        sophia was shaken to say the least. who was that man?? she didn’t remember meeting anyone named wes when she talked to the other guests. but that still didn’t complete the equation of what just happened to her. sophia was hesitant to run inside the manor because she was unsure if something would chase her. logically she knew that nothing would chase her but she just couldn’t shake the idea of something behind her. once she was in the manor she quickly made her way through the large rooms & luxurious decor. sophia went to the first person she could find. she was pale, lips dry & her heart pounding. “i – i – do you, do you, i saw dead people, i swear to fucking god.” her words came out quickly, brooklyn accent thick against her tongue, using volume rather than her sounding overly pitchy. without realizing it her hands were grasping the other’s lower shoulders. “do you understand what i’m sayin’??”

Justice was hoping to find someone to talk to about what they saw on their laptop, and also about Toni’s texts. It was an eerie coincidence for Toni to inform them of the bad service after their computer had been corrupted by a demon (that’s one way to put it), and there was definitely something unusual going on. When the other approached them while looking distressed, it only added to the mix of confusion, anxiety, and fear that Justice was beginning to feel. They knew this wasn’t going to be some friendly introduction to her – something was about to happen, and Justice didn’t know if they were ready to face the truth just yet. When she mentioned seeing dead people and placed her hands on them, their eyes widened and they nodded, “Y-Yes, I understand, and I believe you,” they breathed, “What happened? Where did you see the dead people?”

madison was in a tizzy. sure, when she got there she had a sneaking suspicion everything was not what it seemed and now that she’d seen a bonafide ghost with her own two eyes, she knew she was right. speed-walking through the halls, the blonde was looking for someone, anyone, to talk to. “hey!” she called out at the sight of another figure before freezing and wondering if they were actually there or were just another phantom that wandered these halls. “are you -” she started, hardly giving them time to answer before reaching out and touching their arm. “you are! okay, i know this might see a little strange….but there are ghosts here. actual, living, breathing ghosts. okay, wait…no, not living and breathing but you get it. did you see them?”

Justice needed to find someone after what they just witnessed on their laptop. They left it in the living room, not wanting to look at it after the corruption that had just taken place on its screen. They paced back and forth in a nearby hallway, rubbing their face in their hands and pondering what they should do. Justice wanted to tell someone, but they couldn’t even comprehend themselves what just happened.

Upon hearing a familiar voice, they sighed of relief. “Oh, thank god–” Justice was about to tell Madison what they’d just experienced, especially since they knew she would believe them and actually listen, however their demeanor changed from relieved to confused (and honestly quite nervous) when the word ghosts escaped her lips. “Are you serious? Ghosts? Wow, this place is sure living up to its aesthetic..” they chuckled nervously, “I didn’t see any ghosts, but I’m assuming what I just saw on my laptop is connected to them?”

“i believe you. it must’ve been the ghosts,” zara replies cheekily, winking at the other. she walks over to the pile of vinyls and selects one on the top. “huh. pink floyd. wasn’t expecting that,” she states with a soft chuckle. 

hoisting herself on top of the desk in the middle of the room, zara looks at justice thoughtfully. “so,” she begins. “what drew you to come in here?” then, a beat. “also, where have you been? it’s been too long, ju.”

They chuckled, “Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were spirits possessing these things, honestly.” Justice looked down and was surprised to see Zara point out pink floyd in the mess of vinyl they’d just created. “Oh, shit – we gotta play this one.” Justice grabbed the record before taking it out of its sleeve and placing it onto the player. 

After placing the needle onto the record, they turned around to look at the other. “I was just intrigued by all the stuff in here,” Justice looked around the room, “It looks like a collectors room – like everything in here has some sort of meaning or significance to them.” They looked back at Zara, before walking over and sitting on the desk beside her. “I know, I know. My life’s been kinda weird and... confusing since my mom died – Also stressful, since my brother and sister hate each other and now I have to be in the middle of it when we’re supposed to be here for closure and to mourn – whatever that means.” They let out a frustrated sigh, mentally cursing themselves for oversharing, “Sorry, that was a lot to lay on you. You don’t have to say anything. What have you been up to these days?” Justice looked at Zara with an awkward smile.

