Just a rough thought but... What if Harding died when she fell off the cliff? What if what came back wasn't exactly Harding but a lyrium-rebirth of a sort.

Like the moment she reconnected with lyrium a titan became her more so than she became a titan.

Veilguard Appreciation Week - Day 2: Rivain

I feel like living my cringe-free era and making a fic that combines my special interests with Dragon Age...

A demon (yokai, specifically)/dragon/deity style AU

Evanuris actually being demons with exception of Mythal and Elgar'nan being dragons (and therefore deities) that are corrupted.

I doubt anyone will read it, because not everyone enjoys this kinda thing but... I wanna get it out of my head by putting the idea down somewhere.

So my husband romanced Taash and made this giant Qunari ala Iron Bull style to romance them. And apparently HE picks them up instead of them picking up their partner and.... Idk how I feel about this fam.

I mean not to yuck my husband's yum but Taash just feels like they would still pick up the male Qunari too...

Useless Veilguard fact of the day: Day 2

There is a cut line in the script where a Dalish (?) Rook could tell a momma joke to someone in elven.

So this is Halevune an Evanuris OC

She is the Goddess of Stealth and Reflection Her Symbol is Satina (Thedas's second and often hidden moon) and a White Fox

I've been cooking up some background for my Rook (won't post too much about her here) but involved was a "reincarnation" of her spirit (yes, I mean spirit, not Soul :3c... ) - which I identified as "Will." I am not yet sure on what Halevune warps into but this ref is kinda WIP anyway

Also yes, the symbol being similar to Lusacan, the Dragon, is very much on purpose but no, she is not Lusacan. No I will not elaborate further (yet.)

I'm definitely coloring this later and but still wanted to share as is. Halevune is Elgar'nan's soulmate - which is important to the canon of this character for future Rook reasons... And also Elgar'nan warping from Protection to Tyranny. :3c

It's all wholesome. At least until Dread Wolfy and Meddling Mythal kinda shenanigans happen. But its very important that it's not because of jealousy... At least not on Halevune's/Mythal's part.

She gets power from the Sun and the Big Moon through reflections. Depending on which she is reflecting will determine what power she uses.

Halevune is pronounced "Hahl-eh-voon-aye" and translates to Moon Fox (I used project elven for this - so this is not really canon complient). I actually named her this as a joke but then I loved how it sounded... And I loved the idea that her nickname is literally just "Hale" (hahl-eh) which sounds so much like Halla so whenever Ghilan'nain says something about Halla, Hale will look over like "you talking about me Ghil??" ... "no, silly."

Elaborating here that this is background for my Rook, Valkyrie Ingellvar, who... Surprise... was a spirit this whole time TM

Rook is supposed to be a necromancer but she also is a rogue so I kinda just play her as both in game. Also she gets with Emmrich, of course, because he's a sweet heart obviously.

Then Elgar'nan shows up and he's so out of it from blight and stuff that he doesn't exactly understand why he's hesitating from destroying Rook at literally every opportunity he has.

But Rook being a manifested spirit of Will actually for that Emmrook "there's something quite indomitable about you" and Elgar'nan just bashing at an immovable force basically that is Rook... xD Many have tried. None have succeeded, at least not like that.

Rook and Elgar'nan ultimately figure it out. Still working that part out for Rook, but he is sorta possessing her while he recovers and then it clicks. Like before he even starts to think he can pull some anything he realizes "oh shit... It's her..." And then it's all wholesome again TM because I'm a sucker for happy endings.

And Emmrich I'm not sure what to do with him yet. He seems like a monogamous kinda fellow, but not possessive. Imagine either he's like spirits will be spirits (because it's not se*ual obviously for any of them)... Or he's like "yea let's just be friends Rook." :V

But I choose to believe Rooks are like cats. That every NPC in Veilguard (and beyond?) and even some other Rooks too go by the "Rook Distribution System."

Are you a lonely Necromancer? You get a Rook.

Are you a deadly assassin with insecurities? You get a Rook.

Are you the BBEG of the game trying to relive your glory days as a despot? You get a Rook.

Are you a severely blighted woman who might be part octopus at this point? You get a Rook.

Are you a venatori who thinks Rook smells nice and might be nice to ride into battle with them at your side?.... No you don't get a Rook. Sorry...

I headcanon that Spirits fall into the ace spectrum somewhere in general since they are born/created in a way outside of mortal procreation. Not to say they don't do it, particularly if they have a physical body, but just that there's not a chemical desire for them to do so. It might be easier for some spirits, particularly spirits of desire for example, but harder for others.

I also headcanon that Soulmates exist, and is a very specific magic that extends to spirits and souls (essence of a mortal) alike. That for mortals there may be more than one they may consider a soulmate as their lives are too brief to understand the true nature of a soulmate at the core. But for Spirits there is only ever one since Spirits are mostly eternal (they live forever unless something changes that externally which causes their energy to be recycled in the ether). And that soulmate brings out the best in them—which for "demons" that means bringing out their base nature.

For Solas, specifically, I ship him with Inquisitor Lavellan. That she was was his soulmate, and why she appealed so quickly and readily to his nature as a spirit of wisdom—not of pride. That it's only for her he can set aside his warped persona and be himself again.

Specific to my headcanon: Elgar'nan's soulmate was Rook. [Not Mythal, very importantly.] That he gave pause for Rook and Rook alone which confounded even him. That he's been his warped persona for so long that not even he remembers or knows what he was before. [for in my HC he was originally a spirit of Protection, the very first of all spirits and without the language to call himself anything until much later when a mortal gave him a name which meant Spirit of Vengeance, which started warping his purpose well before he ever got a lyrium body.]

Also specific to my headcanon: 🖕Mythal🖕[Because literally everything could have been avoided if she had stopped meddling.]

Rook is Asexual. Elgar'nan is drawn to her (maybe romantically...? Non sexual tho for sure) because spirits are strangely drawn to Rook for "some mysterious reason." Emmrich is also important to this. Mostly during in-game events.

Lich Helmet -> from Adoptive Father Ingellvar prior to his untimely and mysterious death while researching a strange yellow-green substance that seems to devour magic

Hawke's Armor -> Varric gave it to Rook prior to his death

Mourn Watcher Staff -> gift from Emmrich prior to his death Lichdom

Elgar'nan's Crown -> Found after it flew away from Elgar'nan's exploding/imploding body after the battle — replaces her Lich helmet because it broke.
