I FEEL FREE :)
from half esper to ALL esper!!!
holy fucking shit! if you speak english, like me, those might be the words that come out of your mouth when you watch erina mano's latest drama "all esper dayo!" whenever i watch a new japanese drama, i try to be aware of my "american tourist syndrome". that's what i call the shock that a westerner like myself might feel when experiencing the crazy antics of japanese tv and movies. you start getting desensitized to it after a while. when i watched "hanbun esper", i was confused on so many levels... like "is that guy wearing a wig?" "isn't that her real name?" "do they even have a script?" "is this real?" well, over time, that feeling faded, i became a little wiser, a little more jaded, and looking back, i said to myself, "i guess hanbun esper wasn't that weird, compared to all the other CRAZY FUCKING SHIT that i've seen since. nothing surprises me anymore." then i watched "all esper dayo!" when i found out about it, i thought "oh erina mano really likes espers! she always looks so innocent and wholesome, let's see what her new show is like." that's when i felt it come back. the "american tourist syndrome". this is me watching it: "are you serious?" "they can show that?" "oh no, that's nasty, noooo....." "nooo... are you serious?? noo... awwww... oh my god........ awwwww...." "is that a real thing? what? do people really... awwww nooo......" now i know there's tons of hentai ecchi themes in japanese tv and manga and movies and whatnot, i know about all that. but this show, for me, really took it to the next level. literally every 10 seconds there's a penis, someone jerking off, someone humping something, upskirt, panty shot, talking about jerking off, naked guy, boners, weird fleshlight toy, more jerking off, boobs getting groped, sex sex sex, someone's ass, more talking about jerking off, more fleshlight, more panties... i'm not kidding you, it's like every 10 seconds. i think what caught me off guard was not only the quantity of perversion, but the fact that erina mano is the star. i guess it was the production of the whole thing. maybe it wouldn't have made such an impact if it looked more like a dirty indie movie made by some art school dropouts. like before i watched it, i assumed it was a show for kids about teenagers with superpowers starring a pop idol. i was not expecting it to be one of the most perverted shows i've ever seen in my life. and you know what? i think it's awesome. so she graduates and decides that she wants to get rid of her clean wholesome image. either that or she said, "this show is called all esper! i was already in half esper! i have to do this show no matter what!" and i say fuck it, erina mano, go do your thing. and really, in the show, erina mano is still playing the same type of character she would be playing anyway, the cute popular girl that the protagonist is in love with. there's a couple scenes too where she gets all serious and really gets to show off her acting skills. after getting past the shock of it all, and really thinking about it, it's cool as hell that erina mano would do this show. i think, she must actually be really cool in person to be down to do a show like this. like, if i took her out on a date, i could tell her a bunch of dirty jokes and she'd be into it. it's also a bit ironic that she's probably one of the most "innocent" looking idols i've ever seen. the show itself... is actually pretty good. but you won't know it unless you get past all the perverted stuff. it's easy to be shocked by this show and not look past the surface, but underneath is a pretty good storyline, with good writing and characters. it's based off a manga, and you can totally see it with the way the pacing is and the characters talk, it definitely feels like a manga. it reminds me a lot of x-men, or maybe heroes, and sometimes they do cool witty things with their superpowers. the show seems to revolve around "tenga", which is this jerk-off device that looks like a weird can of orange juice. the show isn't really about tenga per se, but it seems to pop up in almost every scene. they are constantly doing gags with tenga or talking about it. yes. it's fucking gross. but that's how it is. also, there's a dude who is just constantly grabbing his wife's breasts in every scene. like hardcore groping. and there's another dude who gets naked whenever he uses his teleportation power. like, really really really naked. and this doesn't just happen once like, "haha i can't believe he got naked, that's crazy", no he's naked pretty much the whole time. i wonder how awkward the set would get with this naked guy's raw junk in everyone's face. also, there is a cameo from jyonmyon pe, who was the main character from the movie "last days of the world", which is a really fucked up movie in its own right (and a really good one too, i definitely recommend it if you like fucked up movies). seeing him make an appearance in this show was priceless, that guy is awesome. now what i am really curious about is the reaction of erina mano fans. i've been trying to read up on it, but haven't found too much in english really. i know japanese people are probably all desensitized to this kinda thing, what's crazy to me is hardly anything to think about for them, but this show is pretty extreme. there's gotta be some kind of reaction to it. please tell me i'm not the only one in the world that found erina's new role to be a bit "shocking"? and i'm not saying it's bad, i love seeing gross perverted things, i think it's funny, i get a kick out of it, i'm a bit fucked up in the head myself, so for something to shock ME out of all people, well that just makes it even better. waiting for the rest of this show to be subbed, i watched the first couple episodes with subs, and the rest without. check it out if you haven't already!
nezumi likes korn
ever wonder what that doll was that nezumi has dangling from her bag? that is indeed the doll from korn's 4th album issues. yes, that's right, mayu watanabe is reppin' bakersfield style nu-metal circa 1999!
oh my god
that little slut
fuck guilty pleasure... how about just pleasure... i can truthfully say out loud that gangnam style is one of my favorite fucking songs of the past decade.

