Clara lifted a corner of her mouth up. “It’s alright, I don’t say anything worth hearing really. I meant that Danish music makes me happy, screaming music doesn’t.” Clara narrowed her eyes trying to bring an understanding to this strange man in front of her. “Yeah it’s a good song, how can you heart it though? Not even I can, and well it’s right next to me.” Suspicion flooded her body in her most natural instinct. Most people seemed to have a choice for flight or fight but clara only knew of the former. What she did? She possessed a problem that destoryed every happy thing in her life and yet it wasn’t even the worst one in the group. She wanted to lie, make something up but..well what would be the point by now? He’d figure it out or someone would tell or what else may happen from now until they all decided their end game. “I’m a ghost. One moment, I’m here..the next..I’m not. Just depends on whether I like my company or not.” In true drama queen fashion, Clara wiggled her fingers and vanished from the normal human eye. She settled in her special place for several seconds before returning. “No, there isn’t a green screen behhind me, just in case you were wondering.”
Although he couldn’t say why or what, Kai knew from her tone that he’d clearly said something. Something, that was, being defined as those moments when people’s brows raise or their eyes narrow, and one’s instincts unhelpfully suggest backtracking despite your brain not knowing why. He cracked one eye open, tilted his head slightly as his expression twisted into slight confusion. “Sorry?” he ventured after a moment, experience telling him it’s a safe bet, “I didn’t mean to invade or whatever, I just-” And then it clicked in his head and he felt typically like an idiot. After all, hadn’t he just admitted he couldn’t place what she did? “Riiiiight” he exhaled, grimacing sheepishly, “That’s my thing, you know? I hear and see and smell and stuff. Better than most people, I mean – too well.”
After her explanation, however, he couldn’t help but feel a bit upstaged. As soon as she said the word ‘ghost’ Kai put it together that she was the one who could disappear, suddenly remembering overheard conversations and the briefs he should have listened harder to. “Sweet. That’s like being born to be a top thief.” Was his instant response, though it was slightly pained as his vision played up again, his image of Clara becoming incredibly dull and hazy; intensely difficult to look at. “Green scre- Wait, are you doing it now? Or is this like, half-level ghost?”
