“It might take hours to find something to watch on Netflix, but, like, have you ever been on Ravelry?”
I’ve been busy making little cacti lately. Free Pattern available on Ravelry and on their Blog!
You know when you’ve lost your crojo and finally find something that is super satisfying to make so you make a whole bunch of them? That. That’s what I’ve been doing.
What does this mean: ch 65 loosely (multiple of 6+3+2 for foundation ch) ? Why three multiples in this? I,m trying to crochet a prayer shawl. Thank you, Bonnie
Hi Bonnie! I’m not sure what pattern you’re working on, so I can only guess. But what I’d think is that you’re going to chain a multiple of 6 (so 12, or 54, or 120, etc) then three more for the repeating pattern to work properly, and I’m going to guess that the last +2 is written as a turning chain, so the last two chains are not something you would work in when you work the next row. I hope that makes sense and is accurate for this pattern! Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions!
ATTENTION ARTISTS: Need help calculating your commission prices?
A tool that I’ve found is really handy is a called the Cash Clock. It’s a simple program that measures both the time that you’re working on a piece as well as how much money you should be earning. You can adjust the hourly wage to whatever you feel is right. Simply start the clock whenever you begin working on a project right up until you’re finished. It can give you a clear indication of what you should charge for commissions.
No artist should make below minimum wage for their artwork.
The Cash Clock is found as a download here.

Oh man I was just telling Muttonchops I should use some kind of stopwatch for when I’m actually working on a picture because I’m pretty sure I need to either charge more (not feasible) or work a fuck of a lot faster/be less distracted.
heeey mega handy!
If you can remember to start this up when you begin a commission, you’ll know when you’re spending more time than what the job is worth.
If you you do freelance work and need to learn how to respect your time better (because if you don’t respect it, no one else will), this is a good tool to help start you on your way!
Important for the crochet community!!!
I made the Simpsons!
This is great!!!! <3<3 Good job!
I am to ch 10 plus 12. Does that mean I will have a chain that totals 22 chained stitches to begin the piece?
Are you sure it says ch 10 plus 12? If it says ch a multiple of 10 plus 12, I’d say you’re working with a foundation chain. That means you chain any multiple of 10 (so 10, or even 20 or 50, etc) then chain 12 more. More information on foundation chains can be found here: http://juststitched.tumblr.com/post/33379325398/chain-a-multiple-of-plus-what-does-itOtherwise, if it just says ch 10 plus 12, I’d say yes, 22. I’d love to know what you’re making, and feel free to message me for further advice!
psychic: *reads my mind* me: *ch 3 count as dc, dc into next sc, ch 2, dc 1 into next sc, ch 2, rep from* psychic: what the fuck
I came across directions that say [5,11,5,11,17] and I don't understand.
Hey anon! I'm not sure what you’d be working with! If you have a pattern link, please let me know!! I’d love to help you out!!!
Chain 17x9 then add 3. What does this mean?
Hey anon! It sounds like you may be dealing with working a foundation chain! Check out my post about foundation chains here: http://juststitched.tumblr.com/post/33379325398/chain-a-multiple-of-plus-what-does-itThank you for asking!!! <3
Hi:) What does a multiple of 3 + 2 + 3 mean? Thanks Karen
Hi Karen! It sounds like it could be instructions to make a foundation chain. Check out my post on Foundation Chains here:http://juststitched.tumblr.com/post/33379325398/chain-a-multiple-of-plus-what-does-itThanks for asking!!!!
Spotted! Check out this crochet afghan seen in the opening sequence of Paranormal Survivor Season 2!
Spotted! I was scrolling through facebook and happened to notice these crocheted wristwarmers on Aubrey Plaza (of Parks and Rec). Imagine my surprise when the video was about “Weed Nuns” and featured marijuana, but I said screw it and took the screen shots anyway, because... hello, crochet! I decided to feature the “most appropriate for all ages” photo, but there are a few closeups (of the wristwarmers!) that I will upload below, in case anyone has an aversion to marijuana usage and can ignore or filter out those photos.
If you’re interested in watching the entire video, here’s the link to youtube: https://youtu.be/_3vHbXDMNmE
Disclaimer: I do not condone or support the illegal usage of marijuana.
Spotted! I’m sure anyone who’s in the crochet community AND watches Orange is the New Black is well aware of the crochet items that appear in the episodes. Here’s just the latest I’ve noticed in Season 5. This is from Episode 7: Full Bush, Half Snickers.

Some boxes we’ve made. The first and third were sold to a local yarn store. The second is our attempt at a treasure chest–still working out the kinks. I have two more that I’m in the processes of finishing off. I think they look pretty good. And I’ve found a whole bunch of satisfaction in staining and varnishing. Soon we plan to make an Etsy shop for them. :)
If you thought Yarn Bowls were awesome, check out these ABSOLUTELY STUNNING Yarn Boxes!!! So gorgeous and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for their Etsy shop! Special shoutout to @feverfewm for bringing these to my attention! Thank you!!!
Spotted! I’ve been watching The Blacklist in my spare time (aka 5-10 minute bursts while I’m eating breakfast and lunch, and sometimes dinner) and I noticed this cute and simple crocheted afghan. This is from S2E3: The Deer Hunter.
Spotted! This granny afghan made an appearance on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries. It’s been in my folder for a while, I just haven’t really had the time to sit down at the computer without being busy!!! I must also apologize for my lenghty absence. Times are changing, life is fast, and sometimes I just can’t keep up!!! Love you all! <333
