And holy. And peaceful. And loving. And joyous. And obedient. And pure. And self-sacrificing. And new. And worshipful. And diligent. And righteous. And passionate. And friendly. And sinless. And strong. And patient. And thankful. And bold. And honoring. And kind. And honest. And perfect. And free. And reverent. And faithful. And wise. And blameless. And respectful. And zealous. And considerate.

God loves everyone and wants every single person to have the best, most abundant life. The only way that’s possible is if we give up control, stop acting like the gods of our lives, and let Him take charge. Let Him make us into completely new people.

opinion on "tough love"?

Always coupled with not so tough love. If you’ve got someone who’s using you to maintain their life of sin, it’s ok to withdraw financial or social support.

Don’t be an enabler for their misbehavior. 

But always offer other help. Offer spiritual help. Offer friendship. Offer advice or prayer or transportation or something. Don’t just turn your back. 

One example might be someone who has been regularly taking your money claiming to need it for food or clothing, and ends up using it for drugs or alcohol. It might be appropriate to stop giving them money but instead offer to pay for counseling or rehab. Or offer to give them a place to stay as long as they are faithful to come to church with you. Or offer transportation to and from their job if they promise to never miss a shift. 

Be a friend that lifts people up, not one that allows them to wallow in the mud.

To what extent do you continue that? People can only take so much… Friendship goes both ways, right? Give and take from BOTH parties

I don’t think people should determine which friends get to stay based on what they get out of the relationship. God has us on this Earth to do His will, and much of that includes selflessly serving people. Who cares if certain friends are inconvenient to keep around? Jesus died for me and for them. What kindness is too much trouble for me to give them? I’ve been forgiven all my sins and have same the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead working inside of me. God will give me an infinite amount of mercy and grace. I can keep pouring myself out for others and God will keep filling me back up.

Loneliness is a required course for leadership…If God is preparing you to make an impact on this world for His kingdom, chances are He will take you through a season of solitude. This is a season when you learn that you can’t lean upon anyone but Him for your confidence and when you gain the strength to stand alone even when no one else stands with you.
