· "And the point isn’t ALL men are menaces to women. The point is, ALL women have been menaced by men."
· I love this whole thing but ^ this bit here rings too true.
Why is planned parenthood one of my recommended tumblrs?
This is not okay, stop judging me tumblr.
The universe is boundlessly various and... all possibilities may exist without excluding each other.
O'Flaherty 1973
Sometimes I think about the glamourous, materialistic, fast paced lifestyle I'm envisioning living for the next few years and all I want to go is go and live in a hammock and handmake clothes for a living and not wear shoes and burn incense and dance in long skirts with bells on them to the Appalachians and Nahko Bear.
Thermochromic table by Jay Watson
I'm actually obsessed with performance poetry. And yes, I know how wanky that sounds but it accesses my emotions like nothing else. And I mean, I've heard I'm pretty emotionally stunted.
This is an great poem by a Jewish girl and a Muslim girl about the society that teaches them to hate each other.
I'm starting to think that the only 'private parts' are those inside your mind... A body can be accessed by many, but each wanderer through a mind has a unique and different experience.
slappin my new sticker series up around the city, get them here

"Subjects act, objects are acted upon... Even if you become the perfect sex object, you will become perfectly subordinate... Sex (self-objectification) is not empowering."
God this is a great video.
floating thoughts before bedtime
So I should be asleep right now because I'm deliriously tired but I can't sleep because a friend's recent instagram post has got me all riled up.
The content of the post is irrelevant, it was just some wanker who couldn't deal with rejection but it got me thinking and lately I've realised that I've had to deal with my fair share of complete assholes and I'm wondering a few things:
-why I've dismissed these things as part of life
-how I should have reacted
-why this,is so,prevalent in Australia
Since living in Hong Kong, the only time I have felt threatened or uncomfortable is by a foreigner and I guess the lack of aggressive sexual behaviour towards me here has made me realise how often it occurs back home.
so i have all of these scenarios swirling in my head right now and the picture they are painting makes me so angry but there is nothing i can do,about it except at the moment it happens so I'm just going to write about it here
1. When I go out to a club, without fail, I will get my ass grabbed by someone I do not know. A random guy walked past me once in a club and grabbed at my vagina.. HOW COULD YOU EVER THINK THAT WAS OKAY?!
2. Most nights I will have to get seriously aggressive with a guy before he will stop doing whatever I've asked him to stop doing. This can be anything from dancing with me to touching me to them grabbing. My hips and literally crushing their pelvis into my backside. If I can't get you to stop doing something as simple as dancing with me, I'm seriously concerned about your comprehension of the concept of consent. Don't you understand how messed up it is to continue pursuing a girl who has flat out said no,to,you? Have some self respect and don't make her the target of your ego trip. You're not a hunter anymore, don't reduce yourself to Neanderthal status by turning this into a predator-prey relationship
How did we turn our men into this? I know so many wonderful caring emotionally intact and intelligent men but why has this pursuit of women become such a detrimental influence in our lives?
"Socrates saw his task as helping people to 'give birth' to the correct insight, since real understanding must come from within. It cannot be imparted by someone else. And only the understanding that comes from within can lead to true insight."
Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder
Women's Revolutionary Law
This was created by the Zapatista Army of National Resistance and I just thought it was interesting in a few contexts...
Women, regardless of their race, creed, colour or political affiliation, have the right to participate in the revolutionary struggle in any way that their desire and capacity determine.
Women have the right to work and receive a fair salary
Women have the right to decide the number of children they have and care for.
Women have the right to participate in the matters of the community and hold office if they are free and democratically elected.
Women and their children have the right to Primary Attention in their health and nutrition.
Women have the right to an education.
Women have the right to choose their partner and are not obliged to enter into marriage.
Women have the right to be free of violence from both relatives and strangers.
Many of these should simply state "humans" instead of women but I suppose the statement speaks louder when directed at those who experience more issues with achieving the rights mentioned. Although the last one is definitely not a gender specific problem and I'd say how accessible a lot of these rights are depends on where you live.
Lily Myers poem "Shrinking Women".
The clicking applause is annoying but its great watching someone deliver something so clearly close to her heart. Watch carefully as she prepares herself. Every few words you can see her mentally pushing herself to finish what she is saying. What a great poem.
This girl is so fabulous. I don't even understand why her ELLE cover was a controversy... She looks way more unique and beautiful in person in this interview than on the cover though.
my guide to sexual consent is uppity up! let’s talk about:
✔ why consent is rly rly hella important ✔ how to ask for consent ✔ what consent looks like ✔ consent when you’re drunk
[New Sex+: WANNA HAVE SEX? (CONSENT 101)]
Of all of the Constent video’s going on on YouTube right now (WHICH I LOVE SO MUCH AND ARE AMAZING OHMYGOD AND A LOT OF THEM ARE GUYS AND THE WORLD IS WONDERFUL) this one might actually be my favorite. I mean I might be a little biased because Laci is so freaking amazing but I find this video pretty comprehensive, really CLEAR and sense-making, and also really fun and cute!
THANK UUUUUU omg u so sweet (≧◡≦)
omg yes look even if you think you’re on the downlow with consent, please watch this video. I’ve broken some of these rules before, even when I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about this stuff, so take some time to watch the video and re-evaluate how you approach sex.
but if you don’t want to watch for whatever reason
Don’t get sexy with someone when they’re drunk
if they’re too drunk to drive a car, they are too drunk to consent
don’t be a douche
THIS IS TOOOOO GREAT! I want this girl by my side whereever I go to give a well rehearsed "Consent is sexy" speech when required.
Also because she's super cute and fun. I'm loving the consent focus swirling around at the moment.
