December 2019 Astrological Forecast

The Libra-Capricorn squares that we experienced all fall are finally over, and the dissonance from the squares and Mercury retrograde have subsided as the last of the personal planets from Libra season moves into the next sign of Scorpio and Mercury is moving full-steam ahead through Scorpio to catch up with the Sun in Sagittarius. We can take a breath of relief, just for a short while, because the Grand Conjunction (Saturn and Pluto) in January 2020 is right around the corner.

As we waltz into December, we are full speed ahead into Sagittarius season. You will still feel and be able to utilize the affects of the fertile new moon in Sagittarius that occurred on Tuesday, November 25 in the Western hemisphere. And while the Sun is in Sagittarius, the Capricorn vibes are heavy as Jupiter and Venus join the South Node, Saturn, and Pluto in the earthy sign of Cappy the Sea Goat.

On December 1st, the sun at 9 ° 43’ Sagittarius begins to form its Square to Neptune as the luminaries (sun & moon) sextile one another mid-day Sunday, 12/1 - sun in Sagittarius, moon in Aquarius. Your heart and mind may feel open and optimistic at this time. You may feel excited and zealous about your contribution to humanity and the spiritual plain. While this is occurring, the Moon in Aquarius will form a square Mercury in Scorpio, which can cause stubborn responses to our emotional and mental processes. Stand you ground when you know you are right, but don’t be so focused on that to admit when you are wrong.

December 3rd: Jupiter moves into Capricorn, where it is in its fall. Jupiter likes to expand and roam free, whereas Capricorn likes to restrict and self-regulate. But don’t worry, Jupiter has a little support from the idealistic Moon in Pisces as she sextiles Jupiter two signs behind her.

December 4th: The moon in Pisces forms a brief conjunction with Neptune while simultaneously forming a loose trine with Mars in Scorpio – it’s a great day to put some action into your hopes and dreams and get intimate with where your heart desires to go.

December 7: The sun in Sagittarius forms its tight square with Neptune in Pisces while Moon in Aries trines Sun. What are you feeling impulsive and passionate over? You may feel the need to speak your truth in a very blunt way today, but with Neptune in the mix forming a square to the sun in Sagittarius, we may feel like our truths are true, but are we just getting caught up in dogmatic ideologies? Be careful where you can act “holier-than-thou” - many times which is caused by deep rooted anxiousness and insecurities, which are both things governed by Neptune.

December 8: The moon will move into Taurus and forms a tight conjunction to Uranus at 7:30am (CST) on Sunday, December 8 while opposing Mars - the Mars-Moon opposition will be exact on December 9th. This can be an upsetting transit because the moon next to Uranus can cause nervousness and feelings of unsettled or uncertainty. Mars in Scorpio isn’t a fan of uncertainty and this opposition may spark some control issues. Be aware of when you feel a lack of control and ask yourself why you are afraid of the unexpected or unplanned.

December 9: Mercury moves into Sagittarius where it is in detriment (this is because Mercury is at home in Sagittarius’s polarity, Gemini) leaving us unconcerned with the details and creating an expansion of our mind and philosophical thinking. You may speak with a little more blunt-ness for the next few weeks and want to share your truths with the world. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, it is a great opportunity to do some higher learning. Learn something new this month - how can this help your overall well-being?

December 10: Mercury in Sagittarius will oppose the Moon in Gemini - your emotions may feel fluid and flowing, and you may want to TALK IT OUT! But there may be tension as your mind wants you to see the bigger picture and get over it.

December 11: Venus conjunct Saturn exact at 4:05am. Venus dances between Saturn and Pluto December 11 - 13 and asks us: what is the value in your trauma? How can your wounds be your wisdom and how can you transcend your pain and hurt into something constructive and beautiful? Perhaps we can use this opportunity in cohesion with the full moon in Gemini to release the parts of us that keep us from transcending our painful experiences into tools to better ourselves in this lifetime. The Full Moon in Gemini is exact at 11:13pm CST on Wednesday night as the moon opposes the Sun in Gemini. Full moon reflections: how does the details of the present moment and the happenings around you distract you from seeing the big picture? Can you separate the small stuff from the things that are truly important?

Since the first week of December, Mars in Scorpio, the North Node in Cancer, Neptune in Pisces have been forming a Grand Trine to one another (120 degrees apart when connected form a perfect triangle). This grand trine can be felt the strongest on Friday, December 13. This transit asks, “what are your dreams that seem unreachable, too grand, too “out there” to seem plausible? This is a time to GO FOR IT! Wholeheartedly trusting in the universe to deliver your destiny is highly supported during this time.”

December 15: Mercury in Sagittarius trines the Moon in Leo at 2:18pm CST creating a push to speak boldly about what you believe in. Your emotions are telling you to follow your authenticity, and this is a great way to do it. While the moon in Leo will work in harmony to Mercury in Sag, the moon will also form a square to Uranus in Taurus and a square to Mars later in the day. There’s that obsessive compulsive energy again, white-knuckling control. Not-so-pleasant transits though the fixed signs can teach us to let go, because no matter how much we think we are maintaining control, often the Universe has its own ideas. Jupiter trine Uranus which means that any changes that you experience today are probably working in your favor. You may not feel internally sure about it, but have faith and trust that this is all a part of the plan.

