My finished assignment! was fun and looking forward to my future in animation! :)
I changed my character and used more shape. I think he’s pretty cool. I’ve never designed a character before so I found it particularly hard. I found his nose most difficult to suit all sides, I started with the front, then side then the 3/4 view. The 3/4 view is what I struggled with most but it was simpler because I had the indicator from the front and side view. This assignment was a bit of a challenge but fun to do.
My first character design I designed. I did this in the studio in college. I didn’t particularly like it, thought his shapes were a bit odd
I used audacity for sound. I used filmora for editing and I used YouTube to upload my video. I have never worked with computers before so I don’t think I did too bad.
And I also couldn’t remove the watermark from the video, sorry about that
Here is my finished Hush Re edition. I really enjoyed filming it and getting to work with my sisters as part of a project.I was upset because I couldn’t include a lot of animation as I don’t have a lot of materials at home. I got to add some traditional animation, which was hard because of the lunchbox and iPhone light I had to improvise with, but I don’t think it’s the worst. I was proud of the first running scene I drew because it took me many attempts to make it look like she was running. I feel like I could’ve faded to clips together or made them more fluid with effects. I think my sound could’ve been more smooth but I’m happy I got to include it. I liked I could add a few touches of comedy to it myself and make it my own more than a recreation, but I still used the basis of the scene I analyzed. I’m not mad with the outcome but with the right materials and facilities I could’ve done a lot better. Overall, I enjoyed the project and proud of my first finished animation.
Lotte is another artist I looked to. Her use of shadow linked in with horror, I wanted to try sand animation but due to being at home I don’t have access to do that. So, I tried to incorperate a shadowed figure using film, by filming at nightime
Bill Plympton is an artist I looked towards throughout my project. He’s traditional and keeps his animations simplistic.
I did a still scene. I wanted to capture the fear on the face especially because it’s a still frame. I sketched out different scared faces and see which one is more exaggerated
This is my face study of expression of breathing of my character trying to calm herself down. I think bouncing back and forth between two expressions of breathing is the best way to do it and express that motion. The last one I tried to do exaggerated brows over the head to try and accentuate the fear and de stress on her face, but I just feel like it looks wierd so I left it out
Here’s my drawing panels of the running scene. They’re small because my lightbox is small and can’t draw big on something small and I had to make due with this. It was difficult because working on such small proportions and unable to add detail without it getting messy.
I’ve been trying to import my files to my top to edit but it’s been taking forever. Some videos won’t import and I’m finding it very difficult. I tried to edit on my phone because I’m familiar with that and know how to do that but it doesn’t let me add sound to it or cut certain clips because they’re too short for the iMovie app
I was looking at different short animations online and I really liked this one. It is done with traditional animation, and was easy to analyze things like still shorts and the motion in it. I think it was really helpful, but also a quite cool animation in itself. It’s also not perfect and aligned perfectly which I liked, and looks like an average drawing, but brought to another level with the animation, it was reassuring because sometimes it can be hard to draw things and make them look perfect because sometimes they look odd.
A man lost in his own head searches for someone to play chess with in Anete Melece's short film about overthinking Analysis Paralysis
This is the clothing of the killer, I made the mask myself and used things from home like the bow and arrow which he had on his back belonged to my brother.
I started filming my scenes. Some scenes I recreated directly because I think they fit really well. The problem I had was lighting. It’s hard to get lighting in the dark that’s too intense.
I’m going to try redo my clip of the woman running. I feel as though the motion isn’t as fluid as I would like it to be.
Here’s another video I watched. I rewatched it to refresh my brain on the principles of animation.
