Eye contact is way more intimate than words will ever be. (2/∞)
theangeladriel:
Adriel frowned at the strange looking liquid inside of that man’s glass. “I have seen odd drinks served to many different kinds of people in my lifetime,” she commented, sitting in a stool while leaning against the bar, scanning the room, “but never something as peculiar as that… I’m surprised you even drank it.”
Justin smiled a friendly smile at the girl, who seemed oddly formal. “I kinda wish I hadn’t, it was really strong,” he laughed and motioned at the girl’s own glass. “What are you drinking?”
angelixwar:
His head tilted and he laughed with even more amusement. That giggle was so unexpected that it forced him to clear his throat and brush his fingers across his mouth so he could get the burn out of them from being stretched like he was an idiot. The drinks were a buffer for his emotions at the moment, the tinging in his fingers refusing to stop even as the glasses clinked together and he tossed his shot back. Alex could taste both the jello and the alcohol, proving to be a good mix at least for his first round of drinks if he wanted to start of slow. He cleared his throat and reached for another. “Where are you from, Justin? You’re not like a lot of people I’ve met.” For instance, he was human in a city of supernatural creatures.
Justin could feel the jello and the alcohol as it slipped down, causing a dull burning sensation. It was good, and it was fun. At least the first drink seemed to have gone down alright. When the conversation turned to him, he reached for a second shot, downing it without hesitation. “I grew up near Charlottesville, kinda near that town that was destroyed a while back, Mystic Falls? We didn’t live in the town, we were just one town over but it was still pretty insane to think of the whole town being turned to smoke,” he shuddered at the thought and then smiled sweetly in response to the second part of Alex’s words. “You seem different to anyone I’ve met before too, at least anyone I’ve met in reality.” He chuckled. Even then, the guys he’d met in his dreams had nothing on Alex. “What about you? You’re New York born and bred?”
angelixwar:
“That’s cute.” There was definitely something about Justin that had drawn Alex to him and now? It was the fact that Alex knew he was attracted to him – the goofy, the truth spilling secrets and all – that kept him there. His lips curled slowly with amusement. Out of all of the things, Justin was sweet and that was almost enough to catch his attention. The angel and human halfling was awkward as well, flirting here and there as best as he could… Or so he thought. “Alright then. Drinks.” Alex declared as he turned to the bar and waved someone besides Penny down. While he had an idea of what to order for Justin, he asked the bartender for help and the finished order? Jello shots and a few others for the two to try. Turning back to Justin, he handed him one. “We might become alcoholics after this but hey, at least it won’t taste like acid.”
No, he did not just giggle when Alex called him cute. Okay, maybe he did but even so, he couldn’t help it. As he turned to order the drinks, Justin took full advantage of the opportunity to properly take in the guy’s features. He was stunning. Honestly, like something you would see carved from marble in an ancient temple. He had this amazing sun-kissed hair, which was brushed back to show his chiseled features. From the side, he could easily pass as a more beautiful James Dean. When the drinks arrived, he took it from Alex, allowing their fingers to brush briefly. “To becoming alcoholics,” he laughed and held up the shot glass, tapping it with Alex’s and downing the drink. It was good, fruity but still with a slight tang that could only come from a spirit. “Oh wow...that was good.” He laughed.
angelixwar:
Perhaps Alex was different than most. He liked to watch the world, finding spots to do it. “I’m sure you could find a few in New Orleans. Just need a little mysticalism, really.” Something that would allow the magic to flow. Eighteen was perfect? He wasn’t really eighteen but it was an estimation he made, finding somewhere to fit into as far as age groups went. A brow rose as he looked at Justin, almost studying him for a moment before shrugging. “I don’t care if you’re gay. I’m not exactly all that straight myself.” he admitted, tilting his head. “Guess we’ve got two things in common.” By the time he said it, he realized what the emotion was. He liked Justin. Not just like. He was drawn to him for some reason. “Drinks?”
