine's, looking down at him with a fond smile. "Take me there."
Blaine laughed, keeping the lighthearted conversation between the two of them as he allowed the other boy to maneuver them through the crowded streets. "Maybe." he joked back, a playful smile on his lips as he looked up through his sun glasses at the other boy, adjusting the grip of their hands to hold Sebastian's hand a bit more firmly once they had made it through the thickest part of the crowd which he hoped would wordlessly tell Sebastian not to let go. "Okay." he said after a moment, taking the lead and pulling the taller boy down a side street, "First shot is on me."
Sebastian tried to focus on the crowd or the beautiful weather, but his brain could only seem to concentrate on the press of Blaine's palm against his. He hadn't held someone's hand since he'd been in Paris with his mother as a child, but now it felt like a solid lifeline connecting him to Blaine instead of a restraint on his freedom. He could get used to this - in fact, he already had. "It's on you? So we're doing body shots? I'm in." He said, his voice slightly teasing but mostly happy. They ducked into the crowded pub, and Sebastian followed Blaine up to the outside patio and bar.
Blaine glanced over his shoulder at Sebastian's comment, a playful spark in his eyes as he raised his eyebrow to the boy. "You wish, Smythe." he teased, feeling energized by the day and more and more comfortable with the time he spent with Sebastian. Quickly, he led them outside, a rushed breeze skipping across Blaine's hot skin as they made their way to the most popular spot in the entire pub: the patio bar. "Two tequila shots, please." Blaine requested, flashing the bartender a sweet smile that granted him immediate service. "Happy Pride!" the bartender replied, setting the two shot glasses down and giving Blaine one last look, "Cutie." he added with a wink before turning to serve his next customer.
Sebastian grinned. "But I'd let you do it to me!" He mock protested, his tone just exaggerated enough to show that he was joking. He sighed in relief when they made it to the patio, the breeze cooling his skin after being on the crowded street. He watched the interaction between Blaine and the bartender carefully, glaring at the other man once he complimented Blaine. With a haughty look and smug smile, Sebastian placed their clasped hands on the bar, reaching for the shot with his free hand. "A happy Pride, indeed." He said lowly, making sure the bartender saw how close he and Blaine were.
Sebastian grinned wickedly as he put Blaine's words and motions together, feeling silly that he'd wasted so much energy on trying to chase away a bartender who was probably only fishing for tips. He ducked his head, keeping eye contact with Blaine the entire time. "You know me too well, Anderson." He said, his voice low and smooth. Slowly, he lowered his head to Blaine's hand, his tongue darting out to lick off the salt quickly, unable to linger because of the strong taste. He knocked back the shot, slipping the lime between his teeth after to finish it off. He managed not to wince, his expression staying neutral as he dealt with the strong flavors. "Your turn, Killer." He said as he began to prepare the salt on his own hand.
Blaine ran his tongue over his teeth as Sebastian's tongue ran along his skin, sending a tingling sensation up his nerves with Sebastian's eyes locked on him. "Deal." He murmured playfully, keeping his tone as neutral as possible, unwilling to show Sebastian just how much he had affected him. Quickly he followed in suit, pulling Sebastian's wrist to his mouth and licking the salt clean and throwing back the shot with a shiver. "God.." He gasped, reacting to the taste as he snatched a lime up and popped it into his mouth. "Every time I do shots," he began, wiping his mouth, "I seem to forget where my mouth is." He laughed
Sebastian gave Blaine a wink as he licked the salt from his hand, struck by the desire to lure Blaine to his lips, but he could tell that this wasn't the time or the place, despite their blatant flirtation. He reached out after Blaine finished the shot, using his thumb to wipe a drop of tequila from the corner of Blaine's mouth, sucking it between his own lips to catch the flavor. "That happens to most people after they've done the shot, not while it's happening." He teased, moving forward so the people behind him could get to the bar. "Next time I can remind you where your mouth is, if you need a nudge in the right direction." Blaine 's heart rate sped up as Sebastian stepped closer to him, watching the way he sucked the tequila from his thumb in the process. "Yeah," Blaine stammered, feeling as though his tongue had expanded in his mouth causing him to forget how to speak, "Yeah maybe I'll... Take you up on... That." He finally finished, moving even closer when another bar patron nudged him closer from behind.
