Happy Disability Pride to the people who have illnesses that get dismissed in the medical world, like fibromyalgia, hypermobility syndrome, etc. Here’s to us for our bodies injuring us and then not being believed about the injury. Here’s to having to fight with every nurse just to get to the doctor and hope that the doctor will take it seriously. Here’s to the clear rudeness and disbelief we hear from receptionists over the phone when we explain our injury, to the dismissive emergency orthopedics who look at us like we have two heads.

And here’s to hopefully finding a good rheumatologist who wants to help, and to finding a good physical therapist who wants the very same.

nothing has been more important to my being queer than when i went to my first pride parade, got seperated from my group, had a panic attack about it and was sitting on the side of the road holding a tiny genderfluid flag and freaking out. then this six foot five drag queen in four inch heels appeared from literally nowhere and sat down next to me. i, this scared-shitless trans bi kid at pride for the first time, very nervously told her she looked pretty and i told her my name and that i got lost and didn't feel like i should be at pride and she held my hand and said "oh, honey, everybody deserves to be here, especially you. pride is for everybody who's ever gotten lost, who's been scared of who they are or where they are. you think we never been scared before? pride's for you, honey, because you're scared. you don't have to be proud right now, but you're gonna be one day, honey, i'm sure of it."

i found my group soon after that and i never saw that queen again but to this day i am convinced i met an angel.

so yeah. pride is for you. pride is for all of us.

It’s okay to not be productive. You are not less of a person for struggling/being unable to work, or go to school, or maintain friendships

You are just as deserving of love as any healthy, Neurotypical or able bodied person

Your needs and accommodations are not a burden or an annoyance, and anyone who actually cares would do what it takes to make sure they get met

It isn’t your fault if others treat you poorly for things you can’t control, that says more about them than you

You are just as deserving of a good life as anyone else

You deserve love, and even if it doesn’t feel like it, there are people out there who don’t mind and won’t see it as an obstacle

Just because you go through something regularly doesn’t mean it’s any less upsetting/traumatic/scary

Your life is not worth less, you are still a person, and you are still alive

Even if you haven’t done anything today just being here at all is an achievement. No matter what you’re going through, I’m happy you’ve made it this far, because I can’t imagine what you’ve had to go through to get here

cannot believe there are people who aren't familiar with the 2002 movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. it's not remembered as one of the animated classics of the early 00s because it's so different than other beloved movies - no talking animals, no fantasy settings, limited comedic elements - but my god did it shine in so many other ways. arguably some of the best 2D animation ever created, outstanding soundtrack, an hour and a half of pure anti-imperialism and anti-colonialism in a kid friendly story about horseys.
