My dad used to use a lot of different sayings when I was growing up, some that contradictory. But it's important to know when to use

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained"

And when to use

"A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush"

And sometimes that bird in the hand is what's ventured.

When I told you that I'm glad we're friends, it scared you. You said you're afraid of hurting. I said I'm ok with being hurt. I want us to be friends, you're such a good person, that I truly feel that when I'm with you, I become a better person.

You say that you don't want to hurt, and that you tend to push your friends away. So you don't want to hurt? Or do you not want to be hurt?

I've been trying to be your friend for a whole year, to be a safe space for you, and honestly, it's more hurtful that you don't even give me a chance. I really want the best for you, and if you're not available to me for a while, everything's fine. I'll be here when you decide to come back, I'll always be here.

I want you to know that there is someone who always wants the best for you, and I don't care if that means we don't talk for six months because of executive dysfunction, and you can't talk to anyone. I don't care if you ignore me personally. It doesn't matter to me. I want us to be friends and not just "someone I worked with at some point." I define you as my friend, and it's not that easy to stay in that definition for the amount of time that you've had it, I value you and I'm always here for you. I want you to know