Sebastian knew that he wasn't ever going to get tired of how Blaine reacted to him when he reverted back to his flirtatious self. It was fun, most of the time, but it was also nice to be relaxed and interact with Blaine in a more platonic way, even if their actions were always weighted with more. "I hope you do." He said, looping an arm around Blaine's waist. "Watch out for your backpack." He said. "Easy target for pickpockets, even inside." He warned, the rest of the bar beginning to fade away as he focused his energy on Blaine. "How about I remind you now?" He said, moving in closer. Just as he was prepared to close the distance between them, a surprised voice rang out behind him. "Smythe?" Sebastian froze, needing a moment to recognize the voice. "Fuck." He mumbled, his eyes wide and panicked for a second before his expression smoothed out. "Simmons. Hey." He pulled away from Blaine, extending his hand to shake.
Blaine barely choked out a laugh as Sebastian's hand wove around his waist, pulling him close until their chests were barely pressed together and his fingers were leaving sparks along his exposed skin. "Thanks." he murmured, his eyes falling to Sebastian's lips as they moved closer to his own. "I'd like that." he barely whispered, uncaring if his words could be heard over the chatter and music that played loudly from the inside bar and out onto the patio because it was finally happening, the kiss he had been hoping for. "I..." he was suddenly snapped from the moment as Sebastian pulled back abruptly to shake hands with a man who had appeared seemingly from thin air.
Sebastian could feel his heart rate picking up rapidly as his palms began to sweat. He had to focus on breathing and keeping his face in a neutral expression, hoping desperately that Simmons was, for some reason, unable to read his shirt or ridiculously oblivious to the fact that he'd almost kissed Blaine, sweet, perfect Blaine, who he'd been dying to kiss for months now. "So, you're." Simmons paused awkwardly, looking between him and Blaine, then down to his shirt. "So you're celebrating Pride?" He asked, eyebrows raised. Sebastian swallowed, forcing a calm smile onto his face. "Yeah. Seems like the who city's out. What are you doing in these parts?" He forced his free hand into a fist, forcing all of the tension from his body into it. "Oh, I came down with my roommate and her girlfriend." Simmons explained, giving Sebastian a disarming smile. "I'll leave you both to it. Happy Pride." With that Simmons pushed his way through the crowd, but Sebastian couldn't focus on anything but one blinding, terrifying thought: he'd been outed. "I have to go." He said suddenly, looking around for the nearest exit, springing into action to push his way through the throng.
Blaine 's mind was racing as he watched the exchange between the two men, reading both of their expressions as best he could as their tone remained formal and even. Still, his eyes always fell back to Sebastian, taking in the way that every aspect of Sebastian's presences had tightened in way that Blaine had only seen once before, the day Blaine had met Sebastian's Father. It was then that Blaine felt his own stomach twist and before he could speak Sebastian had taken off, pushing his way through the crowd without a care for the people in his way. "Sebastian!" Blaine called out, his small frame finding it harder to maneuver through the swarms of people and his vantage point making it harder to spot Sebastian ahead of him. "Sebastian, wait!" he cried out again, apologizes flying constantly from his mouth to different patrons as he desperately raced to keep pace with the taller boy.
Sebastian couldn't focus on anything but getting out of there, of forcing his way out the the stifling crowd. Once he was on the street he paused, looking around desperately before quickly moving towards the first patch of green he saw, needing to get away from the people around him. He could vaguely hear Blaine's voice in the background, but the sound of his heartbeat and the panic rising in his chest. Sebastian slowly worked his way through the crowd, not caring if he jostled someone or if he was getting strange looks for straining to get through the crowd so quickly. He made it through to the green space, one of New York's many parks. With his breaths getting quicker and quicker he made his way to a tree, stretching out a shaking hand to steady himself against the trunk. He'd fucked up, he'd been so stupid. How could he have thought that this was a good idea? It was idiocy, hubris, insanity to think that he could be at a Pride Parade when he wasn't even out at work. When he'd been hired his father had taken him aside and instructed him to keep his sexuality out of the work place, and he'd obeyed. He'd kept his life perfectly compartmentalized, but now that Simmons knew, there was no telling who he would share this new information with at the office.