       NATALIA   HAD   BEEN   EXPLORING   THE   manor  for  what  felt  like                                  hours  ;  she  enjoyed  being  able  to  look  around  without  being  inter-        -rupted  by  the  staff  asking  how  she  was  &  if  they  could  get  her        anything.  it  was  only  when  she  stumbled  upon  a  room  that  reminded        her  of  a  library.  it  was  …  beautiful.  her  eyes  wandered  around,       unsure  of  what  they  wanted  to  look  at  first.  &  suddenly,  nat  is        startled  by  a  loud  noise.  her  heart  pounds  &  she’s  hesitant  to  check       it  out  at  first  —  thinking  she  was  alone  in  the  room.  but  thankfully,       the  sound  was  caused  by  another  person  ;  another  guest ,  the  girl       could  only  assume.  she  giggles.

      “  i think you’d probably get kicked out if you did this on purpose. ”  nat        says. “ because by the sounds of those rules – whoever owns this place        doesn’t take shit disturbers very well. ”  the  brunette  smiles  softly  before        crouching  down  to  help  the  stranger  pick  up  the  scattered  records.        she  hums,  examining  one.  “  so you’re saying groovy country music        isn’t your thing? ”  natalia  lifts  the  record  &  shows  the  other  the  badly        drawn  art  drawn  on  it.  she  feels  bad  but  she  can’t  help  but  laugh.        “ this room is really cool though, huh ? i wonder why  they  keep  all  of  this         …  junk. ”  –  or ,  what  seemed  like  junk.

“Oh, I know – lights out by 11:30? What’s up with that?” Justice grinned while glancing over at the record the girl pointed out, “Well, if its groovy maybe I’ll give it a listen.” Justice piled up the records neatly, before taking their stack and putting it back up on the shelf. “Yeah, it’s awesome. I wonder if it all belongs to the owner? Honestly, some of this stuff seems to be valuable – I can’t believe this room wasn’t off limits.” Then again, although weird, it was nice to not have staff around to tell them what to do especially with the strict rules they placed. “So, where are you from?” Justice sat down beside her.

if elijah hadn’t an iron grip on his mug , he might’ve dropped it in surprise . a shy smile crossed his face for a moment .   it was weird , right ? they spent years talking and now they were in the same place and they were just — there . and not , like — 5000 KILOMETRES away .    “    i — wait here a minute .   ”he quickly ran inside , tossing the mug into the dishwasher and rinsing off his hands .   skidding back onto the patio , elijah pulled the french doors shut behind him .  he gestured around with his hands wildly , as if to say ‘ what ?! ’ 

god , it should be illegal to have as much energy as he did in the mornings .   he lowered his tone , conspiratorially .     “    ok , this is gonna sound absolutely bonkers BUT —    ”    he brought his hands together in a praying mantis position .  “   i haven’t even told chase yet .   have i told you about him ?   he’s my best friend .   oh , lucy and i broke up , long story .   ”     he quickly took a DEEP breath , once he got going — he really was hard to stop .   “   okay , i’m not — i dreamt about this place , like , before i came .   ”

They laughed at Elijah as he went back inside for a moment. It was crazy, in a good way, to see their friend who they’d talked to over a screen finally in person – and that even though the pair facetimed before, he wasn’t some weird creep who happened to be skilled in CGI. “Whats up with you, dude?” Justice asked amused when he came back. “Of course you told me about Chase, you’ve been friends with him for a while – Wait, did something happen? And I’m sorry about Lucy, are you okay?” Elijah was talking insanely fast, and throwing multiple bits of information – both new and confusing, at them all at once. Once he mentioned a dream, though, Justice’s eyes widened. Was it a coincidence? What was happening with this place? First their sister had a dream, and now Elijah too. “Really, you too?” They sighed, “So did I.. and my sister. Let’s just say, they both weren’t pleasant – Maybe yours is?” Justice asked, partially joking but with a sliver of hope behind their question. This couldn’t mean anything, right?

