I bet the air in Fallout's Vaults are dry as hell.

I bet when a vault dweller leaves their vault it's the very first time in their entire life they've ever experienced humidity above 0.5%. Why haven't I seen THAT shown in any fanfics?

Like seriously, 200+ years in a sealed environment is going to gradually just remove all moisture in the air, they'd think they were dying if they left their vault and found out they were in like Louisiana. Hell even the Lone Wanderer shouldn't be ready to climb out of 101 and wander their ass into DC's 60% average daily humidity.

Thinking about how simply but effectively Fallout conveys its message.

"As long as there are differences we will tear ourselves apart fighting each other".

"The details are trivial and pointless. The reasons, as always, purely human ones".

"The Great cleansing. An atomic spark struck by human hands".

"The destructive nature of men could sustain itself no longer".

"Men had succeeded in destroying the world, but war never changes".

"An apocalypse was a prologue to another bloody chapter of human history".

Alongside with progress and hope we humans bring conflict, no matter the scale it's always there because finding reasons for conflict is in our nature. Two people will always find something to disagree on. Or something to fight over. And The Great War? Our giant fuck up that we trying to fix yet repeating the same mistakes that led to it, simply because we can't escape repeating them.

I'm picking Fallout 3. I'm leaving the vault and instantly going to Megaton. I'll stay in Megaton for an exact year. If I'm leaving the vault I'll have knowledge of things. I'll disarm the bomb and get a free house and just stay there for a year. Wadsworth gives you purified water and all Id have to do is collect junk to sell or hunt for my own food. I'm not against eating giant bug meat or rabbid dogs. But I wouldn't leave far from Megaton. Maybe as far as the Super Duper Mart but that's about it. I don't know, I feel it would be a lot easier than people realize.

I've always been really confused about the world culture of Fallout, especially before the collapse.

Like it's my understanding that the timeline diverges from our own after WW2, with the United States entering a golden atomic age driven by relentless xenophobic and expansionist conquest, plunging the world into a fascistic death spiral that lead to the resource wars and nuclear armageddon. And to deliver that bleak premise with a satirical edge, it's canonical that American culture is, at least by the 2070s when the world ends, stuck in a sort of neo 50s obsession where the only music and art that's popular enough to survive the nukes is all stuff that originated more than a century beforehand.

Like I get that the criticism being made is that a culture obsessed with its own past is indicative of a bleak present crushed by imperialism and nationalism, but can you really expect me to believe that Fallout's American empire was so bad that culture and art and aesthetics were just. Frozen in time for more than 100 years? Addicted to their own past? That the American people were so embroiled in reactionary ideologies that they were incapable of moving forward and creating anything new?

Anyway did you hear they're rebooting Malcolm in the Middle this year? And the Mummy. And the Devil Wears Prada. And Masters of the Universe. And Meet the Parents. And a 5th toy story movie. And a moana remake.

Could mean nothing.

Head cannon about this dude in Megaton. He's not as stupid as a lot of the rest of the wastelanders you find. I believe he has vast knowledge about animals of all kinds and is as well one of the first people Moria Brown asked to run errands for her BECAUSE of his knowledge on animals. That's my head cannon about this guy.

I'd like everyone to meet my new character Cierra. A far, far far, less than lucky vault dweller. She's a brute. Shes a bit more perceptive than the people around her, same with her endurance. Because of her brute like nature, people don't find her charismatic. Her physical strength is only matched by her intelligence. Strong body and mind. Shes a bit more agile than the rest of the vault dwellers in vault 101. Here's her level one stats.

For those of you replaying Fallout 3's Operation Anchorage DLC, here's a guide to getting all the hidden Intel. Completing this gets you a perk (I don't remember the name) but it gives you a boost to repair, science and small guns. (Walkthrough not mine. Just the one I personally use)
