alright, so neopronouns (i shorten it to just ‘neos’) are defined as ‘The neopronoun is a specific type of gender-neutral pronoun. This refers to a newly-coined pronoun (think neologism) which has been created to fill the perceived lack of a gender-neutral option in English.’ basically, they’re any singular english third person pronoun set other than he/him, she/her, or they/them (or it/its, but thats a topic for another time)
a ‘pronoun set’ are all five forms of the pronoun, subject (she), object (her), possessive adjective (her), possessive pronoun (hers), and reflective (herself). most people only put the first two (she/her) in bios, but some people continue with the full set
a common example of a neo set is ey/em/eir/eirs/eirself. to use, you replace the standard pronoun set with the neopronoun set
‘this is [name]! she’s going to the park with her friends, i hope she has a good time and doesnt forget her basket! you know, she made that basket herself, and is quite proud of herself for it.’
‘this is [name]! ey’s going to the park with eir friends, i hope ey has a good time and doesn’t forget eir basket! you know, ey made that basket eirself, and is quite proud of eirself for it!’
it takes a bit of fiddling to get used to the replacement (and eventually not thinking about replacing, just using), but they’re really fun to use and make!!