“Yeah, mysticalism isn’t really my style...but I was kinda obsessed with dragons when I was 10,” he had no idea why he’d just said that out loud. He waited impatiently for Alex’s reaction, his eyes practically shining when he said he didn’t care. Not only that, but he’d just said he wasn’t straight? This wasn’t happening. Like, no way in hell was this happening. “Guess so,” he smiled, feeling his cheeks burning a little. Now he knew his awkward bumbliness would be turned up to level 1000, and he’d blow every chance he had. There were definitely other things he’d prefer to blow. He smirked and gave a small laugh under his breath. “Yeah,” he nodded a short, simple nod, “Drinks sound good.”
angelixwar:
While he spent most of his life locked in a room before being trained to be a supernatural assassin, he had visited New York and actually sat on a bench to watch the world around him once. Just once would tell him that while the city had been home – or should’ve been home – he was needed elsewhere. “It’s pretty good. I have a spot in Central Park where I go to hide and watch the world. Just gotta know where to go.” he explained with a smile. Their hands disconnected and he found his hand falling to his side, heavy as if it were asleep now. Sometimes really didn’t like being a halfling. He wanted to be normal but normal wasn’t an actual thing. Alex moved closer to the counter before looking back at Justin. “Eighteen but I’m a little bit of a rebel myself. Why?” He wasn’t really eighteen, not really, but he had grown and matured faster than humans – and he would only mature even further as he aged. “Problem?”
“That sounds really nice, just a spot to watch the world go by. That sounds like something I’d do,” God, this guy was practically sent from Heaven. There didn’t seem to be a single thing wrong with him, so naturally, Justin was waiting for the big fat girlfriend bomb to be dropped. As Alex came closer to the counter, Justin could have sworn that his breath caught in his throat, heart racing a little faster. Shit this guy was having such an effect on him. “No, Eighteen is good. It’s kinda perfect actually,” He chuckled and shuffled awkwardly in his stool to face Alex better, studying his features. It was routine by now to make people aware, just so there was no complications, “Yo, I know it’s gonna sound a bit weird but you should probably know before you buy the shots that I’m gay...I know that some guys get a bit funny about it.”
angelixwar:
His head shook no. “I’m from New York which is funny because I used to say New York has more people but I might definitely be wrong.” Alex could feel the souls around him, moving at a snail’s pace. It made him dizzy when he paid attention. “We definitely should. To party, of course.” Yet for some reason Alex felt himself kind of disappointed, wanting a date he had only heard stories of. He doubted they meant this kind of way but the feeling was growing stronger – so strong that when they touched, he felt the shock spread through him as well. His hand didn’t move however. His eyes met the other’s. “Don’t worry about it. It’s nice to meet you too. How about a round of shots? Something that won’t taste like acid, I promise. Gotta start somewhere, right?”
“I’ve never been to New York, but I’ve heard it’s mad busy,” he spoke fondly of the city he’d always dreamed of visiting, all he knew about it was what he’d learned from Movies and TV shows. When he clarified the partying statement, Justin could have sworn he’d heard a bit of disappointment in Alex’s voice. No, no way. He wasn’t going to make assumptions, because that just lead to trouble and heartbreak. They still had to break the connection, just staring into each other’s eyes. Quickly, he pulled his hand back, not wanting to get punched. “A round of shots...” He thought for a moment, maybe this guy was some kind of stalker and was gonna try and get him drunk and murder him. Or maybe he was just a really genuine guy. “...Sure. Why not?” Justin smirked, “Wait, how old are you?”
angelixwar:
He nodded with a small smile. Of course he couldn’t tell the other who she really was to him but saying she was his aunt was close enough. That or his sister. Maybe he should’ve went with that. “Yeah, I just reconnected with her a few weeks ago. She’s pretty cool.” Which wasn’t a lie at all. “Neither have I, honestly. I’m only here because she works here and I’m staying with her for a while. I’d either love it or it’d go straight through me.” A hearty chuckle escaped his lips, causing his shoulders to rise and fall. Alex had heard that before but when the other said it, he couldn’t help believe it for a moment. He rarely thought of his eye color or the fact that it would be considered cool. Why he believed the other, he wasn’t sure. “A few people,” he laughed again before extending his hand to the other. “I’m Alex. What’s your name?”