“that is me!” madison grinned widely with a shake of her head. “no worries. honestly, i’m a little surprised it didn’t happen earlier but i love it.” the woman loved finding people who watched her channel, that was the point of it. she wanted to connect with people who had the same interests and sometimes it sucked she couldn’t meet them all. “i was hired to help with the rep of this place. make it seem like a destination everyone wants to come to. though, between us, i think it’s pretty sick already but i get why they might be having trouble getting people here.”

Justice could see why someone would hire her to help promote the manor to seem as though it was some sort of trendy vacation spot – Madison had a big following on YouTube and seemed to make even the creepiest of things look interesting. “Oh, yeah,” they laughed, “I’m diggin’ the aesthetic of this place, but I can’t say other people would think the same.” They thought the overall aesthetic of the manor was, as Madison said, sick. The only thing throwing them for a loop was that nightmare they still couldn’t shake. “What are some of your ideas for promotion? Have you seen the indoor pool? Now that could be a good selling point.”

turning to face justice, she raised an eyebrow and retorted, “ oh, i’m still disappointed. if they can have… ” she paused, shuffling through the records until she found one she was familiar with. “ if they can have fucking buddy holly, they can have have the masters of music. ” the backstreet boys were clearly superior. as she began to restock said buddy holly record, she tilted her head to the side ( as if that would help her find the words ). “ it’s just too perfectly gothic, you know ? ” guillermo del toro’s wet dream. pointing a finger as justice elaborated ( and subsequently dropping one of the records – way to go, zero ), she could still see the woman’s bloody face. “ i did, too – and why is that ? why did we both have a dream - if you could call it that - about a place that we’d never been ? ” realizing she was about to release a stream of consciousness upon justice… she just had to. “ i mean, yes, the few pictures available of the manor could possibly account for the setting, the timing account for why we had it when we did, but the subject matter ? and both having one on the same night ? what’s the likelihood ? ”

Justice pondered their sisters reasons for the manor’s alive feeling, and not only that – the reason for their similar, eerie dreams. “Yeah.. I mean, that is really weird...” They trailed off. Of course it could’ve been a coincidence, but the manor looked identical to their dream, and on top of that, the house felt... off. No, not because it looked like some gigantic, creepy mansion to have come straight out of the twilight zone – However, it did feel like they were currently in that universe – but there was no staff, they weren’t allowed in the basement, and the dream was the icing on the cake. “I wonder why we aren’t allowed in the basement,” Justice said curiously, “ But, anyway – what exactly happened in your dream?”

adrian had been far too busy to tour the manor ! why, she had so much to do ! she’d had to… well, she’d yet to unpack… that was something she would have to do ! and, oh, all she’d done leading up to this moment ! oh, how she’d… she’d secluded herself for some hours outside in an attempt to avoid her brother and not have to face the heartbeat of the manor after checking in… yes, she had been oh so busy ! it was entirely possible she would not have even gone back inside until 11:30pm, but there was a certain pull. she would not be able to explain it if she was asked exactly what said pulling was… it just was. perhaps it was the sense that her preferred sibling was now doing… something, perhaps it was just the manor. nonetheless, there was a pull.

actually, perhaps it was the former, what given that, almost as soon as she had walked in, she’d heard a rather loud thud followed by a familiar voice. walking towards it and catching justice at attention, what in spite of the records that surrounded them, it took a minute… yes, it took a minute for the entire visual to sink in. how long had the two been there ? when it did sink in in its entirety, oh, how she couldn’t help but let out a slight laugh ! for, again, how long had they been there ? “ i’ll give you that, actually. ” looking down at the records that lay in a… mess by justice, she continued, “ i don’t see the backstreet boys anywhere down there. ” ( back when she was 13 and still thought she was straight – oh, how she… pretended to adore aj mclean ) kneeling over to begin cleaning up the mess, shifting into a more serious tone, she asked, “ is it just me, or does the manor seem… alive ? ”

Justice let out a laugh, shaking their head as they helped their sister clean up their mess, “Yeah, your younger self would be so disappointed.” They joked, while stacking the records in a pile to put back onto the shelf. At their sisters comment, Justice looked at her and stopped arranging the vinyls. “Alive?” They repeated her question, “How so?” Justice hadn’t experienced anything to out of the ordinary, at least not yet, except their vivid nightmare. The person saying my house repeating over and over in their head. “I did.. have a weird dream before coming here, about the manor. I’m sure it doesn’t mean anything, though.”

