what makes Snow such a formidable villain within THG universe is that nothing he does was set in stone. there was no sense of inevitability about his actions and his brutality. Snow had enough perspective of poverty, capital cruelty, district hunger and not to mention his own arena experienceâ and yet he actively chose at every moment to stray from natural goodness. its even more terrifying in the sense that he had the ability to care. Snow is not a mindless sociopath, he displays feelings to others such as sejanus, lucy grey and tigris but ultimately he will always choose himself. his ability to betray those he cared about in order yo advance himself makes him so much more than the stereotypical villain who is forced into his actions.
I like how well-written his character is. The very opposite of one of my favorite characters in fiction

Growing up I always watched movies, documentaries, tv shows and read books about atrocities committed by people in history and thought.. how did this happen and why did no one do anything? Why did governments not intervene? Why did public figures not speak out? How did they get away with it? it? Most importantly how did human treat other humans like that? Where was the compassion?
I'm ashamed to say that in 2024 I now have the answers. The government's gas lighting and complicity, the media dehumanising, ignoring and bias reporting, the huge companies funding and supporting, the public figures choosing to stay silent, the ordinary person pretending "they don't know enough" this is how we've allowed this to happen time and time again..
In the past we could forgive people for not having enough information, not having access to it, not being able to hear the stories of the horrors, to be able to see it with their own eyes..
In 2024 you can't pretend you "don't know enough" you can't pretend you don't see innocent children, men, and women being brutally killed by sadistic, genocidal leaders and their war crimes.. you can't ignore the 100's and 1000's of videos, images, stories and people who are telling you what is happening.. the sheer horror of images we are seeing.. you can't ignore the countless protests, discourse, conversations, posts, live feeds etc.. history will judge your inaction, your silence, your ignorance..
This is not a war.. this is a genocide.. this is massacre.. there are no sides..
Also please don't forget the innocent people suffering in Sudan and Congo they need our voices too!

I need book recommendations please. I read captive prince and Iâm losing my mind.
ooooh gladly!
so first of all, nothing really compares to CaPri, however i do have some - imo - very good recommendations that might have similar vibes.
The Kingdoms by Natasha Pulley - historical (18th and 19th century) Fantasy. Amnesia and time-travelling, with a veeeery Laurent-coded love interest.
The Scottish Boy by Alex De Campi - historical (14th century) Captive/Prisoner and (reluctant) man who has to hold him captive, secret identity, political schemes, revenge, war
Solomons Crown by Natasha Siegel - historical (12th century), Crown Prince of England (Richard Lionheart) and King of France (Philipp II) falling in love despite their countries being enemies, political schemes, strained family relationship to the point of going to war against family members, allies to enemies to allies again
A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland - not my personal favourite but still good, Fabtasy, outstanding non-european-centric world-building, anxiety rep, queer-normative, Disgraced Prince and his guard(s) having to uncover a political intrigue that could dethrown his sister, the monarch, nightly shenenigans in taverns while hiding their identity, forced proximity, kinda co-dependent relationship
Winters Orbit by Everina Maxwell - SciFy, Prince has to marry the widow of his cousin for diplomatic reasons who then gets accused of having killed his first husband, political intrigue, past abuse
Fence by CS Pacat and Johanna the Mad - graphic novels, sports (fencing), YA?, might be an entirely different setting but the character dynamics are reminiscent of CaPri/ you can tell Pacats writing
The Aeneid by Virgil - the great Roman epic. to this day im convinced Pacat might have drawn some inspiration from this (or possibly the Odyssee and the Iliad)
I hope that helps. Thank you for your ask!
