āRyouta!ā Aomine growls, his voice muted by a large box he's trying, and failing, to maneuver through the front door.Ā
Kise pops his head out of his bedroom, his eyes widening as he sees the front of the box tip toward the floor.Ā āDaiki!ā He throws himself forward, barely catching the end before it completely topples to the floor. He hefts the box back to a manageable level and peers around the side.Ā āWhy wouldnāt you wait for me to come downstairs before grabbing this one?ā
Aomine scoffs.Ā āLike I was gonna leave the last box down there, idiot.ā He pushes a step forward, prompting Kise to back into his new apartment.Ā āAfter this you're buying me lunch. Wasnāt gonna wait for that any longer than I have to.ā
āYou're so impatient,ā Kise sighs, rolling his eyes as he glances over his shoulder to guide them toward his bedroom.Ā āNot like taking any longer was going to make me change my mind on paying or something.ā
They both grunt as the corner of the box hits the door frame.Ā āThe hell you got in here anyway?ā Aomine gripes as they finally lower the box to the floor with a soft thud.
āShoes.āĀ
Aomine groans.Ā āYouāre worse than a woman.ā His eyes flicker around the room. Thereās already a mound of clothing on Kiseās unmade bed and a few unopened boxes Aomine remembers stacking in his barely furnished living room.Ā āWhereāre you gonna put all this shit?ā
Kise shrugs.Ā āIāve got an extra room.ā He scrutinizes the pile of clothing.Ā āMaybe Iāll turn it into a walk in closet.āĀ
With a shake of his head, Aomine collapses on Kiseās bed, ruffling the clothes as he rolls over. He stares at the ceiling.Ā āFinally got your own place,ā he says after a moment of silence.Ā
āYeah,ā Kiseās lips twitch.Ā āProbably gonna be a bit weird.ā He runs his hands over the open lip of a box full of knick knacks and photo frames he took from his bedroom back home.Ā āIām used to living with so many people, ya know? My sisters never left me alone.ā
Aomine chuckles.Ā āTrust me, the quiet time will feel pretty damn good after a while.ā
Kiseās smile is wistful.Ā āMaybe.ā
Aomine knows all the telltale signs that betray Kiseās emotions. He lifts his head off the bed, watching the way Kiseās eyes turn glassy. Heās not going to cry, not yet, but itās there under the surface.Ā
He pushes himself into a sitting position, bending his leg top prop his foot on the edge of the bed.Ā āHey,ā he says, reaching out to catch Kiseās hand, pulling it away from the box.Ā āIāll be over all the time, ya know? You wonāt be alone.ā He gives Kiseās hand a squeeze.Ā āSheesh, youāre such a baby sometimes.āĀ
āAm not,ā Kise grumbles with an epic pout.
āBesides, maybe one of these days Iāll scrounge up enough money to get one of the other apartments here. Then you canāt even complain because you know damn well your dumb ass will end up at my door all the time.ā
āWill not.āĀ
āOh?ā He smirks.Ā āHow many times did you use the word sleepover since you signed this lease?ā Kiseās pout only grows more prominent.Ā āMore than any grown man should use that word, ya creep.āĀ
āSleepovers are fun at any age for anyone, Daiki,ā Kise says, reaching out to shove Aomine back against the bed.
Aomine laughs.Ā āWhatever you say, princess.ā
āHmph.ā Kise crosses his arms and makes his way toward the door.Ā āWouldnāt have to propose sleepovers if youād just move in here with me.ā
A silence sweeps across the room. Kise freezes in the doorframe, his shoulders hiked up, stunned by his own admittance. Aomine sits up so quickly his head spins, or maybe itās the words that are making his head continue to spin.Ā
Itās not a conversation they've had yet. Theyāve been together for almost 3 years (Aomine doesnāt count the fooling around before they admitted to feelings. He doesnāt count what wasnāt real yet). Theyāve never talked about getting a place together or anything beyond the ease of their normal routine.Ā
āRyouta...āĀ
āDaiki, I was just...ā Kise glances over his shoulder, a flush burning bright on his cheeks.Ā āI know we haven't--ā He wrings his hands in the hem on his shirt.Ā āI wasnāt try to force anything. I... It crossed my mind. The...āĀ
Aomine takes a deep breath.Ā āWhy are you stuttering?ā
āYou try asking this without stuttering!ā Kise whips around, a frown already pulling at the corners of his lips.Ā āI... I wanted to have a real conversation about this. I didn't want you to think I got this place just to... I mean, it would be nice if we could....ā
āKise...ā
āBut Iām happy,ā KIse whispers.Ā āIām really happy with you. I am. And if you donāt want to yet.... or ever.... I would never---ā He takes a deep breath.Ā āI would never make you. I want what you want.ā
With a sigh, Aomine pushes himself off the bed and wraps Kise in his arms.Ā āYou're a giant idiot.ā
Kise grumbles something incoherent against Aomineās chest before wrapping his arms around his waist.Ā
āDid you just call me an asshole?ā
āI didnāt say anything,ā Kise says, pulling away enough for Aomine to understand him.Ā
Aomine chuckles.Ā āSure. Well...ā He slides his fingers slowly, gently through the soft hairs at the nape of Kiseās neck.Ā āLetās talk about it now then.ā
Kise meets his eyes and nods slowly.Ā āOkay.... letās talk about it.ā
Aomine leans in, his lips brushing lightly across Kiseās.Ā āI think my answer is yes, Ryouta, so....ā He deepens the kiss, swallowing Kiseās gasp of surprise.Ā āConversation over.ā
āDaiki...ā
āDonāt cry on me, loser,ā
āIām not crying!āĀ
Aomine glances over his shoulder at the mess of clothes on the bed.Ā āLooks like youāre gonna have to share that walk in closet of yours.āĀ
Kise snorts, shoving against his chest.Ā āIād like to see you try to find the room.ā
With a grin, Aomine flips them around and playfully pushes Kiss toward the bed. āOh,Ā I think youāll make plenty of room for me.ā
Hawks tilts his head against Dabiās chest. His wings are tucked against his bare back, the feathers brushing down his sides to tickle across Dabiās skin. He traces a slow, gentle finger just shy of the stitches that ring around Dabiās right arm.
āDid it hurt?ā Hawks repeats again, lifting his head up to meet Dabiās now fully opened eyes.
Dabi raises a brow, his eyes flickering to the bronzed skin of Hawks forearm, down across the back of his hand to watch the languid motion of his finger. Back and forth. Back and forth.
He doesnāt want to answer the question. Isnāt ready to delve into the darkness of those memories yet, despite how intimate and close theyāve become. He shivers at the touch so close to a world heās not ready to share and finally glances up to meet Hawksās eyes.
Hawks grins and slides his fingers down to lace them with Dabiās. āDid it hurt when you fell from heaven?ā
Dabi groans and rolls them over. He rolls his eyes as he frowns down at Hawksās laughing face. āYouāre the biggest idiot Iāve ever met in my life.ā He reaches out to thread his fingers through the soft strands of hair that dangle across Hawksās forehead. āDonāt you mean when I climbed up from hell?ā
Hawks tilts his head into the caress. His smile softens. āEven Lucifer had wings once.ā
Dabiās lips twitch. He tries to ignore the twinge in his chest brought on by the freely given affection. āHow true that is.ā