Blaine was frantic as he pushed through the crowd, murmuring an endless string of "Excuse Me's" and "Pardon Me's" as he chased after the other boy. When he finally made his way out of the bar he pushed himself up onto his tip toes, tipping his sunglasses up onto his head to better peer over the crowd before spotting Sebastian's head above the rest and quickly trailing after him. "Sebastian!" he called out again, "Sebastian wait!" he tried once more, his voice breaking without the slightest bit of acknowledgement from the other boy as they both made their way toward a empty section of the nearby park. Once there, Blaine kept his distance, watching the way Sebastian moved, the way he gripped to the tree trunk as though it was the only thing keeping him steady. "Sebastian..." he murmured, his voice softer as he took a few steps closer, not wanting to spook the boy and make him run again.
Sebastian staggered closer to the tree, his legs giving out as he sat down on the grass, his back against the tree. He closed his eyes, trying to focus his breathing, but his hands were shaking and all he could think about was how he was going to be fired on Monday. The second his dad found out that he'd been outed, he'd be gone and his family would never speak to him again. He heard his name faintly through the haze of his panic and his opened his eyes, looking over at the source. Blaine, of course. He sucked in a deep breath, trying to take in enough breath to speak. "I let him down." He said, fisting his hand in his hair, pulling slightly. "He asked me to do one thing and I couldn't even..." He trailed off, looking down at his knees, his face twisted in pain.
Blaine caught Sebastian's words, taking careful and slow steps around him until he was standing in front of him and for once looking down at him. "Sebastian..." he murmured, his voice soft and sympathetic as he tried to understand the panic and despair in the other boy's voice during what was suppose to be a day of celebration. "Hey... hey..." he insisted again softly, crouching down to a kneeling position and tipped his head to the side to try and make eye contact with the other boy. "Can you..." he murmured quietly, reaching up to tentatively touch Sebastian's hand, wanting him to release his hair, "Can you tell me who that was?" he asked, desperate to meet Sebastian's gaze.
Blaine shifted a bit closer when Sebastian did, wanting to give the boy anything and everything that he needed to relax and come out of his sudden spiral. Control over his own life had always been something Blaine had held dear to him, that no matter what threats or insults his Father had thrown his way Blaine knew that he was still the only one that was truly in charge of his life. No one else would ever be able to dictate how he lived. Of course, Blaine had counted their Fathers as a similarity between his and Sebastian’s upbringings; both business men, both tough and both stern but now, seeing the frantic panic in Sebastian’s eyes Blaine realized there were so many differences. Sebastian’s Father had a hold on the older boy in the way Blaine’s never had and as his eyes studied the boy’s face he couldn’t help the protective instinct that came over him. “Sebastian…” he murmured softly, bringing his other hand up to lightly tap the boy’s chin, forcing their eyes to meet, “I’ve seen you work, I’ve seen the way you spend night after night pouring over case files and documents…” he paused, noticing the tired lines at the corners of Sebastian’s eyes, “I’ve seen how much you give to that company, you…” he paused again, “You are smart and talented and you’re incredible at what you do. I see that… and he should too.”
Sebastian looked into Blaine's eyes when the other man tapped his chin, feeling the fear and panic begin the wane when he saw the serenity the other man was projecting. Blaine's words were comforting and Sebastian longed to believe him, to get swept up in the fantasy world he was creating. His sexuality had created a rift between himself and his father, and he'd hoped that working together could bridge the gap but now he was sure his efforts would be unsuccessful. He couldn't change who he was and neither could his father. At a loss, Sebastian looked down at their joined hands, absently noting the pleasing contrast between Blaine's tanned skin and his lighter shade. His eyes followed the line of Blaine's arm, to his chest, to his neck, and back up to his face, which was much closer than Sebastian had anticipated. He didn't know what to say after Blaine's kind words, but he knew that he needed to be closer to him, to be reminded that he was okay. Slowly, tentatively, he moved forward, his nose brushing against Blaine's as he carefully moved in to press their lips together, squeezing Blaine's hand.