December 17: Tuesday morning, 3 planets in the earth signs will form a grand Trine - the moon in Virgo, Jupiter in Capricorn, and Uranus in Taurus. The uncertainty you felt a couple days ago is slowly turning into seeing the practicality that change can provide. Not all change is bad, and this transit can highlight how going-with-the-flow can best serve us in times of ambiguity.

December 18: Moon in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces with a T-square to Mercury. Again with the nervous energy. With aspects like squares and oppositions which aren’t necessarily supportive of one another, we look at how the planets at play bring out the worst in one another. The moon in Virgo as it opposes Neptune and forms a square with Mercury can cause anxiety due to feelings of fogginess when what you really need is clarity. Don’t force what is unclear - sit in the uncertainty and know it’s okay to not know.

December 20: Venus moves into Aquarius and we suddenly see value in the unique, and showing off our individuality begins to look more and more appealing. When Venus is in Capricorn, we look for the practical and place value in stability. But with Venus in Aquarius, we can see the beauty in innovation and challenging the norm. Bust out that outfit that you aren’t exactly sure you can pull off - this is the time to let your uniqueness shine!

December 21: The Sun moves into Capricorn late at night (CST) and thus begins the Capricorn pile-up of the next 30 days. Capricorn season is about fortifying our foundation and working towards success, stability, and status.

December 22: Moon conjunct Mars in Scorpio, with an exact conjunction at 9:27pm- your emotions may be HOT today! If you feel like starting a fight, hang tight! It could just be the Moon & Mars in Scorpio overreacting. Those 3 have the tendency to do so!

December 25: At 11:13pm CST, the Moon and Sun will be conjunct in Capricorn, creating a solar eclipse. If you practice moon magick, ECLIPSES ARE NOT THE TIME! Eclipses are a time of change and every time we have a solar or lunar eclipse, rest assured the unexpected will follow. Our regularly scheduled lunar practices are not advised and using this solar new moon eclipse to manifest what it is you think you want is probably going to bite you in the ass - eclipses bring transformational change, and what it is you think you want may not be what is best for you. The Cancer-Capricorn eclipses will spark change in whatever houses they hit in your natal chart. For me, Cancer is my 10th house and Capricorn is my 4th. Every Cancer-Capricorn eclipse cycle that’s happened in my life, I’ve moved and/or changed careers! Use this new moon to instead reflect on the things you’ve asked the universe for in 2019 - what have you received and what has yet to come into fruition? Maybe the things that you are waiting to happen are delayed by design because greater things are in store.

December 26: Following the new moon, the moon in Capricorn will waltz over the South Node, Saturn, and Pluto while the sun forms its conjunction with Jupiter. What a party. It is likely that the changes set in motion by the new moon eclipse will create a ripple affect and create opportunities to expand your foundation. As we create a more stable foundation for ourselves, we can better prepare for the Grand Conjunction + Lunar eclipse coming in just a couple weeks that is bound to rock our worlds. Our structures and self-discipline will transform and we have the opportunity to regain power in areas we felt powerless. This goes for us as individuals and us as a collective. Many say the grand-conjunction will spark the death of the patriarchy. We will have to wait and see.

December 28: Mercury enters Capricorn at 11pm after the moon in Aquarius finishes its conjunction with Venus. Though processes will be direct and transactional while our emotions and values pass through an intellectual filter.

December 29: the Sun in Capricorn forms a tight conjunction with the South Node today. The South Node, remember, is what we’ve come into this life already having mastered, and to reach our fullest potential in this life cycle, we much reach towards the themes of our North Node - the lesson we are here to learn. When the Sun meets the South Node, we can have trouble saying goodbye to the things that gotta go - our identity feels tied to our South Node because it is what makes us feel predictable and in control because our South Node tendencies are EASY to embody. Keep reaching for that North Node, though - what is the part of you that is holding you back? What changes to do you need to personally make in order to get to the next level? It won’t be easy to invoke these changes today, but it will be a little easier to see them as the luminous sun shines some light on the situation.

December 31: We end the year with the moon in Pisces, very close to Neptune as we ring in the new year (CST). When the moon is in Pisces, we have the tendency to indulge in things like alcohol and drugs a little harder than usual. Pisces can use these things as an escape - whether what you are escaping is something major, or you are just escaping your mundane life for an evening to leave 2019 with a BANG! I’m not saying don’t have fun this New Years Eve, but plan accordingly. Make sure you have a safe and sober ride (or better yet, crash where you are partying if possible), don’t drink to mask emotions, and be diligent to put yourself in safe and responsible situations. Trust your intuition before you take your first sip - what do you need to take care of in order to leave 2019 on the highest note possible?

As we leave another decade, be thankful for all that you’ve experienced in the last 10 years, and make a note of the growth you’ve made and the challenges you’ve overcome. A New Journey Awaits: Jupiter in Capricorn

On December 2nd, 2019 Jupiter will leave optimistic Sagittarius and will be in rigid Capricorn. It will stay in the sign of Capricorn until December 19, 2020. With the Saturn and Pluto already in Capricorn, Jupiter joining them will be a much-needed reprieve. However, this does not mean that we will have it easy. A time to focus in on how our actions are impacting our lives. Saturn wants us to rid ourselves of the old ways and Jupiter wants us to learn and be better.