“ oh no , no . it needs to be visible ,” regina instructed , moving SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT , towards the entrance of the manor so justice could get a picture she could actually post . they’d asked her to come down for hype , anyway , so if she didn’t do a good job of that , there was no point in her being there in the first place . 

after taking her phone back from them , she made work of quickly scrolling through the pictures and hey , what do you know ! they were actually pretty good save for one or two !

“ these work ! ” she let out , eyes still fixed on her screen for a few seconds more before it finally hit her she hadn’t even taken a GOOD LOOK at the person who had been kind enough to help her out before it was impossible to make any good content at all . ah shit – “ hey, thanks for this . ” she nodded , demeanor a lot softer and less … abrasive in general – she did have a tendency to go in that direction without noticing .

“ listen, ” she started , reckoning it’d be weird to just walk away from them after the pretty odd exchange . “ i promised my followers i’d go live as soon as i was settled here … maybe you’d like to tag along ? i can totally tag you in the video – here i’ll follow you what’s your @ ? actually , what’s your name ? ” she laughed a little but it was at herself and the fact in that exact moment she realized she probably would have walked away without asking and not thought about it for a second after that .

Justice couldn’t believe this was happening in front of them, it almost didn’t feel real for someone to be so invested in their social media. However, they were thankful the girl was at least nice about it and not a complete snob. “No problem, I’m glad you.. like them.” They let out an awkward laugh. Justice was about to walk away, but they were stalled yet again. “Don’t worry about tagging me, I don’t really care about that stuff, but I can hang for a bit, I guess.” They shrugged before pulling out their phone and showing her their instagram profile, “There I am – bet you think my feed could use some work, right?” Justice chuckled.

Blair wasn’t the type to be bold and out there, but something about the brunette’s energy felt softer than most, which strangely made her feel comfortable with them. She stepped closer towards them as they spoke, a smile painted across her face. “You’re cute you know,” the first words out of her mouth surprised her, but it was the first thing she thought, “I’m Blair, and honestly? Coffee sounds heavenly, I’m down to search for it if you are.” It might’ve been an excuse to get to know them and find out exactly why she was so intrigued with someone she barely knew, but the mention of coffee had her hooked. 

Justice laughed nervously, their cheeks turning red at the mention of being cute. Blair seemed kind, and confident – they already admired her. “Well, I guess we better start looking before we turn into caffeine deprived zombies.” They laughed, “I honestly have no idea where to look, I haven’t gotten to look around much – obviously.” Justice began walking with Blair alongside them. They figured their had to be a kitchen or dining area somewhere around where they were. “So, where are you from, Blair?” They looked at her while continuing to walk.

The battery on her phone had died and, as usual, she couldn’t find hers. Options were clear: either walking around door to door asking if anyone could lend her one or try to find other sources of entertainment… And nothing seemed funner than walking around. It was mostly quiet, and there was a certain quality in the manor that made her feel… inspired? Maybe. Anyway, it seemed almost like she was floating, and she managed to reach the room without realizing it.

Rory noticed the other’s presence long before they noticed her. They seemed so absorbed in the surroundings, she refused to interrupt. ‘Cute,’ the girl thought to herself. She’d begun to walk away when she heard a loud sound that made her return rather quickly. A small laugh would lighten up her face once she heard the brunette’s words. “Are you okay?” she didn’t wait for a reply before coming closer and helping them out. “You know, if anyone asks you can always blame it on the ghosts.” She winked, a giggle coming soon after. 