Blaine consciously knew that Sebastian was moving closer, feeling his breath on his skin and their noses brushing against one another but at the same time he couldn't process that the closeness meant that they would kiss. 'It's just a hug' he told himself, convinced that at any given moment Sebastian would tip his head to the outside and they would share a sweet and soft embrace in a wordless thank you and understanding of the other. However, he then felt the slightest flicker of sparks and then the soft pressure against his lips and before he could understand or say a word Sebastian's lips were fully pressed to his own in a kiss that was warm and sweet and like nothing he had ever imagined. Easily, he returned the pressure, in some form of an attempt to express yet again how important Sebastian was or how much Blaine thought he was worth. Truthfully, it was a number that he didn't even fully understand. Still, as he moved his fingers, linking them as best he could with Sebastian he held the kiss hoping that if they just stayed there a bit longer perhaps Sebastian would understand that he was, truly, enough.
Sebastian didn't know how the kiss was making him feel better, but just the simple act of their lips touching filled him with a sense of calm that he hadn't experienced before. For the first time he was sure of exactly where he needed to be - right here, kissing Blaine gently. From his fingertips to his lips he felt absolutely at ease and he didn't want to pull away, especially after Blaine began to respond. He hadn't known that a kiss as simple as this could carry so much weight, but he could slowly feel his world shifting to focus on this, on them, instead of what his coworkers or his father might think. He had enough sense to pull away after a long moment, studying Blaine's face carefully. The kiss had clearly been a way for the younger man to comfort him, but he didn't want to read to much into it. It had been everything to him, but it might mean less to Blaine. "The parade will be starting soon." He murmured, the noise from the crowd suddenly flooding the background. "Thank you. For coming after me."
Blaine soon felt himself being pulled back into the real word, the heat returning to his cheeks, the breeze on his shoulders and the music playing every direction in his ears. Him and Sebastian were still in the park despite his sudden desire to be anywhere else as long as Sebastian was with him and as his eyes fluttered back open he allowed himself a moment to adjust to the light and convince himself that the other boy did not normally have a halo of light resembling an angel around his head and that it was merely the blinding sun. Still, as he stared at Sebastian he couldn't find the words to speak, perplexed and confused by the sensation that spread across his lips in a type of heat that was brought on by more than the hot June day. "You're right." he finally murmured, his lips tingling in a way that made it hard to speak as he pushed himself back slightly to put unwanted distance between himself and Sebastian. "And..." he paused, inhaling and exhaling a breath when his stomach flipped inside him, "You're enough. Okay? Just..." he trailed off, cutting his unprepared speech short, "You're welcome."
Sebastian ducked his head so Blaine wouldn't be able to see the smile or blush that had suddenly risen up on his cheeks. The words were still too much for him to ingest, but the sentiment behind them was comforting. He wanted to move closer to Blaine and kiss him again and again to hold onto this feeling, but he knew that it wasn't the right time. He'd been so upset and he had instigated the kiss, and for all he knew the other man had just gone along with it to make him feel better. It had worked, of course, but he didn't know the true emotion behind it. Sebastian pushing himself off the ground, brushing the dirt and grass off his shorts. He held out a hand to Blaine to help him up. "Thanks." He said again, his tone soft and almost in awe of how willing Blaine was to help him feel better. "Let's go find a spot to watch the parade. Maybe we'll run into the others, too."
Blaine nodded obediently to Sebastian's suggestion, still flustered by the tingling sensation that had spread to every nerve in his body and intensified at his lips. "Good..." he swallowed, coughing when he realized how dry his throat had become and took hod of the other boy's hand to pull himself upright. Quickly he followed in suit, brushing the blades of grass that had stuck to his knee caps and adjusted the straps of his backpack on his shoulders before looking up at Sebastian with a friendly smile. Nothing had changed between them, he insisted, and the kiss had been nothing but a way for Sebastian to seek comfort, Blaine told himself as he looked back at the other boy one more time. "That's a good idea." he added, running his tongue over his bottom lip in a fail attempt to dull the tingling sensation. "Here," he said, this time being the one to hold out his hand to the other, "Let's go."
