For Aoki Day 5/7 - Aokise is always for @limitlessmonster
“Ryouta!” Aomine growls, his voice muted by a large box he's trying, and failing, to maneuver through the front door.
Kise pops his head out of his bedroom, his eyes widening as he sees the front of the box tip toward the floor. “Daiki!” He throws himself forward, barely catching the end before it completely topples to the floor. He hefts the box back to a manageable level and peers around the side. “Why wouldn’t you wait for me to come downstairs before grabbing this one?”
Aomine scoffs. “Like I was gonna leave the last box down there, idiot.” He pushes a step forward, prompting Kise to back into his new apartment. “After this you're buying me lunch. Wasn’t gonna wait for that any longer than I have to.”
“You're so impatient,” Kise sighs, rolling his eyes as he glances over his shoulder to guide them toward his bedroom. “Not like taking any longer was going to make me change my mind on paying or something.”
They both grunt as the corner of the box hits the door frame. “The hell you got in here anyway?” Aomine gripes as they finally lower the box to the floor with a soft thud.
“Shoes.”
Aomine groans. “You’re worse than a woman.” His eyes flicker around the room. There’s already a mound of clothing on Kise’s unmade bed and a few unopened boxes Aomine remembers stacking in his barely furnished living room. “Where’re you gonna put all this shit?”
Kise shrugs. “I’ve got an extra room.” He scrutinizes the pile of clothing. “Maybe I’ll turn it into a walk in closet.”
With a shake of his head, Aomine collapses on Kise’s bed, ruffling the clothes as he rolls over. He stares at the ceiling. “Finally got your own place,” he says after a moment of silence.
“Yeah,” Kise’s lips twitch. “Probably gonna be a bit weird.” He runs his hands over the open lip of a box full of knick knacks and photo frames he took from his bedroom back home. “I’m used to living with so many people, ya know? My sisters never left me alone.”
Aomine chuckles. “Trust me, the quiet time will feel pretty damn good after a while.”
Kise’s smile is wistful. “Maybe.”
Aomine knows all the telltale signs that betray Kise’s emotions. He lifts his head off the bed, watching the way Kise’s eyes turn glassy. He’s not going to cry, not yet, but it’s there under the surface.
He pushes himself into a sitting position, bending his leg top prop his foot on the edge of the bed. “Hey,” he says, reaching out to catch Kise’s hand, pulling it away from the box. “I’ll be over all the time, ya know? You won’t be alone.” He gives Kise’s hand a squeeze. “Sheesh, you’re such a baby sometimes.”
“Am not,” Kise grumbles with an epic pout.
“Besides, maybe one of these days I’ll scrounge up enough money to get one of the other apartments here. Then you can’t even complain because you know damn well your dumb ass will end up at my door all the time.”
“Will not.”
“Oh?” He smirks. “How many times did you use the word sleepover since you signed this lease?” Kise’s pout only grows more prominent. “More than any grown man should use that word, ya creep.”
“Sleepovers are fun at any age for anyone, Daiki,” Kise says, reaching out to shove Aomine back against the bed.
Aomine laughs. “Whatever you say, princess.”
“Hmph.” Kise crosses his arms and makes his way toward the door. “Wouldn’t have to propose sleepovers if you’d just move in here with me.”
A silence sweeps across the room. Kise freezes in the doorframe, his shoulders hiked up, stunned by his own admittance. Aomine sits up so quickly his head spins, or maybe it’s the words that are making his head continue to spin.
It’s not a conversation they've had yet. They’ve been together for almost 3 years (Aomine doesn’t count the fooling around before they admitted to feelings. He doesn’t count what wasn’t real yet). They’ve never talked about getting a place together or anything beyond the ease of their normal routine.
“Ryouta...”
“Daiki, I was just...” Kise glances over his shoulder, a flush burning bright on his cheeks. “I know we haven't--” He wrings his hands in the hem on his shirt. “I wasn’t try to force anything. I... It crossed my mind. The...”
Aomine takes a deep breath. “Why are you stuttering?”
“You try asking this without stuttering!” Kise whips around, a frown already pulling at the corners of his lips. “I... I wanted to have a real conversation about this. I didn't want you to think I got this place just to... I mean, it would be nice if we could....”
“Kise...”
“But I’m happy,” KIse whispers. “I’m really happy with you. I am. And if you don’t want to yet.... or ever.... I would never---” He takes a deep breath. “I would never make you. I want what you want.”
With a sigh, Aomine pushes himself off the bed and wraps Kise in his arms. “You're a giant idiot.”
Kise grumbles something incoherent against Aomine’s chest before wrapping his arms around his waist.
“Did you just call me an asshole?”
“I didn’t say anything,” Kise says, pulling away enough for Aomine to understand him.
Aomine chuckles. “Sure. Well...” He slides his fingers slowly, gently through the soft hairs at the nape of Kise’s neck. “Let’s talk about it now then.”
Kise meets his eyes and nods slowly. “Okay.... let’s talk about it.”
Aomine leans in, his lips brushing lightly across Kise’s. “I think my answer is yes, Ryouta, so....” He deepens the kiss, swallowing Kise’s gasp of surprise. “Conversation over.”
“Daiki...”
“Don’t cry on me, loser,”
“I’m not crying!”
Aomine glances over his shoulder at the mess of clothes on the bed. “Looks like you’re gonna have to share that walk in closet of yours.”
Kise snorts, shoving against his chest. “I’d like to see you try to find the room.”
With a grin, Aomine flips them around and playfully pushes Kiss toward the bed. “Oh, I think you’ll make plenty of room for me.”
Hawks tilts his head against Dabi’s chest. His wings are tucked against his bare back, the feathers brushing down his sides to tickle across Dabi’s skin. He traces a slow, gentle finger just shy of the stitches that ring around Dabi’s right arm.
“Did it hurt?” Hawks repeats again, lifting his head up to meet Dabi’s now fully opened eyes.
Dabi raises a brow, his eyes flickering to the bronzed skin of Hawks forearm, down across the back of his hand to watch the languid motion of his finger. Back and forth. Back and forth.
He doesn’t want to answer the question. Isn’t ready to delve into the darkness of those memories yet, despite how intimate and close they’ve become. He shivers at the touch so close to a world he’s not ready to share and finally glances up to meet Hawks’s eyes.
Hawks grins and slides his fingers down to lace them with Dabi’s. “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”
Dabi groans and rolls them over. He rolls his eyes as he frowns down at Hawks’s laughing face. “You’re the biggest idiot I’ve ever met in my life.” He reaches out to thread his fingers through the soft strands of hair that dangle across Hawks’s forehead. “Don’t you mean when I climbed up from hell?”
Hawks tilts his head into the caress. His smile softens. “Even Lucifer had wings once.”
Dabi’s lips twitch. He tries to ignore the twinge in his chest brought on by the freely given affection. “How true that is.”