"Oh yeah, I’m fine,” they replied, subtly avoiding eye contact with the girl due to embarrassment, “I think the real question is – are these records fine, and if they’re not how much am I gonna have to pay to replace them all?” Justice let out a laugh as they bent back down to pick up the records. They took a better look at the girl and couldn’t help but smile. She was cute, a lot shorter than them, and the giggle she let out had to be the sweetest sound Justice ever heard. “Hey, no one mentioned anything about ghosts – we can be a little optimistic.” they chuckled as they stood back up and set the records down on a nearby chair, “Let me take those from you.” They grinned while taking the pile of records she picked up and placing them on top of the ones they set down. Justice then took the shelf that fell and quickly slid it back into place. “I’m Justice, by the way.” They turned back to look at her, before walking closer and extending their hand, “It’s nice to meet you.”

“those would be the easiest ones to crush up, the liquid ones wouldn’t really produce that much powder.” madison laughed in agreement. leaning against the stair railing, her eyes paused over particularly creepy, victorian style decor before landing on the other. “i love weird stuff and i put paranormal and ghosts under that very wide umbrella. and i guess i like creepier stuff more than others and certainly more than people assume i would.” she waved a hand over herself, “i don’t really seem the type, do i?”

Justice looked at her as she talked, and once she expressed her admiration of the paranormal, it clicked. They used to watch Madison on YouTube. “Wait a minute, of course you do,” Justice paused for a moment, “You’re on youtube! Sorry if that’s weird I’m pointing it out so soon.. and if you’re not who I’m thinking of then I’m so sorry,” They apologized. Justice was surprised to see a widely known youtuber had been in the same manor as them, but if she was really Madison it would have made sense. “So what brings you here then? A new series on your channel or something?”

Justice found themselves wandering around the manor until a particular room caught their eye – A study of some sorts, with shelves upon shelves filled with books and some with antiques including small statues and trinkets that looked like they’d been decades old, perhaps even more. A record player with a massive collection of vinyl also stood out in the room. Its atmosphere was peaceful and quaint, yet eerie at the same time – As though Justice shouldn’t have been in there. 

They walked around the room while examining the objects in awe. Justice hadn’t been much of a collector, but the things were showcased in such a beautiful, yet mysterious way. Who did all of this belong to? What was the purpose of keeping it all in the room? Justice then ran their hands along the array of vinyl. Of the ones they pulled out, it had either been artists they hadn’t recognized, or older musicians such as Billie Holiday and Buddy Holly. With their curiosity getting the best of them, Justice decided to take out a random vinyl and give it a listen. Once taking it off the shelf, it suddenly collapsed and a bunch of records fell onto the floor, creating a loud THUD. “Shit,” Justice muttered under their breath before bending down and trying to clean the mess as fast as they could before someone heard. To their dismay, they heard footsteps approaching and they stood back up, face turning red with embarrassment upon seeing the person standing in the doorway. “I totally didn’t do that,” they scoffed, “Okay, maybe I did, but not on purpose – Although I should’ve. Whoever these belong to has a shitty record collection.”

REGINA –

HAD BEEN WAITING for this trip for what felt like ages , so to say she was EXCITED as she pulled her suitcase ( s ) out of the trunk of her car was an understatement . she was one of the last to arrive , late in the afternoon . “ AT LEAST i didn’t miss the golden hour … ” she whispered quietly as she allowed herself a few seconds to stand in front of the imposing manor to really take it in .

as she marveled at the exterior , A CHILL ran down her spine . there was something about it she couldn’t quite place … but you know she would ignore that , the golden hour is not really A WHOLE HOUR anyway so why waste time thinking about out-of-body experiences ? she looked around herself , trying to find a charitable soul that would be willing to help her take advantage of the sight and conditions . A STAR OF HER CALIBER is always on the clock , after all .