Sebastian grinned, finally feeling better. He'd worry about the situation with Simmons on Monday - he didn't seem like the type of guy to spill someone else's secrets over the weekend. He took Blaine's hand confidently, glad that this was still and option after their kiss. He wasn't sure where the lines were anymore, but Blaine didn't seem to hold the kiss against him. He hadn't safe worded, after all, but Sebastian wasn't about to assume that this meant that Blaine felt the same way about him. He led them back to the street, pushing their way through the crowd, hands clasped tightly so they wouldn't get separated. Luckily there was a tiny pocket of space by one of the metal partitions and Sebastian led Blaine to it, wedging them between a cluster of drag queens and some bears. "How's this?" He asked, placing his hands on the metal so Blaine was bracketed between the barrier and his chest. "Okay?"
Blaine wedged himself into a small spot against the barricade of the parade route, smiling up at the crowd of other spectators that quickly filled the space around him. The streets were alive, full of excitement and energy in a way that was unmatched to any other celebration in the city and as Blaine's eyes scanned the passing floats, the waving flags and the cheering crowds he found himself quickly lost until finally a pair of arms found their way around either side of him with Sebastian's voice bringing him back to earth. "This is..." he looked over his shoulder, smiling widely up at Sebastian, "Perfect, this is perfect!" he exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement as the crowd erupted into another cheer.
Sebastian removed his hands from the barrier in order to slip the backpack from Blaine's shoulders, reaching around to place it between his legs and the partition where it would be safe. After the backpack was removed he pressed a bit closer, boxing the shorter man in again. "It is, isn't it?" He said, craning his head to see if the parade was coming. Judging from the roar of the crowd it was close, and he glanced back down at Blaine. "I don't see it yet, but hopefully it'll be here soon." He said in Blaine's ear, pressing close so Blaine would be able to hear him over the crowd.
Blaine rolled his shoulders when Sebastian tugged on his bag, convinced that Sebastian must need one of the many supplies he had neatly packed inside it. However, just as he was about to turn his head, his mouth open ready to tell the boy the location of his sunscreen, water bottle or celebratory rainbow flag he felt the straps slip off his shoulders and he watched as Sebastian set the backpack at his feet. "It is." he murmured with a half impressed, half surprised smile as the other boy's chest pressed into his back and his hands found their way to either side of him once more. His eyes flicked to the large faced clock on one of the large office buildings nearby, it was ten minutes until three and Sebastian was right, is voice tingling against his ear, "Any minute now." he replied, turning his head back towards Sebastian to be better heard.
Sebastian could feel the exhaustion from his whirlwind of emotions begin to settle in his shoulders, but his excitement for the rest of the parade outweighed it. He was here with Blaine, and the other man's presence helped him keep calm even after the shock to his system. The crowd's excitement was palatable and he knew that today would be a good day, even though they'd gotten separated from the group and he'd been outed to a coworker. "You're going to have to flash someone to get the beaded necklaces, right?" He tasked, voice teasing and light. Blane was so close to him and the temptation to wrap his arms around his narrow waist or press a kiss to the back of his neck was so strong, but he knew he needed to hold off.
Everyone gets beads here." he laughed, turning his attention back to the parade.
Sebastian 's eyes flickered between Blaine's mischievous grin and the skin he was revealing, unable to censor his reaction. "Exactly like that." He said, his voice low and teasing. His expression shifted to an uncharacteristic pout when the fabric shifted back into place, lingering for a moment before he snapped into action. He quickly spun Blaine around, moving in so the shorter man's back was pressed up against the partition, leaning forward so the loose fabric of his tank top fell forward, giving Blaine the ability to look all the way down his shirt. "I think we should amend the rules." He said. "And what's so special about Tuesdays, anyway?"
Blaine yelped as Sebastian spun him, the display erupting cheers and whistles from their fellow spectators that crowded the parade line with them. For a moment Blaine forgot himself for a moment, his eyes sliding down to take a curious glimpse at the boy's suddenly exposed chest, tone and smooth just the way he had imagine it would be. However, quickly he composed himself, catching the other boy's words. "Mardi Gras, you know, the celebration in New Orleans?" He asked with a small, yet playful, smile.