michishige sayumi magic card
she’s got her uses, you could really take some creatures out that otherwise would’ve had regenerate or some other such nonsense with that black ability…
started watching majisuka gakuen
stumbled across it randomly, thought to myself, hey, this is a perfect chance to get to know the akb girls. i had always shied away from them cause there’s just so damn many. after i started watching the show, i was totally blown away. it’s kinda like a cross between battle royale and river city ransom. my favorite has definitely got to be nezumi. right now i’m on season 3, though i don’t think it’s as good. season 2 was definitely the best, i liked how there didn’t seem to be just one main character killing everybody else.
Miss A vs. Girls' Day
VS
a while back, i was watching the korean variety show “oh my school” where they have various korean pop idols pretending to go back to school and they play games and have long conversations about being idols. some idols stay for most of the show, while others only stick around for an episode or two. it’s pretty entertaining and funny, and i found it very informative. eventually, i get to an episode where minah from girls day shows up, and let me just say, she is a walking aegyo overdose. she’s just spinning around all over the place, trying to be cute all the time… like seriously ALL the time, and it’s slightly awkward, yet i like her. then she says something about defeating her rival, min from miss a, and it gets even more awkward. later on, they’re all in their pajamas, and of course minah is practically wearing a bunny costume. min is just like, “so minah, what the fuck? why are you talking shit?” and the host dude is like, “alright, dance-off throwdown… now.” at this point, min proceeds to wipe the floor with minah in a dance off, and minah is left dishonored and ashamed in her bunny costume. i wonder why this rivalry came to be? min was just minding her own business when minah just gets all up in her face on TV… could it be because they’re both kinda short, have shorter hair, have min in their names, and belong to relatively newer kpop groups? fast forward to the future, and suddenly i catch wind of the new singles from miss a and girls’ day, “i don’t need a man” and “don’t forget me”. i realize to myself… holy fucking shit, BOTH these songs are so fucking good… like really, seriously, they are SO FUCKING GOOD. and i’ll be honest, i am extremely picky and opinionated with music, i’ve been trying not to be lately, but the power of these two singles really got to me. it got to the point where i would listen to them every day, or whenever i’d drive my car, and i would always end up playing them back to back. and ever since i saw that episode of “oh my school”, i couldn’t help but recall the rivalry of min and minah. so which song is better? which group is better? i know that miss a is way more popular, and girls’ day is relatively obscure. miss a’s single has got this fresh hip hop vibe to it, a vibe i’ve always been searching for and find moments of in other pop acts, but they really seem to tune into it in this single. it’s got a solid r&b groove mixed with an oriental sounding synth riff. i heard it for the first time on “school 2013” and thought, holy shit i gotta find out who does this song. on the other hand, girls’ day’s single is just downright AWESOME. the whole track is epic, good verses, chorus is SO catchy, musically it channels the same bittersweet love story that the music video so accurately portrays. this video was on a lot on tv when i was watching in the philippines, and i never got tired of the video. seriously, this video is so aweosme, i wanna cry every time i see it. it is like a culmination of everything that makes girls’ day awesome. and now i have to really be honest with myself. while i love both singles, miss a never really caught on with me personally. i have one of their albums, but i only really like a couple of their songs. either way, they’re getting really big really fast, from what i can see. as for girls’ day, i have ALL their releases, i love ALL their songs, i have been waiting forever for them to put out a full length, and they are still just a tiny blip on the radar. so for this round, i gotta give it up to girls’ day.
last night i had a dream that manny pacquiao had a boxing match with justin bieber.
i've always thought this
so i've started watching hanbun esper...
ok, i’ve gotta say, this is one of the weirdest fucking shows i’ve ever seen… first of all, everyone seems to be using their real names. they’re not playing themselves, but for some reason the writers just decided not to make up any names? ok ok, i’m not japanese, i’m not used to these kinds of quirky things, this is the first time i’ve seen a show like this. anyway, every episode there’s a bunch of hello! project girls making cameos, and it’s a very talky show… as i watch it, sometimes i’m not even sure if there’s a script or if they’re just making it up as they go along… oh yeah, and another thing… one of the main characters is wearing a bald cap that totally does not cover all his hair and an extremely fake white beard… like it’s made out of paper. who are you? why are you like that? anyway, erina mano has special powers and warps around doing random stuff… there’s a storyline and everything, but sometimes it seems like they just totally forget about it and go off on some random tangent. sometimes erina winds up in the middle of a radio show with members from s/mileage and they just talk about random things that they like. other times, erina warps into an audition room and sits at a table with two other dudes while they watch a series of comedians trying to impress them with a specific prop that changes each episode (first episode, some chick tries to turn a coat hanger into a hula hoop). i kinda like this part cause the other dudes are like, “erina mano, what did you think?” and erina is just like, “well, i feel that your routine would be better if you didn’t SUCK. try harder next time!” i’m only a couple episodes in, and despite the questionable production quality and surreal script, i keep wanting to watch it again. then i just sit there thinking, what the hell am i watching??? what the fuck is happening??? why am i watching this????? i was just at the point where i was saying to myself, hey, japanese stuff is NOT weird, it just seems weird because american culture is so different and i’m just an ignorant american… japanese stuff is normal and i accept it! …then i go and watch hanbun esper and i’m like WTFFFFFFFF??????? sigh. anyway, go watch it, all the episodes are subbed on dailymotion.
