Notes:

Gills on neck

Vertical pupils dilate and constrict like a cat

Quills on nape can move like a porcupine’s, but can’t detach

Retractable front claws

Inner toe of feet can swivel backwards for grasping

Antlers shed seasonally

Feather and scale colors based on magpies and jays

Wings based on birds of prey and cormorants

Tail feathers based on quetzals

Blood color is blue, even when flesh color is pink

Back quills transition into feathers, leading to base of tail

Digitigrade, can walk bipedally and quadrupedally

Wing spurs can support weight for short intervals

From an old version of Fera Sapiens: the design progression of Thunder, a mentor/parental figure for Jaguar and Cyclone from the abandoned zoo!

While searching distant lands to follow an omen about the clan’s gods, she comes across the house where the protagonists were born. Thunder takes their resemblance to the jaguar god as a good sign and invites them to join her clan, hoping to fulfill the prophecy.

Design-wise, the shift from calico to ginger fur was to keep consistent with the warm, fire-like theme of the clan as a whole!

Yet another antagonist (although minor) from the old version of Fera Sapiens!

Smokestorm is the son of Lionstar, leader of the abandoned zoo clan. Lionstar’s recruitment of the protagonists threatens his status as the gifted apprentice, sparking a murder mystery that jeopardizes all the clans.

(Their names still follow the wc naming system since their characters were scrapped and recycled at the same time the story shifted away from warrior cats)

Smokestorm was a blue ticked tabby with white spots resembling fire, shifting to warmer colors as a black ticked tabby in his most recent design

The warmer design was also a style test with colored lineart and unique eye shapes (Smokestorm’s pupils are smoke-shaped, matching his name)

The lineless illustration was supposed to include Lionstar and a background, depicting a confrontation between them due to Smokestorm’s rash behavior

Lionstar is a sandy-ginger ticked tabby with white spots

Another antagonist from my upcoming comic, tentatively titled Fera Sapiens! Vixen is Owl’s mentor and heir of the monarchy that leads their clan.

The story used to be based on wc and set in urban Poland, making large predators like bears and lynxes rare. Smaller carnivores like dogs, foxes, and badgers are more common.

Despite this, the biggest danger to feral cats aren’t predators, but other cats.