Hot and mysterious? This guy was getting more and more interesting by the second. “So you don’t live here?” He hadn’t been here a huge amount of time himself, but he was beginning to recognise familiar faces, and this guy was a face he’d definitely remember. “We should go out sometime....to party, I mean. I met some people in my apartment block who invite me out basically every night, they say the club doesn’t card you either, so it sounds pretty cool,” he shrugged, not entirely sure of the situation. When the guy held his hand out, Justin quickly wiped his own on his trousers, of course he’d have clammy hands when the hot guy wanted to handshake. “It’s nice to meet you Alex, I’m Justin.” He reached out and grabbed the extended hand. As he touched the other, he felt a zap of electricity shoot through him, not like an electric shock...something stronger. His eyes darted up quickly from the joined hands to his dazzling eyes. It was like the entire world had faded to black and white slow-mo, and the only thing that existed was the two of them. “Sorry,” he mumbled, his own eyes sparkling as he offered a silly smile, “Static...must be from the floor.”
angelixwar:
The feeling coursed through his veins but he wasn’t able to tell what it was, however, he was able to smile easier when the other did. There was something about him that made Alexander just melt inside and it confused him. Looking over the male’s shoulder, he saw none other than his mother working on another drink already. “My aunt’s a bit of a rebel, I’d say. She likes to make sure everyone has a good time but I get a sense that this isn’t really what you like to do for fun?” The urge to peek at the male’s life was strong but the desire to learn more about him himself was stronger. “Unless I’m completely wrong and I can’t read people nearly as well as I thought I could?”
“She’s your Aunt?” He tilted his head to the side, now that he mentioned it, he could see the familial resemblance, “You’re lucky you have a cool, hip Aunt. All of my Parents’ siblings are way over 40,” he let out a chuckle and sipped on his soda. “I’m not even old enough to drink, but it’s pretty chill here, everyone’s cool with it.” Justin leaned forward on his stool slightly, resting an arm on his leg as he stared up at the gorgeous guy. He shook his head with a little laugh, “I dunno, I’ve never really done the whole party thing properly before...I’ll probably love it too much if I ever do,” he joked, finding it surprisingly easy to not be awkward, “Has anyone ever said your eyes are really cool?” and there it was....stupid, awkward idiot. He could hear himself mocking his own words in the back of his mind - adding them to the List of 10000+ things Justin Prince says and regrets instantly.
angelixwar:
Being in a bar of all places was not something that he had on his list of fun activities but his mother worked there which is why he had a free ticket as long as he stuck to the ( kid friendly ) selections. It was okay, working the bar for any threats that may loom against his mother. He wasn’t particularly paying attention to those that may be against him. Perhaps if he had been paying attention, he would’ve known not to stop but to walk out those doors and see his mother later. But he did stop, looking at the male who had been speaking to his mother. An odd feeling washed over him that he couldn’t place, the confused stupor keeping him from saying anything other than, “That’s probably a wise choice.” One blue eye and one half blue, half brow eye blinked as he tried to figure out why the male had caught his attention like that.
Justin turned to face the voice that came from behind him and he couldn’t help the goofy smile that crept across his face. He had to admit, he’d never seen a guy hotter, but he’d had enough experience to know that it was best to assume the blonde dude was straight, or else risk being punched again. “I don’t really drink that much to be honest, but she’s the most persuasive bartender I’ve ever met,” he laughed and threw his thumb over his shoulder, gesturing to Penny who had gone back to working. “Plus, I’m pretty sure that she put extra vodka in that, it was like acid,” his hazel eyes wrinkled at the corners when he laughed. He’d always been a bit of an awkward duckling, especially when strangers came up and spoke to him, but once he was out of his shell it was a challenge to shut him up.
“Nope,” he coughed as the acidic taste filled his mouth and burned the back of his throat, “I don’t think that’s really my thing, Pen, I’ll just stick to the plain old Cola,” he chuckled, politely handing the alcohol back to the blonde bartender and sinking down in his stool.

“Is it always this hot here or is this a special bit of hell just for me?” Rosalee sighed as she held an ice cube to her forehead.
“I think it’s better if you put them in the drink,” Justin smirked, “But I’m no ice-expert...just a little tip.”

“It has some amazing nightlife, if that’s your thing.”