Blaine swallowed hard when the accented language came smoothly from Sebastian's mouth and he offered a small shrug and sheepish smile finding its' way to his lips as the other boy's remains focused on his own. "I... I don't know." He giggled finally, half as a response to the part of the sentence that he had grasped and half to the part he didn't quite grasp. Just as he was about to ask for a translation a loud horn sounded, muffling Sebastian's words and before he knew it he was being spun back around by Sebastian's hands as his own reached down to rest on top of them to keep them in place.
Sebastian grinned when he saw Blaine's expression when he spoke French, knowing how much the other man appreciated his 'European side.' He was more than happy to accommodate him, and he was about to keep speaking just to see what kind of reaction he could garner when the horn sounded. He moved Blaine around, ducking his head in a private grin when the shorter man trapped him by covering his hands. The parade began to roll around the corner and the crowd erupted in a cheer. Sebastian joined them, a grin appearing on his face. He was caught up in the excitement, the stress of the day fading away as he looked around, feeling a sense of peace wash over him. He was surrounded by an entire city of people who accepted him, with the perfect man literally in his arms.
Blaine 's eyes were wide, his heart open and his smile bright as he watched the spectacle in front of him. Each float that passed them by was more colourful than the last and Blaine found himself lost in the display. However, despite their colours and signs all the floats had one thing in common which was loud, blasting, ear thumping music. A rhythm that was so intoxicating that it was with ease that Blaine felt his hips start to move to the beat, glancing over his shoulder at Sebastian with a smile.
Sebastian 's attention shifted away from the parade only when he felt Blaine begin to move against him, the tantalizing movements of his hips impossible to ignore. "Someone's having a good time." He said lowly, glancing down at the shorter man. Sebastian wanted to pull Blaine close and dance with him in public like they had at the club, but after the kiss they had shared he was worried about taking it too far. They were both clearly in tune with the more casual touches their relationship had taken on and Sebastian wasn't sure he could actually ever stop flirting entirely, but he knew that what he had with Blaine was precious - he wanted to protect it, not take advantage when they were surrounded by people. He kept his posture casual, but put an inch more of space between himself and Blaine. "Is that Laverne Cox?" He asked suddenly, shifting his attention to the car passing by. Blaine must have jumped half his height when Sebastian pointed out the beautiful woman that was waving to the crowd, perched on the back seat of a slow driving red convertible. "You're gorgeous!" he called out when the crowd momentarily fell quiet, the sudden outburst catching the attention of the star as she gave a wave in their direction. "Did you see that!?" Blaine squealed, bouncing in Sebastian's arms as his head moved from the crowd and back to Sebastian, a childish grin on his lips, "She waved! She waved at us!" he laughed, unable to contain his excitement or how happy he was to be with the other boy. Sebastian laughed when Blaine came alive at the sight of the star, cheering along with the crowd when the car rolled by. He had just paused to catch his breath when Blaine called out and Laverne waved at them, clearly charmed by the compliment. Sebastian immediately waved back, a huge grin splitting his face as Blaine began to freak out. Without thinking he wrapped his arms around Blaine in a triumphant hug, making sure he kept them steady so they didn't bump into anyone around them. "Only because you got her attention!" He said, pulling back just enough to catch a glimpse of the next float out of the corner of his eye. He deftly caught a string of beads that was thrown at the crowd, placing it around Blaine's neck while they were still face to face.
Blaine giggled as Sebastian placed the beads around his neck, smiling up at him as the music and crowd continued to cheer around them. "Does this mean I have to flash you?" he asked with a playful twinkle in eye before he turned back around just in time for a float rider with a water gun sprayed his weapon hitting Blaine straight in the chest which onto erupted another loud and carefree laugh from the boy's chest. "Please tell me you're having fun!" he giggled, glancing over his shoulder to look at Sebastian.
