Many moons had passed since that night of Asterius's birth, a moment that would bring changes not many could realise now. Since then a whole year had flowed by and this day was a special one as it was Asterius's first birthday. Olympus was filled with laughter and celebrations as all the Gods were arriving inside the throne room to congratulate Zeus and little Asterius who had grown up way faster than a common mortal, already looking like a young toddler.
Not every God though had made an appearance on Olympus. Far away from the home of the Gods and the land of the mortals, harsh waves were crashing on the rocks of a cave and then retreating back into the ocean. Better yet a complex of caves, which was also one of the few entrances to the underworld. There, where the sea met the atmosphere of the dead and their souls, a tall person emerged from the troubled ocean water. A middle aged man that reeked of the sea salt scent and was holding an intimidating trident, a powerful weapon crafted by Hephaestus himself. Way taller than an average man, it was nobody else but Poseidon, the God and the ruler of seas and oceans, the bringer of Earthquakes.
He walked forward, his strides big and comfortable as he approached another form of a person who was half hidden amongst the shadows. But of course Poseidon would never dare to pass the mysterious shadow as anyone else.
"How come you're not in Olympus? Our great king would be much disappointed with your absence" Poseidon scoffed but didn't pay much attention to the words or the tone of the voice. Instead he replied back, in a short but firm manner.
"That boy is a problem and will be an even greater problem. I know you can see that, too. I've never seen Zeus obsess over something this much again"
"You know our brother was always sentimental. It doesn't surprise me" The figure stepped forward to reveal none other but the glorious king of the Underworld, the ruler of the dead, Hades. He had a sly smirk on his face as he took over the concern in Poseidon's face.
"I know what concerns you... I know you, brother. The prophecy of course. Do you think it refers to that bastard?" He spat out in disgust, a clear implication of Asterius. Both of the Gods could smell the danger when seeing one. However, since Asterius showed the first signs that the powers of Zeus ran through his veins, it had raised suspicions both to Hades and Poseidon.
"Could be." Poseidon shrugged not knowing what to make of the situation. But he knew that boy must have been very special to Zeus at least because never before had the kind of the Gods brought one of the many demigods he had fathered into Olympus. "That's why I'm here today. Both of us know that if we do not get this matter under control, troubles may arise in the future"
"And what exactly do you imply, Poseidon? That we kill of the boy or something like that?" Hades could agree with Poseidon's concerns but he'd never reach that far. He still had some sense of morals even though morals were a subjective topic when it came to immorals.
"No, no, of course not. He could be useful. I'm just saying we have to keep him under strict observation. We don't know what he might grow up to be. And the Gods who are cautious towards him aren't just a few."
"I agree with that. Hera would also agree with us but it's best if we don't involve her. Yet at least. She wouldn't hesitate killing him off or who knows what" After all it wouldn't be the first time that something like this would happen. The children and their mortal mothers who had suffered because of Hera's rage couldn't possibly be counted for.
"I know" Poseidon acknowledged his words with a nod. It was important for this conversation to remain between them. "What we discussed today is to remain in total secrecy. That why I asked you to meet me here. You can never be too safe in Olympus"
Hades tilted his head in response and then retreated back towards the shadows. "You should return to Olympus. Your absence shouldn't be noticed" Then the God tapped his bident rhythmically on the ground and the rock wall in front of him morphed into the entrance of the underworld. He disappeared into it, his black clock flowing behind him and engulfing his figure.
Poseidon looked at his direction for a moment and then turned around. A small smirk was evident on his lips as he was lost onto the waves himself.
Somewhere in Olympus an innocent boy eas giggling and laughing, with no knowledge of what the Fates had decided for him...
