Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.

One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.

And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.

The biggest problem with this wave of faux-progressive 'just censor the gross things' is that there's literally no objective measure for art. No one draws the line at the same place for 'how far is too far', no full consensus will ever be reached over if something is or isn't romanticized. If we ban everything over every kneejerk reaction of 'ew yucky' we aren't gonna have shit left, including the things these people supposedly want to protect like queer, POC, disability literature and rep because if we start censoring one thing then the definition of what should be censored will broaden, and it'll broaden and broaden to encapsulate more and more 'immoral' subjects until whoops we're back in the Satanic Panic. So you may not like it and I may not like it, but that 200K-word Dead Dove Do Not Eat klance whump fic has to stick around if you want your wholesome shadowvanilla smut oneshot to still be here tomorrow