Sebastian nodded, managing to school his features into a serious expression. "Yes, yes you do." He replied, about to continue with some fake legal jargon when Blaine turned and proceeded to be shot with a water gun. "A wet t-shirt contest will have to suffice." Sebastian replied smoothly, wiping a bit of splashed water off his brow. He nodded, laughing along with Blaine - his laugh was infectious, after all, and Sebastian gave a full nod. "I really am." He said, smiling down at Blaine before turning his attention back to the parade. The rest of the afternoon passed in a similar fashion, with each of them spouting commentary as Sebastian caught beaded necklaces and placed them around Blaine's neck one by one, their skin always touching or at least brushing together. When the last float passed by Sebastian bent to pick up Blaine's backpack. "We should head back. I'm a host of this party, after all."
Blaine 's heart was full by the time the last float rolled past their post. He felt alive, inspired and most of all proud to be part of such a vibrant community and as he turned to face Sebastian he couldn't help the wide smile that came across his face. "Thank you." He said, taking his backpack from the boy and situated it back onto either of his shoulders before stepping away from the barrier and reaching for Sebastian's hand, "And who knows what might happen if we left the party in the hands of Rachel Berry for too long." He giggled, setting an ease walking pace for them.
Sebastian returned Blaine's bright smile, unable to keep up his usual expression of overall disdain on such a happy day. "You're welcome." He replied, taking Blaine's hand once it was offered, already accustomed to the comfortable weight in his hand. He pulled the other man through the crowd, searching for the most efficient path back to the apartment even though they were going at Blaine's easy pace. "I'm just glad that it's in her apartment, not mine. Can you imagine what she'd do to my place?" Sebastian pulled a face, imagining his clean, open space cluttered with pink streamers and balloons. "It would be a nightmare."
Blaine laughed loudly, throwing his head back at the thought of Rachel Berry having free range to Sebastian's simplistic and stylish apartment and the redecorating she might take upon herself to orchestrate in preparation for the Pride festivities. "Rainbows everywhere." he insisted, holding his free hand up and waving it across their eyes as though to symbolize some sort of banner that Rachel might hang. "The more rainbows the better I think." he giggled, allowing Sebastian to pull him through the crowded streets, "And definitely a glitter station." he teased, nudging Sebastian with the arm closest to him, "You know, something that would definitely get on every surface in your entire apartment. Now that would be a Rachel Berry Pride Party."
Sebastian shook his head, trying not to smile but unable to. The image of Rachel redecorating his apartment, talking a mile a minute as she did so, was more disturbing than funny, but seeing Blaine laugh so brightly made him happy too, for a reason he couldn't quite place. "A glitter station? That's the gayest thing you've ever said." He teased, bumping their shoulders together as they walked through the crowd. He guided them around a cluster of loud friends, carefully ensuring that they cleared the group. "That sounds absolutely horrifying. I like it clean - borderline spartan." He said, only half joking. "Plus, glitter and alcohol is a terrible combination."
Blaine laughed again, his cheeks stretched and aching as they continued walking without too much insistence on when exactly they arrived back at the apartment building. "You know what they say, " Blaine began with a playful shrug of his shoulders, "When at Pride...." he trailed off, his words easily referenced to the saying 'when in rome', before flashing Sebastian a playful smile and another nudge. "Okay fine, then what does go well with alcohol?" he asked, a dangerous smirk on his lips as he looked up at the other boy, surprising himself with how easily it was for him to tease the other boy.
Sebastian laughed, once again charmed by Blaine's sense of humor and infectious laugh. "So many things, Blaine. So many." He said, almost disappointed to find them back at their apartment. He was excited for the party, yes, but having Blaine alone and being able to spend time with him one on one was a treat Sebastian was beginning to hope for at the start of every morning. Today's events had just solidified his desire to spend more time with the younger man, who could clearly handle him at his best and at his worst. He led them up the steps, holding open the door for Blaine. "I can show you at the party - Rachel's promised quite a spread."

Quinn: How are things in the state of denial? Lovely weather this time of year I hear.
Blaine: You know it's a tad colder than I'm used to but I'm still quite content.

Seb: When are you free? Same plan as last time - grab groceries, cook, and eat. I promise not to burn anything.
Blaine: Okay, but only if you come with me to the grocery store this time. I'm not letting you out of my sight.
Blaine: That way if there's another blackout we will simply have a picnic. Deal?

Seb: What I think doesn't really matter.
Blaine: Fine. How soon is sooner?
