I’m not skilled in photoshop nor I’m good with words. But I couldn’t let today pass without leaving some words to my ultimate bias. Here, is still 29 & ‘m pretty sure that in Korea is 29 as well, but soon enough will be the 30. The day earth was blessed with Lee Gikwang. It’s amazing how far this kid has come, which makes me admire him more and more. 24 years old. Someone is getting old.. Ah, I’m so bad at this but I want to say so much. I love Gikwang a lot, it will be three years since he’s my ultimate, three years since my heart has been his.
When people ask me why I love Lee Gikwang is hard to explain, it’s hard to find the right words to express the feeling I have. Of course is not romantic love since I never met him, nor know exactly how he is. But I know I love him, by smiling every time I see a picture of him, by feeling my heart beat faster every time he posts a new picture because somehow, we are connected yet so far and so distant.
I love him for so many factors, I didn’t pick him to be my ultimate bias because he’s handsome ( though it helps indeed ), because he wasn’t always this handsome. I didn’t pick him because he’s really famous among b2st. I picked him because of his shy personality when he’s around people he doesn’t know, by the sound of his laugh which such good melody to me, by the way he dedicates himself when he’s on stage, by the way he smiles every time he gets happy, or how he frowns when he’s tired, by the way he always jokes around with his members, by the way he has such good heart, by the way he has such passion for rappers, by the way he’s such a good actor, by the way he takes the most idiot pictures I’ve ever seen, by the way he likes to eat and by the way he sings so well.
There’s actually another thing I love about him, how is not racist? You see most asian people tend to distant themselves from black? In the midnight sun behind the scenes, you can see how this kid got so happy to meet the black dancers and how nice he was ( trying to speak english and stuff. ), even if it’s extremely random, that made me love him more and more.
You see, before being Kikwang on stage, he was Lee Gikwang and if you see his pre debuted pictures, he was an idiot but.. he’s still a huge idiot. I think that’s what makes him the best. He didn’t change to be loved, he kept being himself. To be honest, people tend to believe he’s rude sometimes because he “ignores” fans. But in my point of view, some days he’s just tired and if not then let him be, he doesn’t have to be always smiling, now has he? I know idols aren’t 100% of what they show, but to me as long as he is happy, I’ll be happy.
He had so many problems, so many hard times and to get where he is, showing everyone he could do it, it’s far amazing. He suffered but here he is, smiling, laughing, being a dork. And now 24 years old— and when I think there’s not a moment I regret being his fan.
There’s so much I wanna write, I keep getting slices and moments for why I love him, there are so many because I really really really love Lee Gikwang, and I hope he has a great day on his birthday, I hope he smiles a lot and gets wasted with his friends. He deserves everything.
