This post is a little bit of a rant, but it's worth reading. This is something I'm very passionate about and will NEVER be silent about.

Across every website, every app and every social media platform, I repeatedly see creators talking about how they were harassed, stalked and had to deal with parasocial relationships. And it's never properly addressed. This sort of behavior is just normalized by Hollywood. BY SOCIETY. This sort of behavior should NEVER be normalized. I should not be able to lose track of how many people I've heard talk about this kind of stuff.

I hate how the internet is. I hate it with every fiber of my being. I hate how people think that they can just act like, for lack of a better word, ASSHOLES without consequences. There are always consequences, whether you think so or not. Just because you can be anonymous does not give you the right to harass, stalk or be parasocial with creators.

I have been on the internet since I was a kid, and overtime more and more creators have been coming forward about this kind of thing and it gets BRUSHED OFF. Overtime the internet has become a more HATEFUL place to be on. There's more hate comments than ever. More harassment than ever.

"That's just how the internet is" or "You signed up for this when you became a creator" or "You're too soft to be on the internet then." NOBODY. AND I MEAN NOBODY DESERVES TO HAVE THEIR FEELINGS BRUSHED OFF WHEN THEY FEEL UNSAFE AND UNCOMFORTABLE. AS CREATORS, WE DO NOT SIGN UP TO BE HARASSED, SEXUALIZED AND STALKED. WE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR PEOPLE TO PRETEND TO BE OUR FRIENDS OR OUR PARTNERS WHEN WE HAVE NEVER EVEN MET THEM. WE DO NOT DESERVE TO FEEL UNSAFE AND HAVE OUR BOUNDARIES BROKEN OVER AND OVER AGAIN. WE ARE PEOPLE TOO.

It's not hard to be respectful. It's not hard to be kind. It's not hard to be a decent human being on the internet.

Think before you speak. This goes for everyone.

Call me political if you so please, but we as a society, need to do better.
