This is a video showing the movement of all the parts of my diorama!
This is a video of my finished diorama with Icarus falling!
These are some pictures of my finished diorama with Icarus added to it and also the light in the background!
I’m really pleased with how my diorama ended up!
I again used masking tape and wire to create the figure of icarus. I first drew out a sketch of what I wanted and then made that out of wire.
I also added texture to the wings to try and convey that they were broken and melting.
I decided I wanted the diorama to look more 3D but I also wanted to take advantage of the lighting still so I continued using masking tape and creating shapes.
This is my work in progress diorama for my project! I used masking tape for the back because I wanted to go with a silhouette effect.
I’m happy with the way it’s going so far as I’ve haven’t done anything like this before!
This is from one of my lectures, we were given prompts that we then had to make 3D figures from using anything around your house!
My prompt was ‘fish person’ which I imagined as an opposite mermaid. The main materials I used were just masking tape and cardboard.
I started off with these two sketches, mainly just trying to set up a scene. The second sketch is drawn from a scene in ‘Spider-Man into the Spider Verse’ which seems odd but I realised it was exactly what I was thinking!
I tried my hand at a coloured digital sketch! I was trying to practice a bit at proportion. I also planned on doing a short animation!
This is my brainstorm for the story brief!
I came to my idea pretty quickly because I had an idea of what I wanted to do, so ended up with a pretty brief brainstorm.
I ended up going with the mythology route cause it holds a big interest for me and the myth I choose is The Story of Icarus as it is one of my favourite ones.
I’m pretty happy with the direction I’ve chosen because I feel like there’s a lot I can do!
Some concept art I have of how I planned to bring my fighting theme into my fashion elective! I wanted to show a contrast of typical high fashion drawings, with figures that have elongated proportions and such, wearing DnD style armour.
I also would’ve liked to show this contrast in the opposite way given more time, such as a figure fighting in something considered high fashion.
Animation 4/4 - This is again another storyboard I started for 2 figures fighting. I found it a lot of fun trying to figure out how the figures would move!
Animation 3/4 - This is basically just the beginnings of trying to block in a figure for the last animation. You might recognise the character from some of my concept art!
Animation 2/4 - This was a storyboard I did of someone sliding into frame after being hit then coming to a rest. I spent a lot of this one also just learning the program and such!
Animation 1/4 - This was the first animation I did on Krita so I could get used to how the program works! Just a positively rotund cat moving it’s tail.
Statement for the Movement Project
For my movement project, I started by brainstorming ideas around movement. The ideas that appealed to me the most were about motion, action, expression and storytelling. I developed my motion idea into fighting. My interest in DnD, dungeons and dragons - a rolepaying fantasy game, allowed me to explore a bit of my storytelling idea in my fighting theme. I developed my fighting theme in my electives through animations of two figures fighting, fashion drawings of high fashion with a theme of armour and sculptures of clay armour pieces.
Some concept art and movement sketches for my project. I had a lot of trial and error with figuring out how to draw figures doing certain movements, so I did these sketches to understand perspective and proportions.
More brain storming for my animation and concept art for what I originally planned to do for it!
This helped me to develop the project idea i finally decided on where I moved more towards doing digital work.