actually im thinking about the kamomedai match again and how kageyama is the one to point out that hinata likely has a fever and how heâs not doing that to be petty or to have a victory over hinata but because he refuses to accept anything by the best from him because he respects him as a rival. and im thinking about how kageyama i says âi win this time tooâ and how thats not a taunt but his way of reminding hinata that he vowed to be the one to stay on the court longer, and for him to do that he has to look after himself. and im thinking about how during the summer training camp arc kageyama sends hinata that easier toss without even thinking about it because he subconsciously recognises that hes not hit a comfortable spike in a while. and im thinking about how after their fight kageyama never really apologises for throwing hinata onto the ground, but he goes to ukai and starts developing a new toss. and im thinking about how post timeskip kageyama asking hinata if he needs to go to the bathroom is a form of fond teasing, but its also his own way of going âhey, are you nervous? are you okay?â. and basically im thinking about how kageyama is initially presented as this callous jerk who only values hinata as a tool for winning but hes actually a deeply observant, deeply caring person, who looks after hinata not only as a spiker and rival, but as a friend
Okay I have more thoughts about this actually. im thinking about how when tanaka hits his slump he âswallows his prideâ and asks for less tosses but kageyama instantly refuses, because he has faith in tanaka, because he knows what he can handle. And im thinking about how even though kageyama and tsukishima probably like each other the least out of everyone on the team but kageyama still looks out for him in his own way, still pushes tsukishima to spike higher because he respects tsukishima and wonât accept anything less from him. And im thinking about how when kageyama sees hoshiumi jump for the first time his first thoughts are literally of hinata, before shock or amazement or intimidation, itâd hinata. And im thinking about how then after coming back from an Olympic level national training camp kageyamaâs main takeaway isnât how he can improve as a setter or serve better, its that hinata can fly even higher. And im especially thinking about how during the dateko practice match kageyama is literally mortified after he snaps at his teammates, because even though heâs desperately awkward and dense heâs self aware enough now to understand that he doesnât want to be the kind of person who treats others like that. and im thinking about how kageyama, goal driven volleyball obsessed kageyama, feels a bit bad about taking the starting setter spot from suga, and how he still respects him as a rival and teacher. im really just thinking about how kageyama actively cares about and for the people around him, how he took it to heart when kazuyo told him someone even better would come find him, and because of that he pushes everyone around him to be better, and in middle school he went about it the wrong way, ended up being an asshole to people he wanted to support deep down, but at karasuno he was given the space and the understanding and the âweâre not taking your shit dudeâ-ness to learn how to care for people in a way that genuinely does help them to become someone ever better. What was that chapter title from the inarizaki match? âThe Threat of Trustâ? Basically that
bringing this back because itâs the single best damn post ive ever made.
im thinking about how, essentially, kageyamaâs love language is âi refuse to accept anything from you than your very bestâ. im thinking about how at kitadai he pushed that onto his teammates without considering that their âbestâ might look different from what he thinks it should be. im thinking about how at karasuno kageyama learns to not only say âi refuse to accept anything from you than your very best â with his sets, but also âand iâm going to help you be the bestâ.
im thinking about how before tanaka spikes his laser straight spike in the inarizaki match, kageyama says âits not for me to decide what tanaka-sanâs best weapon isâ. im thinking about how for kageyama, the best possible setter he can be is the one who pushes his spikers to their limits, yes, but who also gives his spikers as many options as possible.
and yeah im thinking about how angry hinata gets when kageyama sends him that easier toss at the summer training camp, im thinking about how heâs throwing kageyamaâs love language back in his face, im thinking about how hinata, not for a single moment, lets kageyama go easy on him or himself, lets kageyama give him anything but his best. im thinking about how kageyama tells noya than heâs in the way, how he snaps at asahi to score already. im thinking about how kageyama acts like that not because he disrespects his teammates or thinks theyâre useless, but actually the exact opposite, im thinking about how he knows how good they are, and how he respects them enough to refuse to let them not win.
im thinking about speed obsessed kageyama, kageyama who told hinata âi wont set to anyone who i dont think will winâ slowing down during the nekoma match and sending up an open toss, trusting in hinata to make the point. im thinking about how hinata spikes with his eyes closed, how he has no other option to trust that kageyama will do his best and get the ball to him perfectly each time.
im thinking about oikawa and atsumu both acknowleding that hinata, tiny, scrawny hinata, is terrifying because he has kageyama wrapped around his finger, because heâs able to bring out kageyamaâs absolute best. im thinking about how when kageyama screws up a toss and tells hinata to complain at him for it, without missing a single beat hinata just tells him to send the next toss his way too. im thinking about how, refusing to lose to each other is another way or refusing to let each other lose at all.
im really actually just thinking about âas long as iâm here, youâre invincibleâ
@billy-babe
people still calling armin weak really didnât understand his character at all. unlike eren, he never made a fuss about being an orphan and losing his entire family. unlike mikasa he didnât hesitate and did what had to be done to protect the survivors from eren. he was often laughed at and faced so many hardships when erwin named him as his successor yet he never complained about it one single time. he became a titan against his will and saw his lifespan being reduced to seven years, but never cried or showed any sign of remorse. armin is one of the strongest characters of attack on titan and if you donât understand that, then you missed a very important point.