“ oh thank god , i thought i’d miss it , HEY – ” she spoke , loud enough to catch the attention of the ONE PERSON around . “ would you mind helping me take a picture real quick for my feed ? ” under THE STRESS of thinking she was running out of time to get the right picture , she forgot her manners – it happens more often than you’d think to a DITZY GIRL – after handing them her most precious possesion , HER BELOVED PHONE , she immediately started posing . “ oh yeah , make sure to angle it so you can use the sun in it . ”

Justice walked down towards the front entrance of the manor, expecting their older sibling’s arrival. Instead, however, they were met with a loud and demanding “Hey!”. Figuring they shouldn’t start on bad terms with anyone, Justice looked at the girl and began to walk towards her. They let out an amused laugh, “Seriously?” She already looked like the type to be so self-absorbed and in her own head, “Sure, I guess.” Justice gently took the phone from her, another laugh escaping their lips she posed almost instantly. “Why don’t you come up by the entrance more?” They suggested, “Or do you not want to let your followers know you whereabouts?” Justice took a few photos where the girl was originally posed, making sure to angle the camera to her liking.

madison’s mouth dropped open a little with wide eyes. “do people actually snort advil? oh god, i’d be scared to do that.” rich, coming from her, since she didn’t have a problem snorting pretty much anything else. with a soft laugh, she tucked her phone away. she’d honestly forgot some people were paying to stay here, a horrible habit since she and her friends hardly paid for much anymore. they were invited to make it seem like the next ‘destination vacation’. “good point. you shouldn’t have to follow these rules at all.” madison joked, looking around at the decor around them. “it is quite creepy, isn’t it?” leaning in towards the other a little, she smirked. “is it bad that i love it?”

Justice laughed at her curiosity regarding advil, “I’m sure there’s some people that do,” They shrugged, “Like the tablet kind.” They were already amused, and comfortable, with her – a familiar feeling still lingering from her presence. They followed her gaze around the room, admiring the decor before smiling and nodding their head, “I love it, too,” Justice looked at the girl, “I take it you like creepy stuff?” From her outward appearance, she hadn’t looked much like someone who would.

elijah had been quietly leaning on the garden patio’s railing for a while , now .   in his hands was a plain white cup of coffee , black .   despite it being about seven a.m. , he already seemed to be fully prepared for the day .   a crisp , freshly ironed white shirt hung from his shoulders ( purposefully large to add a touch of streetwear style ) , any sleep in his eyes had already been washed away , and the slightest hint of concealer masked any …   imperfections that would only be noticed by the very observant , or those that knew what to look for .

he’d always liked mornings , it was unfortunately common for most of the yanks to sleep in past ten , so the first few hours of the day were usually the most peaceful .   he was glad , in a way ; the unbloomed tulips — dripping with morning dew — were for his eyes only .   he’d seen them before , maybe on the CRENSHAW BROCHURE ???   no , that wasn’t it .   it was surprisingly unsettling , all he could think about were those same flowers — drenched in blood , and a girl ?   rowan .   dead .

elijah shook his head , trying to clear the gruesome images from his mind. quickly turning on his heel to leave ( he didn’t want to think about that awful dream anymore ) he startled, scalding coffee sloshing over the edge of the mug to the wooden deck . his gaze lifted , eyeing the new company . he hadn’t heard anyone come out — had they said anything ? god , he was out of it today . 

          “ sorry , i — weird morning .  are you alright ? did it get you ? ”

So much was on Justice’s mind to the point where things began to feel out of the ordinary. I mean, what was ordinary about having a nightmare about the manor you were going to, and having it look the exact same in real life? It didn’t help much that they were about to see their siblings who didn’t get along. With a new environment so big, Justice walked around to clear their head and explore. It wasn’t real, J, nothing’s wrong  – Stop it. Every corner they turned was met with an uneasy, anxious feeling in the pit of their stomach as though someone would jump out at them. Justice closed their eyes and took a deep breath, before walking out to a patio surrounded by a variety of flowers and plants – And a person? Justice wanted to turn away before the other could notice, but the loud splash of coffee spilling from their hand was enough to distract Justice from their anxieties. “Nah, I’m good don’t worry about it –” Then they met eyes with the other, and after studying his face for a moment a surprised scoff escaped Justice’s lips, “Elijah! Holy – I almost forgot you were here! Believe me.. I’ve had the weirdest morning, too.” The pair had become online friends, communicating for a few years now. Both having been in dark places once before, their friendship was just meant to be, and the fact they would coincidentally book trips to the same manor said it all. “So, what has Elijah’s weird morning entailed?”
