Shimura Tae is scheming.

While she’s stuck here, she’ll have to make a living while she figures out how to go back home. She’s applied for a few jobs, but for some reason, the assholes kept rejecting her. Sure, she’d maybe lost her temper a bit and punched one of the clients at the cabaret club, but she had seen him trying to get handsy with one of the hostesses! That’s not something she could just let slide.

He had to be rushed away in an ambulance, but how was she supposed to know he’d have such an eggshell skull?

With Yuko seemingly on board with her plan, though, she can begin to recruit other staff members. She’ll need an adequate receptionist, perhaps a young man with a pretty face to lend style and credibility to her establishment.

Upon spotting a potential target, she dramatically stumbles, coming to a landing at his feet. She sweeps the back of her hand across her forehead. “Oh! I’m so sorry for being so clumsy.” She dusts herself off with a dignity not particularly earned through her display. “My name is Shimura Tae. Please feel free to call me Otae-sama.”

Because Badou’s a teenager, and a teenage boy, thus he’s stupid, he doesn’t see the death that’s before him.

“No, it’s a real shame you got here just as I’d grabbed it. Gotta be ladylike to let someone else go first, yeah?”

“Oh? I think you’re mistaken.”

Her voice is sweet, but there’s a palpable aura of doom emanating from her. If this were a different scene from a different anime, there would probably “menacing” written all over her. She attempts to climb onto the jet ski, water splashing a bit as she steps off the dock.

“I don’t think these are meant for two people, so you should let go now!”

Now, how does this thing work exactly?

The little cafe is sweet and cozy, and Yuko can’t help but feel at home as she sits. She orders a cappuccino and pan au chocolate, pieces of home she’s been craving. In all honesty the setting puts her so in her element, that it almost makes her nervous, but Otae’s serene face and presence is calming.

“It certainly has,” she responds, smiling wide, “Have you seen the malls out in the Golden Ward? I’ve done some window shopping and have been making a wish list for when I have an income.” She takes a sip of her cappuccino, making sure to carefully wipe any leftover foam away from her mouth.

Tae claps her palms together, a smile spreading across her face. “Yes, they have a lot of great buys. We should go shopping together!”

She takes a sip of her tea, expression pensive. The comforting vegetal undertones contrast delightfully with the sweet cake, and she’s grateful that she has someone to join her. Ice cream is delicious when you’re alone, but cake and ice cream is better with company.

“Back home,” she begins, the word “home” tasting bitter in her mouth, “I worked at a cabaret club as a hostess. Well, actually, I was a bouncer as well. I was really good at my job, which I’m sure isn’t surprising. I’ve been trying to find a position here, but all the cabaret clubs I’ve seen either aren’t hiring or aren’t places I’d like to work.”

She fixes her gaze on Yuko, weighing her words carefully.

“Actually, I have a business proposition for you.”

“Oh, Yuko! I haven’t seen you since the last event. I feel as though we were interrupted by a certain writer’s laziness…”

She giggles and waves her acquaintance over.

“There’s a bakery just down the street that serves tea and pastries. Do you have a moment to sit and chat?”

Yuko would be lying if she said she wasn’t ecstaic to see Otae’s beautiful, familliar face. “I’m glad to see you’re doing well!” Yuko starts, hurrying over.

Letting out a light laugh at the propostiion she can’t help herself, “I’ll always have a moment for you,” She winks and steps easily into pace with her companion.

Tae enjoys Yuko’s easy confidence and bright, friendly demeanor. She’s easy to talk to and a good ally to have. She can’t help but blush at Yuko’s charm, though she hides her face and smiles into her hand.

“It’s right over here.”

She orders green tea and a small slice of cake with a scoop of chocolate ice cream, and then she finds a table near the back while they wait for their orders. The music is quiet enough that it doesn’t interfere with conversations, and the each bistro-style table has a daisy in a small glass vase. It’s a charming place, and she’s happy to share it with Yuko.

“The city has changed a lot since our first meeting. It was really sad not being able to do any shopping.”

She has never jet skied in her life, but really, how hard could it be? The 200D prize is appealing, and it sounds like fun.

First, though, she should practice. She’s gone regular skiing once before -- well, snowboarding -- well, she ended up riding Shin-chan, but really! That has to count as some prior experience.

Her goal of perfecting her skills, though, is hindered when a small boy reaches for the same pair of skis. She looks at him, then looks at both of their grips on the skis, and then she looks back at him. She offers him her sweetest smile.

“It’s too bad you got here just a moment after me. I’m sure it will be worth the wait, yes?”

Growing up in the shadow of debtors, Tae’s feelings towards the wealthy are somewhat complicated. For the most part, she doesn’t resent them, per se (Kyuubei, for example, is a member of a very powerful family and has access to a good deal more resources than Tae, but Tae would never take advantage of that because of the nature of their relationship). Tae most commonly will attempt to sever the wealthy from their money – at least where wealthy straight men are concerned. Dates with men are an opportunity to make them pay for things, and she’s definitely not above emptying men’s wallets in the course of her job, and in fact finds it quite fun. She can be wonderfully sadistic, after all.

Of course, the more she respects you, the less likely she’ll try to acquire your cash. At the same time, though, if men are dumb enough to throw money at a pretty woman, she won’t feel any sympathy for the (now) poor bastards. If she herself happens to acquire wealth in the process, she’ll feel like she earned it.

Otae is quite hardy and not particularly prone to illness, aside from a cold or the flu here and there. When she does get sick, she heals quickly. She is especially resistant to stomach problems, most likely because she is able to consume dark matter without sustaining memory loss or other injury.

Between caring for her sick father and looking after her younger brother, young Otae had to grow up quickly, and she developed protective instincts which manifested in the form of fighting bullies. Even as a child, she possessed a good deal of strength. A punch to the face, though not as potent as now, was still nothing to mess with.

Otae has a naturally cheerful disposition (not that she would readily show it if something were bothering her). It doesn’t take much to make her happy; she’s content just hanging out with friends. But the excitement of working as a hostess (and punching guys who overstep their bounds) also makes her happy. She genuinely enjoys talking to people and serving their needs, particularly when said people are paying for expensive bottles of champagne. Truthfully, she also enjoys competing with the other hostesses and other moments of drama that arise in her job and elsewhere (she’s a one-woman soap opera, after all).
